Fighting Games (2D vs 3D)
I love the japanese drawing, because its clean, detailed, beatiful, etc. So, I started to like fighting games because of the art. The fighting effects were good, they make me feel the impact in every single hit. The fact that you can choose wether to put certain frames or not create a sensation of speed and force that I,ve never feel in 3D fighting games. Chec for example: Marvel vs CAPCOM 2, Guilty Gear XX, Street Fighter, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure... I love this games!! But Street Fighter EX, Rival Schools, DoA... they just make me lost my pacience!! They dont, look natural ( the movements I mean ) sometimes I feel they are slow as hell, the expressions of the characters, well... all of it.
RPGs, Survival Horror, Suspense, Action, etc. looks great and astonishing in 3D. Those games were meant to be 3D. But fighting games... I don't know. What do you think?

I think tekken 5 is a great game b/c i've been playing it to death recently. Although i generally love 2D games more t5 is a great example why 3D fighting games can be good as well. It's fast and not really blocky-feeling like the past tekken games. i think as we progress with the 3D scene games will become only better. In other words 3D fighting games will be more fluid and less chunky like old 3D fighting games. So a good 3D game can match a good 2D game. and well quite frankly some old school 2D fighting games suck so you can't say 2D is perfect for fighters.

I like both but since tekken is my favourite fighting game of all time I chose 3D.
Tekken is tekken, there is no other game, you can’t compare, the others are just button mashers, to play tekken you have to learn the physics of the game, you need to spend time in the game, not just pressing the buttons randomly.

Not just DOA, you have soul calibour too, in that type of games you can even win with the eyes closed, I don’t like that.

Against an unskilled player maybe... try that against someone fluent with the mechanics of the games mentioned and you'll spend most of your time being blocked, deflected and countered.

Indeed. I play DOAU with some buddies every once in awhile, and decided to button mash against one o' them only to be countered for every single strike. And that's pretty embarrassing.
Recently though, I've been more into the Street Fighter compilations that have been released recently. The nostalgia is sweet, and the fights are more interesting for me. And having Spider-Man in MvC is a bonus. >_> Dead or Alive doesn't do it for me anymore, and I don't like the fact that attacks do so much damage. Same goes for Soul Calibur, which I've recently tried.
There's nothing more natural in 2D fighters in which the character will jump 10 feet high. Don't get me wrong, I prefer 2D fighters.

When I said that I was comparing to tekken, try to mash buttons randomly in tekken and you will see what happens, nothing lol, while in DOA you just have to press the same buttons and you can make a lot of combos. Its easier see a noob beating someone experienced in DOA than in tekken, someone who really knows how to play tekken can only be defeated by other great player.

I have no personal preference for 2D or 3D fighters. I play Guilty Gear XX #Reload just as much as I play Soul Calibur 2 or Naruto GNT3. Though I may be the only person in the world that liked the Street Fighter EX series more than any of the 2D games. :P

Yes you are, there is no way there are other people who have the same opinion as yours.
Woot, Tekken fans! I don't really examine how well drawn or how the graphics are done for a fighting game, because I'm playing it for the game, not the art. Having the art done very well is just a bonus.
I grew up playing Street Fighter, and for the longest time I remember shunning the 3d fighting games because of the blocky lego look did not compare to the graphics of the 2d games. But games such as sc3 and tekken 5 have really gotten me hooked.
All I can say is, the Rumble Roses girlies are friggin' gorgeous in fully-rendered 3D! ^_~ I suck at wrestling games (and fighting games in general), but I play the game just to admire the way they move. I can't really offer an opinion on whether the fighting engine is better in 2D vs 3D, but some games definitely call for full 3 dimensions rather than 2!

I like 3D fighting games because it allows you to attack and dodge at any angle. The downside is that it's harder to connect special, hard-hitting moves on the opponent while in 2D fighting style, harder to dodge and only allows attacks head-on, that's why counters were made and it is easier to connect special moves in 2D style. I would prefer 3D on this one.
