Manga or Anime?

This afternoon my friend and I were arguing which one's better, anime, or manga. She said manga because the story is more "complete". but I say anime with the sound effects, animation and all.. which one would you prefer?

I'd prefer anime over manga because it takes less work to take it all in... plus if you get interupted while watching it, you don't have to search for your place, just pause it.
but I do hate the fact that the animators don't add everything that the manga holds....

Manga is better because the downloading is faster :D
I dont know, I mean ... is hard to read manga using a computer, and it takes less time to watch than reading :p but manga, when is printed, is a portable entertainment, you cant watch anime while going on bus or something like that.
but since I dont read on bus, and have broadband to download large files, I prefer anime :p
anime > manga

anime > manga
They both have their positive and negative aspects. Manga is portable, and it's usually what came first and has everything the creator wanted it to have. Sometimes things are hard to follow and envision though. Anime is good because you have sounds, voices, and music. It also depicts the action which is sometimes hard to make out in the manga (ie Trigun). The downside though is that anime usually contains filler material, and almost never has all of the manga's material in it. In the end, it all comes down to individual preference, and there should be no arguing which is better; it's on a per person basis.

Well, most series begun as manga chapters and continued to animation
Although that's not the rule
After that it is a question of basic aesthetics
To me it isn't a rule
Some series I prefer to read, others to see
There are some like Bleach and One Piece that I like both reading and watching
It is true though that animated series are more "complete" in a sence that they've got the movement, music and sound/special effects that brings life to them

Hmmm. i'm kind of in indecision. I like watching anime more than reading manga, but often times I like the stories and art in manga better. I guess it just depends on the anime and the manga and which one I like more...
Take DNAngel for example. I really can't stand the anime but I like the manga a lot. That's mostly because the anime has a lot of fillers and the plot isn't as good as the mangas'. Plus, a lot of the interesting parts of the manga never made it into the anime...

Manga because I'm a little bitch and can't wait for the slow anime. Anime just to see how it is different from the manga and to see action sequences animated. Bottom line: though I like manga, I originially prefer anime.

It depends. For example: I prefer the Naruto manga to the anime.

It depends, really. In most cases, if you're after a really developed storyline, the manga is always the best. I prefer manga most of the time, but there are some series that I like the anime of better, such as Naruto.
I agree the most with sonryu.
Personally, I like manga best because it's cheaper to buy and - for some reason - the comedy makes me laugh ten times more. The expressions and little side-notes just tickle me pink. Plus cheesy emotional moments are in my control versus dragging on forever or having to fast-forward through. Unless it's a high-action manga in which case I get so confused I have to watch the anime to figure it out (Fushigi Yuugi).

Manga is the best. the story is more complete & its just fun to read. & when they turn it into an anime most of the time its ruined. (chobits, fruits basket, DNAngel, tsubasa)
I'd have to say anime cuz it's better in my mind.
I prefer manga over anime because the story is much more in depth and the humor is expressed in a better way. On the other hand, mangas usually last really long, much longer than anime, and than can be really boring.
Anime is good too because there is animation which makes the action more captivating and the music makes it so much better. Then again, if it is an anime based on manga, a lot is missed out which can sometimes get on your nerves because you feel the story is incomplete. A great example for this would be berserk.
So, it all comes down to whether you prefer to look at detailed images and read in-depth stories, or have sound effects and watch amazing animations.

Both have their ups and down....................
..........manga takes longer to read, but tends to be way more in-depth, and it can take a little bit to get use to reading from right to left when you first start, also sometimes manga being black and white is complained about and manga takes way less time to download.....
.........anime on the other hand takes less time to watch, but you dont get as much of a in-depth story out of it, but you get colorfull moving pictures with sound effects and all, but it takes more time to download...... i personaly like both, but there are some people who would rather be watching anime, and some who would rather be reading manga.
