Intel or AMD Processor

AMD is cheaper than intel...
i'm using amd system...5000+ and 780G mother board...
however..intel is good for playing game...like I7...
amd just can sell lower cost to resist

Can't tell which processor is better? My friend says AMD is better than Intel cause i think it runs faster than Intel and it doesn't cost much when you have a AMD Phenom processor. My computer CPU has a Intel Pentium D 2.8Ghz which doesn't run that well when it comes to play high-intense games such as Crysis and GTA IV.

If your doing a heavy load of games, high quality videos then go with Intel.
i say buy a core2 quad or the new core i7 (pricey)
BUT
if you are just a simple gamer who doesn't mind lowering some settings but will still do heavy gaming and HD movies then get at least the AMD phenom x4
NO, i repeat NO
AMD is not better than Intel performance-wise
but is better price/performance ratio.
Intel is way faster than the AMD procies -- see their cache sizes, AMD's low cache size serves as its bottleneck while Intel has massive cache size 2MB, 4MB, 8MB, and even 16MB.. -- not sure w haha while AMD's cache are 512KB, 1MB, and 2MB. not sure with the newer ones but i assure you the larger the cache size, the better the performance.
anyway I use AMD Athlon X2 5000+ 2.4GHz and liking it. i love how it saves power -- neat way if your saving power consumption at home.
either way, its all up to you. if your after longetivity go for the intel quad core cpu's
GOOD LUCK!

Well, before the release of the Intel quad core processors. AMD was leading in single core and dual core technology. Having been a long AMD fan due to its overclocking abilities and great timings on compatible mobos; It was a hard truth to accept that Intel processors caught up in CPU technology the moment the quad cores were released. Intel is also much cheaper...and does not lack in performance as well(leading atm). Overclocking is a must...and now with the new intel i7 motherboard...all versions or most of its mobos comes with an onboard clocking newbie frndly thingy lol. BUT yea~ further more....its great and electricity energy saving wise >.< sry Carlhenry~ but I MUST HAVE ATLEAST A 750W Neat Powersupply =P and just develope good habbits like turning your comp off during dinner/food times. BOTTOM LINE. INTEL>AMD (as of now) no questions asked almost in evry aspect...if your wanting to like yea...do browsing and other stuff(Drafting, designs, Complex programs)Look at MAC>PC(not amd or intel cause yea..saving some geekyness)...... other wise gaming PC>MAC.

I guess intel its doing much better processors than amd
i have a pentium dual core E2160 and i think it runs pretty well for a lot of apps and some old games like doom 3 and age of empires i

Your friend is stuck in 2005.
You're not doing that much better. The Pentium D is essentially two Pentium 4's strapped together.

I buy intel only since my last 5000BE, It died from ocing and I went and bought a E2200 to replace the system, long story short at stock the performance was similar, but that E2200 was able to OC to nearly 4Ghz and left the the BE so far behind it wasn't funny.
Guess its up to your friend to decide that. AMD after all is just for better multimedia for watching anime [especially

If he's not planning on making it into a Hackintosh system, go with AMD. It's better for PCs.
Um, no, actually, AMD isn't better for multimedia.terror-of-deathguess its up to your friend to decide that. AMD after all is just for better multimedia for watching anime [especially]

Runs better with Windows...
I have an AMD Phenom II Triple Core 720- Black edition. This processor is a beast. With the unlocked multiplier. I went from 2.8 ghz on each core to 3.6 ghz on each core with some very simple changes in bios. A slight increase on voltage, and a good fan. that's it. Running stable.
Triple cores overlock farther, because of the less amount of heat with 3 cores as opposed to 4. This makes a triple core generally better on almost all gaming machines.
Also they are cheaper, and Intel is losing lawsuits much like Microsoft in Europe for unfair trade practices.
All the engineers I know use AMD. Also the cpu with the highest overclock world record is an AMD chip. Intel does not hold a flame to this brand.

In my opinion, Intel is better when you want to do hardcore gaming and other stuff with very high cpu-load. If you "only" want to do office- and multimedia-stuff and every now and then some games, then AMD is fine.
Energy consumption is important, too. So I would only buy the energy-saving editions of the CPUs (just search for the CPUs with an "e" for energy-saving).
