This wallpaper gives us a perfect example of how a simple manga scan can be turned into a beautiful vector. Not only did danalm trace the lineart, but he also added amazing details and a simple, yet wonderful background. Furthermore, the wallpaper shows us how the monochromatic style can make your work look really interesting.

Watched episode 1 by Static-Subs last night.

Not bad for a first episode unlike *cough* Negima *cough*. Character designs are slick and reminisience of Kanon's (one of my fav art-style). Story pace is kind of laid-back but has enough humor spaced throughout the episode to keep you from falling asleep. The co-main character (Misuzu Kamio) is a bit of an airhead but I can live with that. Plus, her random tripovers are kind of amusing (a bit). As with Kanon, there's the trademark GAO. Don't have much of a problem with it but doesn't exactly sound natural when Misuzu says it (even I felt weird trying to say it out). Compared with Kanon's UGUU I prefer Kanon's due to it sounding more natural, easier to say it and also sounds cute when said by Ayu Tsukimiya. Characters? Not bad, but too many were introduced in episode 1 alone that too little time was spent fleshing out their personalities. It was just random encounter, short chat and bye. Kanon had one whole episode dedicated just to one character encounter, making it a really rewarding experience. That's all for my first impression of AIR so far based on the first episode. It's shorter than Kanon (12 episdoes and 1 movie vs 13 episodes and 1 special) so I'm kind of worried if they are able to pull off the same magical ending Kanon had without making it feeling too rushed.

Revision: 13 episodes, 1 movie & a 2-episode special

So what is the whole thing with making this 'gao' noise? Is it supposed to be an expression of cute exasperation or something?

Well, she says it when she's in a pinch or is about to cry.

I was actually pretty surprised. I had read a couple of quick summaries and seen a screencap or two of Air, but I didn't think it'd be something I would like. However my friend nagged me to watch it. I liked it. It was nicely done and the story was cute. I really want to see more. Any show where I don't immediatly want to throw the female protagonist into a firey pit of flaming death is generally a good thing in my book. I dunno, I find that damn girl too cute for her own good. XD The gao thing is supposed to be her immitating dinosaurs by the way since she really likes dinosaurs. Gaaaoo!

I thought it was beautiful. I always loved Air. The animation is amazing and I can't wait to see the rest. I really prefer Air over Kanon, because Kanon was sort of slow to me. Air is so peaceful in a good way ^^ and the Gao thing, is one of my favourite parts. It's so cute how she says it.

Things start to get interesting in episode 2. ^^ I'm really liking the look of this show even more. Also Potato is the coolest dog ever. XDThat and the Gao Gao Stegosaurus shirt made my day.

Currently subbed by:
Koi
Static-Subs
Kage-Subs
Takeda
Triad
Lunar

I currently have Static's but am thinking about switching to Triad's. Currently awaiting for quality reviews at APN. Personally, I feel that 5 groups is a bit of an overkill for Air. I'd prefer if some would start out on the undersubbed titles (those having only 1 or 2 groups subbing it). That would give more diversity and help them from being overshadowed by the more established groups. But then, if they could match or overtake the better known groups in terms of quality, that'd mean instant fame.

Mmm...I have Static's too, and Triad is generally a bit slow with releases so I dunno about switching for me. And yeah, don' t get me started on the amount of groups doing Air or Negima. It's annoying as hell. It was the same last season with Bleach and Gundam Seed Destiny. Rawr. In other news, I want this t-shirt. XD

I am currently going for Lunar. There are really lots of groups doing on it. Hope I am not going for the wrong choices.

Well i think this is one of the most hyped shows of the season, at least for me was worth the wait and i'm really happy with the current aired episodes, amazing animation for a tv series, beautiful backgrounds and very likeable characters make this the best show of the season IMHOAbout the fansubs it's always a good idea check some forums like the ones on Anime Planet for reviews (my choice is Koi and SS) well i'm a fan of the series already

I've already switched over to Koi since APN says that it is a solid release (still waiting for a review on the translation and editing). However, Koi definitely tops the other groups in terms of typesetting and encode quality.Another factor is that SS is kind of behind (still stuck at ep01).

Lol, I'm probably the only being that downloads the the most recent releases regardles of who is doing it... well not really, if it's a group that I've never heard about I wont get it, but I dont have the patience to stick with just one suber Air really surprised me, I usualy hate anime that go over with cute stuff. Air dose go over, but somehow, it doesn't anoy me Maybe the charecters are more ''belivable'' duno, all I know is that I will defnitly stick to this one
