An anime WITHOUT sweatdrops, chibi insanity , magic or blood...
Ok, so im sick of the normal anime formula of
insanity + magic + blood + chibis + vein marks and sweatdrops = EXCELLENT!
I mean ok, one of these is ok, but all of them!i just cant take it,
I recently picked up fate stay night, and just cant get excited in it despite all the fanfare out there because of this very reason... as it basically as all of the above crammed into it...
Perhaps ive just grown out of what anime is today, But hell im still here searching in vane for an anime with a story that is not set in crazy land, or on blood island.
what i really want is the anime equivelant of the show lost,
a drama with mystery and alot of human interaction to drive the story...
Is it just me ?
does anyone else crave something new besides the same old boring formula?

Ghost in the Shell, perhaps? If you haven't watched it yet, however, don't let the main character's choice of clothing scare you off. I was a bit iffy on watching it just because of her skimpy outfit but I was wrong to judge the show based on that since it turned out to be excellent.

It's not just you. I can't think of any anime really without one or all of those things but if you count movies then Hayao's doesn't have sweatdrops and stuff haha. I guess you'd have to look for a more serious show or something..
Most of the more serious anime, like Ghost in the Shell, Gundam, or Akira don't have much in the way of chibi and sweatdrops, though they often have plenty of insanity and blood. I'm a huge fan of UC Gundam, so I'll have to recommend that. They have drama, character interaction and development, decent thematic value, and giant robots. The OVAs in particular, like 0080 and 08th MS Team, are big on the characters and story, not just the action scenes.
If sci-fi and mecha isn't your thing, there are plenty of others too that can be good. I don't know if you'd be interested in Princess Nine, which doesn't have magic and is set in a realistic world, but it does have plenty of teen angst. Then there's the other end of the spectrum, the movie Perfect Blue, which has plenty of mystery. And blood.

Perfect Blue deals with insanity and there is a little blood but it really is a great movie and you should take a look at it. Like everyone has said before, Ghost in the Shell is just really a sci-fi anime. It can get a little odd at times but it is really a good series...both the first season and 2nd gig.

I see what you mean, I remember there was a time I felt like that..... and it sucks big time =S... no longer thou, since im more selective with the manga I watch..... lets see which one you might like.....
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, since is rather good... I mean it has blood, but in a special way... I may say this series is rather special and different than all the others you just watched....
the other one that is REALLY good (thou I believe you already should know about this one) is eureka seven.... that one kicks ass...... the debelopment is really good
NANA is a more everyday kind of dramatic/romantic/comedy kind of anime which has something that really calls my attention into watching more of it... I dont really know why I like it this much, maybe is the reality of it......... and now that Im talking about drama like animes..... I really like series like BECK and Paradise Kiss.... due to their real kind of situation...... they are not really "fun" to watch, nor they are eyecandies per say... but in drama wise and artist intentions...... they are REALLY good......

like NANA, Paradise Kiss, Suzuka (very..typical life like, but interesting)
BECK is awesome too. About a band
Suzuka is like ordinary love story like..sort of. kind of athletic.
RAY = this is an anime about a doctor named Ray and i find it interesting too.
Jigoku Shoujo- there's a bit "magic" but mostly, the anime is not centered around that. it's more like...conflicts, and ...hell girl taking revenge for you.

If there was an anime without all that stuff than I don't really think that would be an anime. Sure i have see some without some of those stuff but not one with all of those gone.

Hmmmmmm. An anime without all those stuff. Nope. Don't think ive ever seen one.i did see Akira but that had blood and war. so ya.
I agree with blueangel. jigoku shoujo, the enidng simply loved it and even more, enma ai is the best.
and beck is really good two, if you can ignore the first 5 episodes, after that it stars getting very good

Maybe you need to watch some with action but, over that, something with "storyline that mades you think a bit more".
Try watching the five ovas of Sentou Yousei Yukikaze.
If, in another hand, you like the dramas and the art style, try Gankutsuou, it is 24 episodes... i love them all.
Maybe Soukyuu no Fafner... but it is a bit... weird for some people ^^U

Dood, watch Jin-Roh. The coolest anime movie ever. Fully hand-drawn and a very interesting storyline. Theres some blood in it, but what do you expect when you give a police force bullet reflective armor and MG-42's. Its a little on the old side but still one of the best anime's i've seen.
Ok what i'm about to say may sound rude but I have to say it. If your sick of something then do something about it! sure yeah there are a lot of animes like that but you know why cause that is the culture of Japan if you don't like that then make an anime of your own. or write one and send it in to somebody in the animation field. and if you can't draw then pay someone to draw it for you! I'm just sick of people always compaining about anime cliches if you don't like it then change them! you know that you can. anime doesn't have to be "just made in Japan" it can be made anywhere with any style.
