After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

I based it on their frequency. I thought the performance would be the same as well.

Unfortunately you generally can't compare the performance of two chips by just their frequency especially from different manufacturers and even product families of one manufacturer. Otherwise the old Intel Pentium 4's at 3.8GHz would be the fastest processors around.

From the reviews I read a while back I seem to remember the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 being reasonably faster than the AMD Phenom 9850 and I'm also pretty sure the E4700 is faster than the X2 5000+ as well.

I'll have to see if I can find some performance comparisons.

EDIT: hmm here's one for the Q9300 v 9850 LINK.

Ok then.. Well as I said before, I'm an AMD person for the price. My friend had a problem with intel CPU's. But I can't remember what it was.

Intel Core 2 Duo FTW right now price and speed wise i would choose Intel Core 2 Duo. For someone who as used both AMD and Intel i prefer Intel over AMD

How does a bigger price tag make you choose a CPU?

Hmm... Apparently I was wrong about Intel CPU's not having 64-bit support.

Who said anything about choosing a processor because it cost more?

People seem to be commenting that at a certain performance level Intel's processors are cheaper than AMD's. Or looking at it the other way, for a set amount of money you'll get a faster processor from Intel.

Whether or not this is true at certain price/performance points is another matter. I haven't been looking at the CPU market too closely recently as I'm not looking to upgrade at the moment.

Pfft. AMD's fastest processor right now is about as fast as Intel's mid-range Q6600. AMD can only compete on price right now, Intel has the market on performance, period. Plus, if you bring overclocking into the mix...

Man, I wonder when AMD will catch up. It seems like AMD is always one year to half a year behind INTEL in every step. Their fabrication process is always so much slower than intel. And AMD also need to make more efficient chips. Intel just basically jocked AMD's old strategy at being efficient...It's working like crazy. Everyone of my computer friends are so hyped into Intel cores now, even the ex-AMD fanboys...And I don't see how AMD can really make a comeback. Even their ATI chips are losing market share. I just wish AMD will shake up and start the price war again so it can lower intel's prices.

I LOVE AMD. An AMD processor has been in every custom build computer I ever made.

It really depends on what your going to do and what your price range is. I mean intel is awsome for gaming because of its high bus speed, and AMD is awsome for its nice workspace. But thats just my opnion.

Intel is really on top of things right now. their fab tech is about a year or two ahead of everyone else. Rumors say they will release 30mn tech by the end of 08, but those are just rumors. Also with the Nehalem doing away with memory going through Northbridge, being graphics capable, and the new Larrabee comming out it, Intel could dominate for years to come, however I think AMD will still have a place with atleast low end processors and they might make a nice market for themselves with their Fusion chip. I think a lot of OEM's would be very interested with the Fusion.

AMD and Intel have bounced around a bit over the years w/ AMD catching up momentarily only to have Intel hop ahead, rinse and repeat.

Intel is cheaper, more efficiently, uses less power and produced less heat, all with more cache and clock speed.

AMD used to wipe the floor with intel but since Core 2 Duo its been all intel.
interestingly, alot of consoles use amd cores as they dont need a large amount of power to do what they need to do.

if building a new pc. INTEL

It depends on the user, if its used in hard-core gaming & heavy 3D rendering, choose Intel. Intel overclocks better & performs better than AMD and their penryn now is energy efficient. =)

A lot of consoles use custom-ish processors. POWER seems to be the in thing right now (with the Wii and Xbox 360 using variations). The PS3 just did its own thing (although it's still based on POWER).

The DS uses two ARM processors, and the PSP uses two MIPS processors.

Perhaps you're thinking about GPU's? AMD acquired ATI a couple of years ago, and a few consoles use ATI graphics processors.
