This wallpaper gives us a perfect example of how a simple manga scan can be turned into a beautiful vector. Not only did danalm trace the lineart, but he also added amazing details and a simple, yet wonderful background. Furthermore, the wallpaper shows us how the monochromatic style can make your work look really interesting.

"I am, after all, just a butler"

User posted image

Sebastian Michaelis--talented in every way, he is the butler of the house of Phantomhive, one of the most prominent families in Britain. Serving a young master of 12, today his black tailcoat swing here and there as usual...

I give you the most elegant butler (and a bit more) manga in the world!

Need I say more? Heehee...I shall leave the judgement to you. 3 volumes are already out in Japanese (and Chinese...fast to translate as usual). Meanwhile, I know some chapters are scanlated in English already (check baka-updates). It is very popular in Japan right now, and woefully not many people know about it outside...trust me, if you're not drawn by the beautiful style, you would be drawn by the story ^_^

The manga's official site: (in Japanese of course)
http://www.square-enix.co.jp/magazine/gfantasy/story/kuroshitsuzi/

I fell in love with Sebastian the moment I saw the cover XD and I love him even more after I read the first volume. Don't let the light sense fool you, this actually is a pretty dark manga with a sense of humour ^^

This looks pretty good. And a bit "Boys Love-ish"? Well, at least the young master gives some shota like vibes xD
The art is nice, and I love the clothes design; very baroque.
It's a pity that this manga isn't more known, because I would like to read it, but I didn't find much online translated.

They should make a anime, out of this xD

As I said, I know two chapters in volume 1 are translated (admittedly not perfect, but the meanings are clear enough ^^;;). Baka-updates has it, just search "kuroshitsuji". Also, there is a LJ group that has the raw scans for the newer chapters...

Haha, you'd think it is BL XD but I assure you, it really ISN'T (somehow I wish it is, the setting is so tempting XD). I've read up to the chapter out this month, and there isn't even implication. Let's just say, if you want to think in the BL mode, you'll find places where you can squeal (9+_+) emoticon

The drawing is very detailed and beautiful--you can tell the author did a lot of research. From the background to the little accessaries on the characters' clothes, all are carefully drawn. The story is also deeper than it first appeared...at least, from the 3 volumes that are out, I expect it to be more than just a fan-service type.

I guessed that it wasn't really shonen aish, because it seemed to be a shonen (well, G Fantasy magazine, seems like a shonen magazine to me); and except in Shonen Jump is not very common for shonen mangas to have Boys Love stuff.

Seeing the website of the magazine I'm seeing that they are making a anime out of something called Nabari no Ou. They did Zombie Loan before; maybe the next will be Kuro shitsuji (that would be sooo good!)

The wallpaper available on the official website, is gorgeous!

Actually, I can't determine whether Kuroshitsuji is shounen or not. I mean, it's definitely not shoujou because of all the bloody fighting, but it is too mild for shounen (and please, the drawing is SO MUCH BETTER than normal shounen manga, even monthly ones). It is also definitely aiming at female readers, probably high school-older teens. The magazine it's on (G Fantasy) is fairly vague as well...kind of in the middle of shoujou and shounen ^^;;

I only realize that Zombie Loan was serialized on the same magazine after knowing about Kuroshitsuji XD it would be really nice indeed if Kuroshitsuji is also being made into an anime *cross fingers* I mean, it would be so great to see the beautiful details in colour!

Oh by the way, there is a drama CD out for Kuroshitsuji ^^ I've downloaded it, and then ordered it, but it hasn't arrived yet...but from what I've heard the voices are GORGEOUS, especially Ciel's...very fitting ^^

The cover~

Oh yes; I donwloaded this CD, I'm waiting for a day I won't feel lazy, and will listen to it xD

And yeah, G Fantasy seems like one of those mixed magazines, where the series look quite like shounen manga, but it seems aimed too toward girls.
Well, there are lately some of them, mixed magazines (for men and women); and even some shoujo magazine aimed a boys.
It's usually the style I like best, because the average shoujo (the one from magazines like Ribbon, Hana to Yume, Margaret) sometimes are to sugary for my tastes. I like action; and violence. And blood xD

BTW, this thread seems more our chat than anything else xD we are the only people posting in it.

Well, I had intended to spread the love of Black Butler when I started this topic ^^;;

My drama CD finally arrived~though it is really expensive, I think it's worth it--the "booklet" opens like a letter, with a fake seal (sticker XD), and the contents are just beautiful...everything is made of supremely good quality paper. Being the only sound related thing of Kuroshitsuji around, how can I not love it? XD

I do have scans of the booklet (not scanned by me), I can post them up when I have more time ^^;;

Utena, have you found the chapters on baka-updates?

Erm, since the scans I have are quite big in pixels, rather than posting them here, I've decided to zip them and upload them onto a site...if you want them, please go there and download the file ^_^ Again, I didn't scan these--since I just found them out of random on the internet, I have no idea who did either.

It shouldn't expire that easily ^^

Lately, at a LJ community (yaoi_daily) several yaoi doujinshis (Sebastian x Ciel) have been appearing.
I have to say that they were quite amusing xD

LOL XD I have to admit, while Kuroshitsuji is definitely NOT shounen-ai/yaoi originally, its setting can inspire many, many yaoi things...even in the Kuroshitsuji LJ community, there are some of those doujins posted. I'm not a big fan of doujins myself (can't stand to see the original art being distorted), so I don't really like the Kuroshitsuji doujins...and well, seriously, I don't like shota, so while Sebastian x Ciel might may hot, I still prefer to see them as purely a pair with a very strong tie between them (as much "loyalty" as "akuma" can feel, I guess).

I've only read the first two (scanlated) chapters of this manga, and it seems really nice and amusing. The detailed art is certainly an eye-candy, I especially like the way the characters' clothes are drawn. There's a hint that there's something more in the mystery surrounding Sebastian and I can't wait to find out what it is (although I can kind of guess...)
I wish I could understand Japanese T_T

It's out in Chinese? Does anyone know the series' name in Chinese, or where I could find the Chinese scans? :O

I'm thinking of translating, but my Chinese is better than my Japanese so I was hoping I could do it that way instead :/ Thanks! :)
