Computer upgrade/build
1 Page: [ 1 ]
Hey, i was just seeking some advice in the matter of a upgrading my computer and using the other parts to build another computer to sell possibly for profit.
My current build:
E7300 2.66 GHz (not OCed)
4 gigs of ram (3.25 in XP SP2)
GeForce 9600 GSO 768mb
P5QL mobo
320 GB HD
Ultra Aluminous full tower case
500w PSU
Ive been thinking of upgrading to a Quad core processor, a fatality graphics card, and possibly another HD (i really dont use up much HD space really). More CD/DVD drives as well but they aren't blu-ray or anything, i just only have one at the moment haha.
id like to take the parts im replacing and just do another cheap build with them and possibly sell it. It'd be a pretty good dual core semi gaming rig. The graphics card will run Crysis pretty well at mid settings and i can compile edited videos pretty fast with the processor only being dual core.
it would probably be about 300 to upgrade my current build and another 300 to complete the other build. I could probably sell the new rig for 600+ to one of the rich kids at my school if not more xD so it'd definitely cover the cost of parts for both and make a profit if im lucky.
If anyone has any suggestions for parts ive just grabbed some reference prices from tiger direct so im sure their are some better deals out there.
new system Mobo only needs to have a 775 socket, and at least one pci-e slot.
only needs 2 gigs of ram and will run XP SP2
and only a small HD probably only 320 GB.
as for a case and PSU, just about anything will do and as long as the PSU works its good haha. 400w+ needed though cause of graphics card.
would love for some opinions and any Specific ideas for parts ^.^

I'd recommend saving up, between my i7 920 and my Q9550, you do notice quite a bit of difference.
Well seeing how you want the biggest bang for buck and not willing to let it become obsolete, do what I do. Buy biggest bang for buck then sell for minimal loss of money then buy the next biggest bang for buck. there might be a one week down time in between. I've been doing that for the past five years and recently stopped because I am out of the "major" gaming phase. (I still play games just not ones that I'd enjoy for 5 minutes and put in the beaten pile)
Buy a Phenom II BE Edition and your good and build around that and a HD 4870 X2 and yes I am an AMD/ATi fan boy but I love Intel equally.

I don't see any real need for a full fledged upgrade. That's a pretty good system you have with the exception of that Geforce 9600GSO. I would at least make that a GeForce GTS 250. And you might want to also get a DVD±R drive form LG
