Personally, I don't think it's all that bad. Unless you're hosting the meal. If you invite someone over and serve them, then yes, you should give them the go signal. It makes them feel more at ease.
I'm not really offended if people eat in front of me without offering me anything, though. I'll ask for food if I want it. Either that or you should just bring or buy your own food. XD

I have an intollerance to certian granes and ingridients in food. it's called coeliakie
It's no allergy. allergy's are just annoying and have a not very ong lasting effect. I however can die of eating the wrong things.
So I can really eat nothing aside from my special diet.

I have a friend who ALWAYS asks for a piece but offers none
(he's lunch is always like sandwich while ours are like fries so yeah)
It gets PRETTY annoying after a while, especially when you are damn hungry.
It's nice to ask them if they want some, but they aren't obligated to.

Yeah..im a sensitive guy...so when someone eating without offering me,I just keep silence...but my heart...duh...truly hurts

Chyea! I know what you mean! It makes me suffer ...just havin' to watch them eat in front of you like that, when your flippen hungry and starvin and they're not nice to offer us some...It's rude and annoying ^^.

If my friend is eating something that is delicious and i've never had it before, i expect a small taste =) If its just normal food its fine, sometimes its nice to offer your friends food if you know you can't eat it all.
A lot of people do that too me it does get really annoying but
i get used to it sometimes

Does it really matter? Offering is a gesture of kindness NOT a given rule so not everyone is going to be as considerate as others so its not an expectation. What matters is that your a kind person and you offer and you hope one day that person does the same...
I hate it when people eat near me and I'm hungry. Then on top of that, if it's a train or bus, they leave there junk behind, it's like slapping you in the face.

Gah, thats happened to me before when ive been over at a friends...i think i just about die from temptation. i just feel like screaming or something. especially when you havent eaten yet and know it may be a while till you eat again o_o...its deadly...sometimes ill end up asking people if i can have a bite or something..lol
