I searched and I cannot believe no one has started a topic on "Mahou Sensei Negima!" manga!

From the creator of Love Hina, this manga has been around for a while and is STILL ongoing with new chapters being released each week (I think?). Use this thread to discuss past and current volumes and Negima manga in general :D

To start it off: Asuna Kagurazaka

What are is with Asuna's strong power and hidden past [She is/was a princess?] - It is quite interesting to ponder what might of actually happened ages back when she was a child and how she met Nagi's group when they were fighting off an army of demons. From then on it is unknown what happened other than she became quite powerful [Surpassing Takahata-sensei quite easily] and she lost her memories. I cannot wait to find out how her memories were erased and for what reason!

I hope we can get some interesting and meaningful Negima discussion going :D

Hahahaha, I guess you don't know that that search machine has something wrong with it? I was the one who posted a forum on Mahou last time, and it got locked because no one has been posting...;_;. Don't worry, I'll be here, hehe. Oh, and did you know I established a group on it? It seems to be dead to me...I guess that's about most of it my fault...>.<. Nobody is 'spamming' at the chat thread either!! Anyways, enough of my ramblings.
I love Mahou, and yeah, Asuna has quite some past. Haven't really gotten to know yet. I am still stuck at vol. 19!! I wonder what's that local company doing....
What vol. are you at already? I think the Jap one is already around 25? The Chinese manga of Mahou here sure is fast, because I saw 24 already...;_;. I am the slow one....>.<

Asuna is the chara I love most in Mahou. Would of course like to know about Nagi's past too, and a lot more charas, because they seem to somehow be linked to Negi...heh. ^-^.

I've been reading the manga and I sure enjoyed it! Compared to the anime version. The manga version is way more entertaining.

Although I haven't been able to buy the later volumes since our local bookstore hasn't been selling the latest volumes...

I'm not quite sure of the volume I am up to but I am up to the most recent chapter (Chapter 209) and the story is getting REALLY interesting with some really good twists and turns! My favourite character I reckon would have to be Evangeline. Her dark history is very intriguing (And vampires = Win in the first place :P) and it appears she knows a lot more about Nagi's party and Asuna's past then we are originally led on to believe. I also like how Evangeline can switch between her pure evil mode and her fun and playful mode - quite entertaining to watch (Or read? Meh, one of the two :P).

As for the manga compared to the anime, I really enjoyed the anime it is just a shame that it was only 26 (It was 26 yea?) episodes and created an ending not seen in the anime. But none the less the anime was also quite interesting, especially the ending

I mean, how Asuna made a pact with a demon reveals how she is able to be immune to magic. But I totally did not expect her to die in episode 23-24 (It was one of those :P). It was really taken back how this fun filled series had suddenly turned so depressing but regardless I loved it!

Oh Hakusa, how do I go about joining your Negima group?

Also, has anyone seen the 'Negima!?' alternate storyline anime?

I stopped reading this series at around volume 6 (it was the Kyoto arc if I remember correctly). Maybe I should start reading it again

Asuna Is still a princess and her memory began to be awaken...
Her power Make her life only until 17 years old...
The reason That her memory is sealed is the tragedy of Takahata teacher
and to protect her from her own terrible memory and make her to be a normal person.

i actually loved it i guess its my fav now
the best scene of the manga ( for me) is the part eva-chan kissed negi
i loved it

Yea I read chapter 212 not too long ago. It's annoying having to wait for scanlations to come out though - I mean it was all fine and dandy when I could read like 5-6 chapters a week but then when you have to wait for it to come out it gets a tad bit annoying. But then again it also increases the anticipation of wanting to read it :D

Adeate! Finally, it looks like Yui-chan is getting some of her memory back [Or maybe just a fluke *shrug*] and she looks so cute in her pactio outfit :D. Will she save the class rep (Well duh, good guys > bad guys!) and what will become of the outcome of the race!? [Okay, now I just sound like a program announcer...IE: "Tune in next time to find out!"]

Can't wait for #213. On another note, reading different volumes of the Love Hina [By the same manga artist, Ken Akamatsu, and damn do I love his drawings] and I didn't realise how much different the timeline was to that of the anime!

Will this series end anyway??

Don't worry the series will end, but hopefully not for a long time. The series is great and the characters are really interesting. The art is really good as well. The story is really getting interesting, I personally can't wait to see Fate vs. Negi and currently the battle/race at the magic school is really getting intense. My favorite character is... well I don't really have a favorite character in this series, there all really great. Still though I can't wait for the next chapter.

This is one of my favorite anime/manga. Ken Akamatsu has done well with this one in terms of the manga. I wish the anime adaption for it actually followed the manga, it could of had a lot more episodes. My favorite is tie between Tatsumaya and Kaede. ^-^;;

read it from the beginning (late 2006) to the recent one (ch 212) and one will see that the artwork has changed (better)

i really love the manga, yes its a bit annoying waiting for the next chapter to be posted for downloading but keep in mind that people wait for the raw version to come out, scan, then translate (believe me i know how long it takes to properly translate everything, and in th end its worth the wait and when you're left with a great cliffhanger makes you want to read more later^^

personally i don't see the end of this anytime soon, love the chacters, my faves are negi gotta love his naiveness and young attitude towards life and konoka, the power to heal, easy-going attitude, and her airheadedness is so cute

the manga and the anime have a few similarities but for those who have seen it, its so short compared to the manga, and the ending wasn't what i had expected it to turn out

Ken Akamatsu's works are really awesome, his ideas are bottemless, i sometimes wish i could draw like him

Agreed, Ken Akamatsu is one of THE BEST manga artists in my opinion. I love the way he draws all his characters unique and the females are all cute :D

And OH EM GEE! Chapter #213 came out just today! Read it, loved it!

Interesting! Yue-san managed to defeat the dragon with the help of Emily (The class rep) [That is her name right? :S] and then all four of them got to go to Ostia together as that was there reward for defeating a dragon! And in the last panel, Asuna is reunited with her home town of Ostia (Where she apparently grew up in as a kid, where her memories were erased and how she was somewhat royalty [A princess]) and it appears to be a very nostalgic moment for her. Cannot wait for #214! Maybe Asuna's memories will return bit by bit as they venture deep into Ostia or maybe they will all come back at once with a citing of a memorial place? THE PLOT THICKENS!

@Nitemare: Yea, I really tip my hat to those dedicated to scanlating the raws and then distributing them for free without getting any financial gain - they put time and effort in all just for us fans :) [The same goes with non-licensed anime and how fansubbing teams all work together to distribute it just for the community - truly amazing!]

I shed a little tear (Not really :P) when Asuna and Negi reunited, it was so good! And now it appears Negi knows something of Asuna's past! She is starting to remember the area as she walks around and the last conversation with Negi sure left us all on a cliff-hanger till next chapter. I feel in the next chapter A LOT will be revealed so I am really anticipating it :D

It is a shame Ken Akamatsu is taking a break and the next chapter (Or issue, cannot remember) won't be on sale till' 4 June (And that's in Japan, so it will be later for us leeches of the scanlators :P) but I reckon his art and the effort he puts into it is worth the wait :)
