Yeah the other thread was locked for no reason so let's try this again then since the last one seemingly broke no rules but was locked.

I guess we can start with the MLB. Opening Night is tonight with the Braves and the Nationals, two teams I hate but I'm hoping the Nats do go for the sake of my fantasy team.

NCAA tourney selects the other two Final Four teams tonight in light of the fact that most of our brackets are busted. Stephen Curry is going to look to just go off on Kansas, and I truly hope he does cause the kid deserves to be in the final four after averaging over 30 points per game so far this tourney.

The Olympics are in August but they are still a ways away even though the torch is still in route to China.

I have no idea what's going on in the UEFA or English Premier League, perhaps someone could respond to fill us in.

The NHL is coming oh so close to the end of the season with teams like the Flyers having only 3 games remaining. I do hope the East win the Stanley Cup this year because it would be a huge discredit to how tough the east really is. It's like the NBA where the Western Conference play-off spot are filled with teams 10-20 games above .500 with the Eastern Conference having a team that's close to 10 games below .500 making it in. Anyway, it's going to be interesting and I'm picking either the Pens (hate the Pens) or the Canadiens to come out of there which is cool but they'll probably face San Jose in the Cup Finals cause the last two seasons Detroit won the President's trophy they choked in the play-offs (1 of them was to my beloved Oilers).

Thoughts, comments, concerns. Let's hear them people.

Question to those visiting the thread:

Are the New York Mets, with the acquisition of Johan Santana the new team to beat in the NL East? I certainly see myself saying no because I'm a diehard Phillies fan, but then the loss of Aaron Rowand in the outfield and at the plate makes me wonder if we can actually win the division again after it came down to the last day of play last year. I certainly don't think the Mets have the offensive power to battle Philadelphia, but then again neither does Washington, Atlanta, and Florida, so being just not as good as us, with a pitching rotation a lot better than us, can the Phillies actually pull the division off, and if not are they the NL Wild Card team then? See I question with a division as strong as the Cubs' NL Central is we can actually still take the wild card, and with the way the Brewers played today it certainly looked like that, but will they, with the great offensive power, now take the wild card, or will the Rockies be going back to the play-offs on the non-division winning ticket?

Also, are the Tigers going to make it to October? The pitching rotation seems to have taken a hit and the offensive breakdown that was today's game with, Polanco going 0 for 6, can the Tigers hold up amongst divisional pressure?

The things that I personally watched frequently were NBA Basketball and Soccer. First one was Soccer. I mean as a German born Asian, it was very common to me to watch German Bundeliga Soccer. I always favored the teams that wore jerseys of my favorite colors. Green and White were the colors I hated most, so I hated for example "Borussia Mönchen Gladbach" and I favored Schalke 04... I didn't know anything about statistics until some time later. I just enjoyed watching the games and hope my favorite teams would win.

Later on my aunt brought us some tapes with NBA Basketball games at the beginning of the 90ies. This was the first time I ever knew something about NBA Basketball, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and co... And my brother started loving NBA Baskteball, too. I became Chicago Bulls Fan and he L.A. Lakers fan. My favorite Player was Michael Jordan and his favorite Player Magic Johnson. We became huge NBA fans ever since. I swear to you, from the beginning of the 90ies we developed ourselves into NBA experts, we began to know almost all different NBA PLayers on each NBA Team, and we improved our English throughout English Sport Channels. We watched every single "NBA Action" Episode in English before NBA ever became known in Germany... I could write pages about our NBA knowledge that we had, but it would take too long to say everything...

Other sports that I like is Martial Arts, I was a former Taekwondo student and a Black Belt holder for two years...

