My sister recently bought a new computer.

It is a HP pre-assembled one. It came with everything, OS (Vista) installed, monitor, keyboard/mouse. We decided to hook it up to our old wireless mouse & keyboard desktop made from Microsoft instead of using the wired ones HP provided because my sister needs the desk space. We installed the latest driver for the keyboard. Now the mouse and keyboard locks up whenever the screensaver goes on. We can't restart the computer or anything, we have to hold the shutdown button on the tower to turn it off. At first, we thought that it was the keyboard/mouse so we used the one that HP provided instead, but same problem occurs. Anyone experienced the same problem before??

I really dislike Vista now. D:

Run Windows Update. There was a patch released some 3 or so months ago that addresses the issue.

Did you tried to make a system restore? if not, do it and see if the ones that HP provided work.

We've installed all of the updates already. :<

The computer is brand new, there isn't any reason to do a system restore. We literally ran it for about 3 hours and then the issue began to run.

The patch may have been an optional one then. If I recall where I found it I'll provide a link.

Are the mouse and keyboard wireless? I don't like most wireless stuff, because it always disconnects and runs out of battery.

Maybe it's a option; you should look at the screensaver-options. What if you just turn off the screensavers? In this time of TFT-screens, you don't need them anyway. Are you shure the computer doesn't go to standby?

Hm i got that same problem with my new pc.my new keyboard doesnt work on my old pc but i just switched back and got along with it^^
if you cant fix it,change it,right?:P
