Haro in Gundam 00
2 years 1 week ago
Well, the Halo robot it's a Gundam trademark, so excluding some older series this one will always have a part in an MSG series.
This one is a really interesting exception since this unit is smarter and helpful
in many ways, I like it that way

I read in one place xD, that in Victory Gundam there is one Haro, that always help, in the battlefield!. (i dont watch Victory, not yet!!)
But Haro is some unic in Gundam series, that is true.
And i love this Haro, because is usefull, helpfull, not just in the battlefiled.
The haros have to be like that!
A family of mechanic haros that act like R2D2! this is fun. finally haros dont just annoy me, they can waste people too.

The first Haro is created by Amuro Ray in UC (Universal Century) 0079 perhaps just as a geeky project, and this green basketball sized robot is then somehow popularized as a toy for people of the UC. Kamille Bidan manage to get hold of one in the second Gundam series "MS Zeta Gundam" of UC 0087; since then, Haro has become - as everyone else is saying - a tradition/trademark for the Gundam series.
As you probably know, Haros in the CE (Cosmic Era) and AD (Anno Domini) are smaller then the UC Haros, but their functions are more of less the same, as far as we are told. The UC and, as ForHeisZombie suggested, AD Haros can intercept people's brain waves and bounce around randomly saying words of comfort. The CE ones probably can interpret brainwaves as well, but they tend to have weird responses like: "I don't want to admit it! I don't want to admit it!" >_<
I personally love how these cute Haros are also able to handle parts of battles, repairing and other odd jobs in Victory Gundam and Gundam 00.
They are simply awesome 'robotic pets', if I may say, and Gundam would be not be the same without them.

Gundam seriously needs to renovate itself or else it's never going to catch up or regain its prestige as in the earlier days. Gundam has too many of its useless traditions, outdated superstitious concepts, & the trademarks like Haro that just screw up the entire series
I can only guess that people who absolutely loved gundam as they saw it when they were growing up joined the later gundam projects --> allowing this tradition & establishment to develop
but really in comparison to Full Metal Panic & even Neon Genesis Evangelion, Eureka seveN, etc. the mecha action seriously sucked in Gundam Seed (I'll talk of 00 later) & the mecha designs were ugly (compared to "..")
like you'd see a gundam kinda shaking, flying in air, clouds coming by, nearby gundams virtually standing still or getting blown up
the gundam turns its arm aims fires
& then you see a red line across the blue background
& then you see another robot which then blows up
In Gundam Seed everything was in cut-screen just like in the original gundam series - so they completely messed that series up
whereas Full Metal Panic & the other mecha actions had cool moves that were not cut into screens but were in a flow so that viewers could follow & all the action was quick & pretty reasonable in terms of effects, realism, physics, etc (like "sliding" "turning" & sound effects in par with physical aspects as momentum, acceleration, friction, drag, etc)
in gundam seed the robots could move anywhere they wanted to like paper figures moving across a paper board
well in gundam 00 they got really good with the mecha action & pretty good with the robot design & everything but still these unnecessary things like
"Setsuna F Seiei, Exia, launching" or "Exia, destroying targets" "annihilating the enemy"- which are absolutely unnecessary
::like if this was supposed to be communication, they should go something like
"Sandbase, charlie in alpha" "engaged in combat" etc - (i'm sure these are all wrong) more realistic, military terms "location 32N 13W"
like Haro is also absolutely unnecessary - if its purpose is running the mecha with functions that humans shouldn't waste time doing or have difficulty doing etc, why not just incorporate them into the mecha itself?
ah, another example is like in gundam seed - this connection between "commander" (the blue eyed blonde haired guy who's good to Kira) & the evil dude with the mask
-like they know that the other is nearby
similar to gundam 00 - between Setsuna & that terrorist mercenary leader - they sense that they're near... that kind of mythicism could be acceptable back in 1980s but it's really an outdated concept in 2008. (I think that this kind of superstition is common in East Asian cultures)

Haro was the closest thing to a pet in the original series. That is, it was just a cute thing that was there to comfort Amuro. I think Gundam SEED made Lacus's "Haro swarm" too annoying for my taste, but SEED annoyed me in general. It's a new role for Haro to have a direct role in combat as he does in 00, combining the cuteness of Haro with the power of an uber-sniper Gundam.
I think Haro is totally kawaii
!..Love him
!..Love him
Ahaha qft
about haro actually helping instead of just being annoying

Well you can say that a lot of the speech is redundant. But keep in mind that the Haro is NOT just for co-piloting. The Haro that Lockon uses is also responsible for the maintenance required for the Dynames. Notice the contraptions with the dock for Haros that are used to help in the Ptolemius? They are responsible for the maintenance too. they also function as pets and do not need to be carried around. They can hover in space as well.
And the two sensing each other, it is more like they recognize each other's moves and actions which prompts the connection. They have no precognitive sense for each other.

Wow, is it just me or is Neena's Haro really really annoying? At least, I hate its voice...
The first Haro was cute. The second Haro was... weird. The eyes did not seem to be what I consider Haro-like. It looks like a killer Haro. The voice was also completely off its rockers...
Rei0zero"Setsuna F Seiei, Exia, launching" or "Exia, destroying targets" "annihilating the enemy"- which are absolutely unnecessary
Well, its just the cool factor I guess. The only other reason for them saying that would be probably because they were updating the whole team (other pilots and the command operators) of what they are doing or what they are about to do.
As for the haros. I don't see why some people have complaints about them just being annoying or anything. Just think of it as a high-tech "plushie". Though I love what they did here in 00. Haro is more R2D2-ish.
Honestly neena's haro kinda creeped me out. high voice and evil eyes...not pleasant.

Agreed. Except I found it deeper than Lockon's Haro's voice. 0-o

Hahahahaha, I couldn't agree more with someone on this. XD!

Haha. yeah, Neena's Haro is EVIL!! even its voice is all screwed up. Lockon's haro is the way to go. who knows, since they're playing a semi-prominent role, they might actually do something important this time around.
plus Lockon's haro has to have some computing power under its hood, because Lockon uses it to dodge while he aims.

Yeah~ I finished the hair of my vector~
