LOL! I agree with you, but my wallet won't. Windows just get so expensive nowadays.
Hmmm...
Ultimate will likely have nothing particularly interesting or money worthy for the non-commercial user, were I to upgrade it would be to home premium like my current Vista install, though I don't plan to anytime soon.
Considering quite how much an OS does... the expense is relatively justified really, if the CPU is the brain, then the OS is the mind of the computer, so quite a vital component.

How is this any different to previous releases? Vista was released in the same versions and XP was made available in 4 release versions.
Not the end of the world.
Not the end of the world.
I'm still on XP and Windows 7 is about? But I can play most of the games I want to, having a too powerful system for the others, and use all the applications I want to. Where's my profit?
As long as my old program can run in XP why bother buy win7 that definitely more and more expensive, especially with the hardware requirement, so we got double budget here sigh
Windows sure is pushing it nowadays, it usually take them a few more years to give birth to a new ver. (XP>Vista>7) of windows, wonder what push them so far.
Been impressed by the demos of windows 7 ^ ^ . But I'll stick to fedora, since it's free ^o^; , and if I do buy windows it's probably a pirated one (_/).. .

My friend says that Windows 7 isn't that good and I should better stick with XP or Vista (preferrable XP). And yah, I'm a XP user because Vista or Windows 7 really doesn't interest me as long as I have a desktop that can run my applications, it's ok for me.
I found window 7 to be a great operating system.
To clarify things for most users posting about this topic. Windows 7 is NOT available in stores yet. If you have it its ether cause your compagnie got versions of it our your a pretty l337 persone and knwo your way to 2600 your self a copy. I know some people got a bad built. If your looking for the right one 6956 seems to be the best ver.
Now for those of you out there asking the diferences between xp vs. vista vs. windows 7
1. Well windows 7 supports (depending on the build) drivers all the way back to win98 drivers, Im able to run devices that i could not run with win xp and vista.
2. Vista is crap, get it off your system as soon as possible and downgrade to XP or upgrade to windows 7. (users with an older system stay with XP)
3. Windows Vista was the same thing as windows ME (AKA: Mestake Edition) A crappy bunched together operating system not compatible with anything. With windows 7 you get that compatibility back.
4. Stabilaty and speed are definitely there. Im running it on a dualcore 1.8 laptop and its stable as all hell. Sometime where XP and Vista would crash windows 7 well slow the hell down and then it gets thrue the problem and continues to work.
5. Windows 7 has this neat look and feel ALMOST like a MAC interface feel to it! But it has its advantages. Options for active monitor detection, the new menus for graphic options are great and the feel is much improved since vista and XP.
6. The action center is a prog that actively scans YOUR antivirus and spyware software to make sure you keep them up to date and scan once in a while. It also detects any trouble you may have with drivers, stability and many other aspects of running your PC and ACTUALLY comes up with some useful solutions to your problems you may have.
Il keep it down to this for now.
If you want to know more just message me ^-^ i could go on for hours . . .
Or i might post more depending on forum reply's.
P.S. If your "friend" says it isnt that good id ask for an explication as to why this person thought so?! ^-^

7 flavors hé... the same as Vista. But what... limited avaibility for Ultimate? What kind a stupid decission is that if it turns out to be true. While I personally would be pleased with Home Premium, I would still go for Ultimate for just in case. But I'm not planning on buying Windows 7 when it comes out, so I would be disappointed if Ultimate isn't avaible anymore when i decide to buy Windows 7.
PFffttt...... LMAO
OK ok i have to be honest here, The only time i PAY for any microsoft products is when its a Game. Lets be honest here Microsoft overprice everything they sell because they are gready basterds and know people need the software. I own legitamit keys for most of my microsoft products but thats only cause i got them free throe work. Would i ever buy a microsoft operating system? HELLS NO!
Download it or get a copy when you buy the machine!
*cough* torrent *cough*
I do not suggest you downloading windows 7 unless you have a valid key before hand for the right version.
Now in a perfect world where i would not have kids and the world econamy was in the ruff shape its in and i made 6 times my salery THEN i might consider paying for an microsoft OS. Until then il be happy paying for Legit Anime, Music CD's of bands i like and Games i like!
Thats right people, if i realy like an anime, music group or game il actually go out and buy it! Trust me the guy at EB Games loves it when i walk in the doors. Pre-Played ofcourse if possible. But i do own The Limited edition and pre-ordered copy of Fallout 3 ^-^. So before i get even more off topic. . .
As i said about windows 7 it seams to be much more compatible with drivers and games then windows Vista. Hell i can even run old dos games that did not work on XP! ^-^
If you know what your doing then Windows 7 Ultimate is the way to go!

I'm currently running vista on my PC and the only reason for that is because I couldn't find a Mac of equal performance hardware wise. Microsoft is absolutely terrible when it comes to their operating systems. Why on earth would you need more than one version of your operating system? Mac is definitely more expensive but their operating systems are more uniform, functional, and most important don't come if several different flavors. When it comes down to getting a new operating system I'm definitely going for Mac no matter the cost. Windows 7 just seems to be piggy backing on vista and a fix to vista that we should not have to pay for.

The have different SKUs so as to not burden all with the cost of features they do not want or will not use. This isn't exactly rocket surgery.
Why is anyone even mentioning cost. Its not for sale yet and you should get it for free :P
