As the description says, I think that the observers are very similar to the SEELE from Neon Genesis Evangelion - like their audio-only forums.

It also seems that the UN dude is like Commander Ikari from NGE.

Any other ideas/traditions that are being carried over from other animes (not previous gundam series)?

Also, Setsuna F Seiei looks like Haruhi from Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi.

The sniper dude who pilots the Lockon Stratos looks like the sniper dude from Full Metal Panic - Kurz Weber

The beautiful commander with whom Patrick Chrysler falls in love looks like a combination of Mao from Full Metal Panic, & the officer dude from Eureka seveN.

Well..it might be some dejavu or... they try to mix things up to create new things. That's mass media..in some sort of way. But i still can't thing setsuna = haruhi... it would be a nightmare.

The drawing style is that setsuna = haruhi. i can almost imagine.

Some thing I noticed is that they have involved a lot of non-gundam related people in the series. Every one that you saw a lot of had a significance, so i wonder where all these people are going to fall into. With the latest episode we have had a lot of possible story line twists appear, and some even happen.

Now you guys are just pointing out the ridiculous. Try to remember that a lot of series my leech off of each other, but they are not always directly relevant. In series like Lucky Star, you know that it is a satire and they parody just about everything. On the other hand, If this series has anything really similar, it probably is a coincidence.

But seriously, Setsuna and Haruhi? Where did you cook up that one?

However, the flag is most definitely has the flavor of an old mecha series that I for got the name of. The characteristic flat appearance is too much to miss.

the fighter planes from the old mecha anime, i forgot what it was

i definitely like the idea of the flag.
but i wish that they'd come up with a fighter robot
that actually makes use its legs
by diving to the ground, then jumping straight up in order to dodge a missile, etc.

Lol, I didnt see that coming :) I like the idea of the Observers being resurrected SEELE, but mind you SEELE was not only observing and looking at Ikari's hands but also giving orders, sponsoring NERV HQ and EVA series and was also responsible for carrying out HCP. The Observers, on the other hand, are quite different in this matter. All they do is 'observe' how CB acts and what influence their actions have on the World. Allejandro is a contradiction to that, but hey :) The show has to have some bad characters too :).

If it was up to me I'd go for Kaji being more like Observers from Double0... <or the other way round :D After all Kaji was first :D>. He almost never acted as was ordered to and admited to Shinji and Misato that all he was doing was for his own sake...
