How do you know if someone liked you?

I am wondering how do you know if someone liked you? (How are their reactions that make you noticed that they (he/she) have liked you?) I am just curious because I like someone but I am kind of a shy person and a girl that I didn't make a move first, but I don't know whether I really like that person or just a brother and a friend. So I am kinda confuse in my feeling.

Hm...i guess the person that likes you stare at you a lot, talk about you a lot or anything to do with you.
People who like you would talk to you a lot esp girls... and they will try to be helpful to get your attention... sometimes you'll immediately know if they like you or not cause when they talk to you, they talk random stuff. Those are my experiences with a person who liked me... I rejected the person tho XD
There was this one kid earlier this year who liked me. he started to talk a lot to me, trying to make me laugh and stuff. but it sorta got annoying... this other kid did things to get my attention like poking me in the ribs and tossing the hood of my jacket off and on my head. and little things like that guys would do to get a girls attention. i guess you can tell that they like you cause of their behavior was different compared to when we first met when you're just friends.

I'm just looking at what is in your user info, ponga, and it says you're 35 and female. True or not, I am a little confused by your question, basically because you're asking two questions here. You want to know if a person likes you, yet at the end of your post, you state you're not sure if you like the person or see them as a brother/friend?
So my question to you would be, if you found out the person really liked you, would you then want to take it to the next step? You can tell if a person likes you by just observing their body language around you. A typical hint that they like you is they make eye contact with you (the non-shy ones) or they talk to you on just about anything. A guy can tease you since he is trying to do anything to make contact with you without out-right saying he likes you, just to see your reaction.
Obviously, a wallpaper/anime/manga website is hardly the place to get satisfactory answers on a topic like this but you're old enough to know you go with the gut on these things.

I seriously need people to tell me that sort of things since I'm not really sharp in noticing that kind of signs. Some girls have told me that they used to like me and now I regret I didn't pay atention >_<

The only ovious signs i can think of are the person that likes you tries to spend time with you or help you when you have a problem. Or it could be just a good friend.
If a person likes you then they will probabli stare at you for a long period of time. Some might even walk behind you quietly. If you talk to that person, they might be very shy and blush alot, or maybe that person will talk alot and really fast beacouse they are nervouse. Some might want to run away from you since they are very shy. But not all people are like that, you can never truely know if that person likes you or not, i guess you have to get to know that person better and maybe when your very good friends you'll ask that person if she/he likes you.

The sure fire way i found is to just ASK them out on a date. you can tell immedatly then if they like you or not (or in a romantic way). i know its all hard and all for the first time, but its IS neccessary to know for sure, instead of beating around the bush (like i used to do in HS). in the long run, it will save you alot of unneeded stress and confusion, plus its not a big deal asking someone out. sure, they may talk their friends about you, but if your mature enough you can just brush it off. people go out all the time, and most of them dont even work out, so its not a big thing like your getting married.

When that person treats you differently from their other opposite gender friends. Girls touch their hair alot, smile excessively, laugh excessively, squeeze your biceps, keep trying to spend time with you. Guys stare like idiots(an even more obvious sign is when you catch them staring out the sides of their eyes), tease them more often, stand closer to them, they keep trying to spend time with the girl. Both sexes may get unusually awkward around their crush.

Sometimes it's hard to tell cause there are those who show sweetness but as a friend and not something else. Personally I treat most of my female clos friends that way^^
