After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

I have been keeping an eye on the Windows 7 release date. I have a five year old PC, and I was hoping to get a brand new laptop, and since Windows 7 is coming out, there is no point in getting vista in my opinion since 7 is way better or so I've heard. Up to this point, they have not mentioned a date. They have mentioned that they will not release any more betas, and that it will go straight to manufacturing when they release it again (no more betas or tests).

The expiration on the Beta is in August. I would speculate June would be the absolute soonest. However, I am feeling like it will be any time between June and September. I don't think it will be any later than September for sure. And it really depends on how many bugs and problems they find with the beta, and how soon they can get it ready for release at this point.

What I have been doing is going every day to Google, clicking the "news" link, and typing in Windows 7. It is a great way to get the latest reports. I hoping that I will have enough cash by the time Windows 7 hit retail! I personally think it would be a waste to get a new laptop with Vista since 7 is on its way.

Because someone asked for the reason behind multiple SKUs. Comprehension helps you know.

This is the situation where I would simply reply "don't know... don't care". I don't like the idea of migrating to other operating system just because a new version is coming out. OS is not an application like Winamp that you can simply upgrade at any time. Upgrading the OS means that we have to invest more time and money to re-learn everything. The fancier the OS, the more time and money would eventually be wasted. Not to mention bugs. This is Microsoft, for crying out loud. The only product they released without bug is the notepad.

I don't hate Microsoft or anything, but I suggest that we give this OS a bit of time to mature. Just like Vista (wow, how I've gotten used to vista... I remember how much I despise the product when it was first released...)

Actually the only product that MS released without bugs was dos.

Keep in mind its the basis on witch almost everything ran.

Even notepad had its bugs.

The big difference and the reason why people are so hipped about Windows 7 vs. Vista is that its closer to win XP in the scene of using it (AKA not much to re-learn) and its much more stable then vista. AKA already has less bugs then vista.

I guess that why we are making such a big thing about this. By the way is there anyone here besides me who is using Windows 7?

DOS.. i forgot that.. lol. You're right.. :D

I think when they wanna make a new OS, try to completely make a fresh OS, not derivatives.. If it's just an upgrade of Vista, Microsoft should make it a service pack 2 for Vista instead.

The resource consuming nature of newer OSs is another considerations for most people, they simply demand the latest hardware and not every person would gladly upgrade on the spot (me for example, unless it's extra memory for graphic/video editing).

Well, I haven't really seen it yet so my opinion might be a bit biased... maybe I'll install a demo just for fun research when they release it.

Windows 7 is pretty much an update of Windows Vista. But, of course we are talking about Microsoft here, they'll squeeze money out of anything.

Personally, I tried the Windows 7 beta and didn't like it much. The main reason being the task bar and UI bugged me. I've really gotten to like Vista. At first it was a bit iffy with all of the bugs from it having just been released, though really that was expected, all programs and OS' are bound to have bugs when they're first released, XP had them. However, ever since SP1 I haven't encountered any problems since.

Eitherway I won't be updating, for one it's a bit of a waste of money, if I've already got Vista then there isn't any need for a new OS.

Six versions? That's ludicrous, just another method of Microsoft to squeeze more money from consumers...

That's a (stupidly) bold claim. I'd stake my life on DOS containing bugs just as everything else Microsoft has produced.

Ya but i hear everyone complaining about microsoft having 6 versions prior to this. DONT forget that macintoch does just as bad.

MAC OS
MAC OS 2
MAC OS 3
MAC OS 4
MAC OS 5
MAC OS 6
MAC OS 7
MAC OS 8
MAC OS 9
MAC OS 9.1
MAC OS 9.2
MAC OS 9.3
MAC OS 9.4
MAC OS X (10)
MAC OS X (10.4)
MAC OS X (10.5)...

And im sure im missing versions inbetween. So dont forget you had to pay for these too. The point is that os makers are greedy and want to make money cause they know they can make money cause we dont have a choise to upgrade.

Same with redhat and some other ver.s of linus or unix some of those where going to be free (some vers are) but if your just an average user and want something user friendly that is going to work with your games then TFB your going to have to pay...

(unless you know your way arround the system)

============================================================================
Side note
============================================================================
Also as for my DOS comment im referring to DOS 2, witch when i started programing in 1989. Did not have any glitches as it isn't really an OS it was simply a shell that compiled data and made it readable to the Hardware in order to run the apps. Apps made for dos might have been glitched but DOS it self (being only a cross between hardware and software, not a self running interface like mac os or Windows) was not buggy. Other programs made to run in dos. Example: the first viruses where simply commands that would bypass the user command and run orders to make dos do unwanted things. Also in those days you ether had to run the command it self or have it setup as an auto boot. DOS would not crash if you left it running for 3 months, it would not delete data because it felt like it, It would not fill up your ram cause it felt like it, it would just do what it was told to do.

And if you realy want to go to my first language learned on a Computer (not PC) was Commodore BASIC, AKA PET BASIC. Now on that platform you could not even create a virus cause there was nothing to erase or destroy. If you had a loop running you simply shut it off, lost all your data and started over. :P The good old days of Computers :P

I think "the versions" here refers to the "ultimate", "corporate", "home basic", etcetera crap. I never heard MacOSs having those. cmiiw..

True.

If he is ref to those then ya but it means that there is going to be a cheapy ver and a exppensive ver. hopefully making it more affordable for people who cant afford the regular 250$ standard OS.

For what I've read, it's much faster, take less ram,(cannot say have less bug but maybe less crash, errors, etc), easier to use.
It's all better then Vista, require the same specs and is 3 years newer(the beta).

I will be keeping an eye on it for sure.
