Macs and PCs, depends on what you want to do.
If you value gaming, get a PC, hands down. If you want a inexpensive machine, PC. If you want a secure PC, Vista has out performed Mac OSX consistantly in secuirty tests, PC.
If you want a nice set of included software (iLife) and some fun features, Mac. Apple does also have generally nice customer service.
Macs are also useful if you do heavy programming due to the terminal feature!
I own a iMac, Macbook Pro, and 6 PCs so I know both sides of the fence here.

I don't know what it means with PC or mac. But maybe PC is non from apple manufacture. (correct me if I'm wrong).
Actually i like PC more than mac.
Because PC can be a MAC after all (but don't think about the notebook) and you can improve the performance than MAC that has fixed architecture.

For general email, words processing and internet browsing I would say the Mac is better. Games? PC definitely.

I'm no expert, but I never heard that one before. What I i do know is that with Parallels, you can run windows on a mac - dont think you can ever run MAC OS on a PC.
Yes, you can try to run OS X on PC. It requires serious modification. Even if you managed to get it run on PC, some of OS X services might not run properly or disabled.
They called it Hackintosh.

I think neither is better than the other. macs and pc's have two totally different audiences.
Hah Mac's vs PC. Each of them have their strong points and weak points. However, it's still at the end which one is easier to fix when something goes wrong. I fix computers and laptops as a job and when an apple comes into the store, in my head I sighed and almost dreaded working on it especially when it's hardware. I have to admit software isn't my thing and I usually can catch on fast with software and how to use programs on each mac and on pc's. When fixing laptop, one would think it's hard on both macs and pc's but in reality it's super easy on laptops since each part can be easily reached (most of the time). However, on a mac book, just to reach the hard drive or even the RAM, you almost have to disassemble the whole entire thing just to reach it. In addition, the way the mac is built, it's also a pain to put it back together when finished fixing due to the plastic tabs that are easily breakable. I might be bias but when it really does come down to buying a laptop for me, it's price, specs then ease of fixing if something does go wrong.
Macs are used for graphic work and video editing and the like. The best of the video editing software 9final cut pro) runs on make, and shake (VSFX software) only runs on linux and OSX and the price difference between the two is DRAMATIC with the apple version being cheaper by a few thousand last time I checked.
While graphic software such as photoshop runs okay on a PC, Mac's run it better. I can almost guarantee that no one hear uses photoshop for it's animation features...and i'm not talking animated gifs. When I had to do what I do on a PC at school, they would crash every time. PC's also freak out when using flash intensively. My Mac Pro can run flash incredibly well. Again, thats not to say that pc's can run these programs, they just don't run them AS WELL. Not to mention, adobe has always programmed for the mac first, and then ported it over to the PC. If it is developed for mac first, it will run better on the mac. Just like if it was developed for the windows first, it will run better on windows.
Those of you saying "you can't build your own mac" are wrong. Yes, you call apple and get a standard machine that you can change a few things on, but once that computer is in your hands, it's yours to play with. The only thing you're locked into place with is the Processor. I ended up upgrading and installing graphics cards at work since we were doing some heavy 3-d rendering and the graphics cards we had couldn't keep up when trying to check the renders. I also installed extra HDD's.
And I'm sorry, but you cannot beat applecare in terms of support. When my laptop HD failed, I sent it in and they replaced it and had it back to me in 3 days. They picked it up and dropped it off at my doorstep.
The computer best suited for you depend son what you do. if you're an accountant, it really doesn't freakin matter what you use, but if you're a graphics person, you damn well better know how to use a mac.
Personally, I don't play computer games, so I can't comment on that aspect. I've never liked to play computer games. All I have on my mac is pacman and asteroids on my dashboard.

Mac and PC have their pros and cons
first of all, Mac is running ever so smoothly is probably because they built their own machine, and they even made a regulation so people don't install OSX on any other PC except their's. So it's not because it is Mac, but it's simply because Apple PC's have high standard for their PC and because of that OSX can run smoothly. But some programs do run more smoothly on Mac.
I have to admit Mac is one of the most stable OS out there, and because it's UNIX it is less vulnerable than windows when it comes to virus. But the price is just over the top, it's even more expensive than my PC ~__~; .
Personally, I use Linux because it's simply free, and the possibility is endless. There is almost not a single program that is on windows or Mac that can't be replaced on linux, example:(GIMP=Photoshop), generally though. And it's developing on an amazing pace, and oh yea no virus here ^ ^. (openSUSE user)

Ive found pc's far easier to take care of, without ever sending it in to the manufacturer or store. Almost anyone, with some experience, can take apart and put together a pc.
As for ease of use, ive found xp and vista to be ideal for my needs, although not everyone is comfortable around technology and software. All the apples ive used, ive had some trouble figuring out functions and whatnot, but thats easily remedied with some experience.
Any software takes getting used to.
The one thing that keeps me from ever buying a mac tho, is the lack of software support for games and the like. Graphics software and music dont matter to me, i use them, but no matter the os, you will have software for those things, not so for gaming.

I like PC just because it is cheaper, it is what I have grown up with, I can do more on it and because I like my RIGHT CLICK.
205ora05a single program that is on windows or Mac that can't be replaced on linux, example:(GIMP=Photoshop),
...I cannot believe you just said that GIMP = Photoshop.
The difference between GIMP and photoshop is dramatic. GIMP is the most not-user-friendly graphics program I have ever used, and has maybe 1/4 of the capabilities of Photoshop CS4. The very fact that I have to use Gimp to do any graphics stuff at work is the very reason I want to throw my ubuntu running machine out the window.
