Computer or Laptop?
My friend owns a computer and i own a laptop, we argue about which is better (pretty dumb i know) so which is better? Because we both use photoshop to draw using our touchpads/mouses... which one can you draw better with? (directly drawing with the software and not a tablet pen)
I think that using a mouse for drawing on adobe photoshop, since you have a bit more control compared to when you use a touchpad. I also use a touchpad in making forum signatures or avatars, but it does not really matter to me.
By the way, you can also use one of those USB mouses and attach it to your laptop. See for yourself.

Yeah it isnt a biggie...though laptops have 2 advantages:
1)Portable and can be carried anywhere that means you can make a sig or wallpaper anywhere
2)It can run on batteries if the light goes out laptops will run but if you have a UPS so will your PC
And PC's have 2 advantages as well
1)Very powerful
2)Very stable cause you dont put PC on your laps like you do with the laptop..

Interesting... i'd probs drop my laptop if i had it on my lap lol
Hhhmm...I think majority will be PC because it's stronger than laptop but if I choose between the two, probably it will be the laptop cause I can carry it all along and I'm not having problem with the touchpad cause I used a USB mouse.heheh
Laptops don't tend to be called Laptops anymore, and are instead called Notebooks because of people getting burnt. Also laptops work best on a flat surface so the vents on the bottom aren't blocked.
As for touch-pad versus mouse, I'e always found mice to be far superior for almost any task.
Mice, touch-pads and graphics tablets are all hardware. You cannot draw directly with the software.
As for which is better your laptop or your friends desktop, well that would depend on their specs.

Both! Computer and laptop, no problems with them because they can both help me in my studies. T_T
I love my laptop better than my dads Computer :D

Clearly mobility is the laptops strongest point, and processing power is the strongest for the pc. I personally prefer pc's since I've no need for it outside of my home. The mouse would definitely give you better accuracy. Actually I'm just not a fan of touchpads at all.

I'd go with a desktop computer for gaming and downloading stuff, but rather a laptop for school and business stuff :D

This is all there is to say as far as this matter is concerned.
You can't really make such a direct comparison of the two platforms. Notebooks/Laptops are made for portability and to take as much of your work around in a single package as your equipment allows you to. Desktops aren't really made for this purpose at all. So, it's almost like comparing an aircraft(commercial, military or w/e..) with a space shuttle. Both are obviously in different leagues but somewhat the same category. You can't have a space shuttle transport people from NY to Sydney/Tokyo or wherever. Or arm the thing with JDAMs and Sidewinders and have it patrol your airspace... (<--- that'd seriously be a 'WTF!!' moment... =_=") Same ways, you can't have a F-22 or a 747 haul heavy equipment to the ISS. Both the types crafts are designed to serve a specific purpose. Just like that, both types of computers are designed to serve their own purposes. They have their own capabilities, some of which the either of the other can't do, and shouldn't really be compared.
However, if you're bent on comparing the two, then as Dragoon said, comparing their respective specifications would be the appropriate thing to do which should answer your question.
Although in most cases however, desktops always surpass laptops/notebooks.
Oh and btw, this thread doesn't belong in this section. It belongs in the Motherboard section of the Forum ^^

Well..let's see.
The big plus to having a desktop computer is it is easy to upgrade, when laptops are not. But laptops can be taken anywhere you want, and desktops stay where they are...on a desk.
Unless you have a fancy one with a big 3000x1000 flat screen monitor built into or onto the wall, with a wireless keyboard and mouse on your lap and chair...Laptops pretty much work just the same (I own one ^^)

As much anyone else stated:
Desktops:
More power
Bigger screen
Extensible
Laptops:
Portable
Battery backed
Compact
I'm preferring laptops now as I'm usually not requiring huge amounts of CPU power/memory/graphics and it's darned nice carrying all your computing needs on your back ready to be used anywhere you want. If you do photoshop (or other precision requiring) work, keep a mouse/tablet ready to hook to the laptop. For day to day use I'm quite fond of the touchpad (tap to click and it's friends are great inventions).

I rather do like the feel of the laptop keyboard xD
Other then that, it's pretty much PC all the way for me!
