There must be some new elements being added to RE4 for PS2, but I don't think the graphics of PS2 version will be better than Gamecube version. And the load time for PS2 version should be longer than GC version.

WTF?
Resident Evil 0 is a prequel to 1.
Resident Evil on GC was a remake of the Playstation version.
If you want to go by storyline...
Resident Evil 0 (2002) GC
Resident Evil (1996 PSX, remade in 2002 for GC)
Resident Evil 2 (1998) PSX
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (1999) PSX
Resident Evil Code: Veronica (2000) DC (Code Veronica X was on PS2 with extras)
Resident Evil 4 (2005) GC, PS2

For #2, it's all about preference I suppose. In the Gamecube version, the graphics are more crisp, and from what I hear, the controls aren't as sluggish. However, in the PS2 version, there are a lot of extras thrown in.
1. if you want to go in order of the storyline, you have to start with RE Zero, but because RE 1 (or RE Remake for the NGC) was the first game there are some references in RE Zero which are quite hard to understand without RE 1. So my recommendation is:
RE Remake (beginning of the story)
RE Zero (Story of the supporting characters in RE 1 and some happenings before)
RE 2 (aftermath of RE 1)
RE 3 (plays at the same time as RE 2, but its better to know the RE 2 Story and some places which are reused)
RE Code Veronica (Follows directly after RE 2 Storyline)
RE 4 (play it after RE 2, cause Leon is in it.)
2. The PS2 Version has an additional "Sidegame" called Separate Ways, where you play as the supporting character some parts of the game in different ways. BUT the graphics are worse, so the game will loose some tension. There are no real lighteffects, which make the night in the rain or the castle pathetic. The textures are singlecolored, too (walls are only grey, wood is only brown etc. no variation like green moss on wood). Polygoncount is poor as well.
3. Maybe Barry Burton. Always helpful and has a colt to stop these annoying hunters from headcutting. ^^

You're all wrong.
1. Moonstonedragon said all you need to know. I recommend Resident Evil 1 (Rebirth), a great remake of the very first RE, a piece of legend.
2. I didn't played PS2 version.
3. Wesker is definitly the best character.
Moonstonedragon - storywise its Resident Evil 0 first as it shows you what happened to the Alpha team before you see the remaining survivors in Resident Evil 1
Resident Evil 4 on the ps2 loads a bit slower & doesn't look as crisp. But otherwise it is still a great game with the extras included.

Thank you all of you ^_________^