This is probably the one part of the year I hate the NBA the most, because it trudges all over the NHL Play-offs, which are shaping into quite a great contest this year, with Boston and Montreal going 7 as well as San Jose and Calgary going the whole 7 games. I'm not a fan of the NBA, but the NHL in America is struggling, and the NBA play-offs just seem to always overshadow them, even with the East being total crap this year. As for soccer, I've been watching the UEFA Champions League, and am waiting for the semi-final legs to air this week on ESPN. The soccer come Olympic time will always grab my attention, and it should be a good tournament. Go Liverpool! Anyway it's also baseball season, but the Phillies are crapping out so far, only 9-10. Me and my bro are taking a trip to New York city to see the Yankees in Yankees Stadium before they demolish it at the end of this season. Then later in the year we're taking a trip to Washington D.C. to see the new ballpark they have there. Great stuff.

Hockeys the best sport, personally i cant see how people can watch baseball and not fall asleep half way through, the best part about that game is the beer and the beachballs.

Hey I take offense to that! Baseball's a great sport! If you played it at a somewhat competitive level, then you'd understand everything that goes on. Pitching is like a mind game with the batter, and there's so much that goes into every at bat like how to shift the infield and outfield, where to pitch to the hitter and what not. You know it's a traditional game that has no time limit, and it shows what the youth think of tradition today, brushing it all off as boring. Baseball isn't all physical, it's got a huge mental part to it as well, and that's what seperates it from any other sport. I find it highly offensive people call it boring without understanding all the managerial decisions that go into the game as well. If you're the manager, you've got a lot on the plate, and it's guarenteed that you're line-up card has got a few scratches on it before the end of the game.

What you say may all well and true, but these are things that are happening on a very minute level and in the heads of the players and coaches on the field... Im sorry but im not going to like watching baseball because of the potential mind game going on between the pitcher and batter, when for all we know the pitcher isnt try to psyche out anyone but is just singing the 3s company theme song in his head.

baseballs a pretty fun sport to play but if you want to convince me to watch it your going to have to come up with a more convincing argument than that.

That's incorrect, I pitch and I definately know that you need to keep track of where you've pitched in an at bat, and where and what the hitter is biting at. I mean baseball is the true mental sport, and that's probably what makes it enjoyable to watch. I mean, I just finished listening to the Pirates win a great close game 3-2, and I bet if you had watched it with someone who loves baseball, like say me, you'd a thought differently about the sport after the game was over.

Yeah that's like me rooting for the 76ers, sure they're in the play-offs, but god no they aren't making it past the Conference Semis, if they even get there by a stroke of luck.

its still not a good argument, you represent probably less than 1% of baseballs target viewing audience, by being a person who knows baseball strategy and was once or is a pitcher.

this means nothing to the rest of us who have little to no understanding of the game out there an are watching it,.. truth be told i played baseball for years and am still bored to tears when i watch it simply because it is a slow game by nature.

its cool that you like it, and im glad you defend it fuck i defend hockey when people say its all about fighting and other stupid comments, but I still dont deny key elements that make up hockey such as it being a fast paced hard to follow game as well, as being very violent at times...
if someone thinks hockey sucks because of these things thats cool with me,

So what im getting at here is im not sure what your defending, i think baseballs a slow boring game and i dont like it,... its in the nature of the game. its what makes somepeople like it and some people hate it,..

and id have to say thats fact

Is anybody NBA fan among us? It is NBA Playoff time and I favor LeBron James and trhe Cleveland Cavaliers. I was a fromer Michael Jordan Fan and favored the Chicago Bulls. The most legendary Duo in NBA history Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen were almost unstoppable. Then from 1996 on Dennis Rodman has joined the Bulls and they became a Trio who made another Threepeat.

Michael Jordan was the best ever Franchise NBA Player in the World because he fought for it bleeded for it, he managed to overcome many, many crisis before he became NBA Champ in 1991. The most legendary crisis was the Bad-Boy Pistons Crisis. 3 straight years, MJ and the Bulls were punished by them in the PLayoffs until 1991 they finally swept them. Jordan had a way harder time than Magic Johnson and Larry Bird who already had an experienced supporting cast in their Rookie season. But Michael Jordan didn't have that. That came 4 years later with the additions of Scottie Pippen and Horace Grant. Even those two Players however had to develop themselves before they could compete at a higher Level. ... Ever since they had defeated the Pistons 1991, the Bulls became a legacy of the 90ies...
