Laptops or desktops?
Everyone says desktops. But once your used to having high end laptops desktops are just done.
High end laptops cost a fortune comparing with desktops with similar specs. Besides, as I said before, laptops aren't easy to upgrade, which makes your 'high-end' portable computer, worth nothing in a few years.
I've got both, but 95% of my time is spent on the PC. It's been nice having the laptop since I'm in college, but I really havn't used it much. If I didn't program as much as I had this semester, I'm not sure if it would ever have been on. Oh yea. It's been my experimental linux box as well. Before I do anything crazy on the PC, I test stuff on the laptop. Of course, you don't need a laptop for that.
I prefer Dektop because You can upgrade But in a laptop You can work anywhere , anytime would you like to do it...

Desktop, I just bought a new one. Gaming one too, a beast of a computer. great thing ^^.
I must admit I do like desktop best. Even though it is a pain when you
need to shift and is huge, it good points overdone their bad points.
One of the common problem is the lack of power laptops have compared
to desktop. You can have a better gaming experience with a desktop
instead of laptops. On the second hand, the audio quality. Indeed, you
can buy a good speaker and plug them in your laptop and you will have
the best audio coming out your laptop, but audio equipment was already
installed in the laptop.
Why should you go and buy another speaker then? Whilst desktop, it is
a must for us to buy it. Thirdly, printer and scanner. Fourthly, the monitor.
I don't know why, I just can't get use to it.
However, I do admit that it is a convenient device for you who travels a
lot, and maybe for those who need it everywhere. The other advantage
is the ability to have wireless networking. Though desktop can do the same,
you wouldn't want to bring it around with you, will you? It's heavy and it's
pretty impossible to do...
Nevertheless, I still do prefer desktop.

If i am comfortable at home in my room, I'd go for a desktop... expandable, more powerful and upgradable without having to spend too much...
But times when I am on the run like doing some research for my thesis, my laptop is far better... so it really depends for what use...
I am 50 50 for both..

To get things straight... with Desktop, do you mean the normal Computer?
For a few months now I have a Laptop of Fujitsu Siemens which cost almost 900 Euros. The only thing that is missing is Highspeed Internet, but I'll get it soon in a few days. For my part time job as a English Teacher in my cousin's house... I guess it'll be time to work with my Laptop there very soon....
So yes, Laptop seems to work fine with me

I prefer a desktop computer (the big tower-like ones, just so people know). Of course, there are times where I would prefer a laptop, such as when i'm traveling, but most of the time I'm on a desktop playing all sorts of games. They're insanely fast (when built and configured correctly), infinitely upgradeable, plus you can mod them like crazy, have you ever been to www.thebestcasescenario.com?
Laptops, you can take it anywhere with you and it's wireless. so yea...
Desktop for sure, because i dont like using laptop.. that ive to put it in a safe place when i wanna go somewhere, or i should bring it everywhere.. and its quite impossible to upgrade..
so the best choice for me : desktop, easy to manage and upgrade.. so on with the problem-repairing~

BOTH... if I have enough money
I like laptop. with my laptop a can take it place that is the main thing. It also doesn't take up a lot of room. I don't play games on the computer so I didn't need to consider when I purchased it. I did have to get a mouse for it.

Desktop because of the fact that you can easily upgrade a desktop, cheaper, more powerful, can fit more into it (2 DVD drives for on-the-fly burning, 2 hard drives, 2 processors. 4 videocards (2x2 GPU video cards so basically 4 with SLI and much more) and the it is so much more personal. Meaning that friends always want to use your laptop when you have it around but only a select few will actually use your desktop. I know that when I am at home and my friends come over and I am on it, then almost never ask me to use it and kinda either watch or whatever. It is yours and respected. Though I have a few friends that will come over and just go on my desktop.
[Edit]
I keep reading "wireless" for a laptop plus pver a desktop. Do you know that unless your neighbors house is the maximum length away from your signal they too can surf on your internet bill for nothing by tapping into your "wireless" transmission. These transmission do not do a good job at making it where only your computer is allowed access to the network so wireless can be a con when it comes to laptops

Depend If I'm home a lot then desktop but if I'm out a lot then probably laptop but personal I like desktop better.
