Instrumental or Lyrical?
For me i Prefer instrumental music..and most of the lyrics music i download the off vocal of course..^__^
Hmmm, this definitely depends on my mood. Sometimes I feel like listening to lyrical, sometimes I feel like listening to instrumental. But I'll never mix the two types on one playlist 'cause that irks me for some reason. No idea why.
And to make things even weirder, I often sort it out to a single band/singer if I'm listening to lyrical music. I don't like mixing up my artists for some reason. 0-o Don't know why either.

Always instrumental 100%. If its lyrical, it sorta feels like the artist is trying to push their ideas/emotions onto you and it subtracts from the overall feeling of the song, or for me at least xP
I also like instrumental music a little more than lyrical. In instrumental music you can kinda detach your head from the constant stream of thoughts and words. Also, you can let your imagination run bonkers with what the music could be set to... like different fantastic places or situations. I guess you could say it's more earthy? Or something like that?
Lyrical music can add a layer of depth to a song though... I know there are some songs out there that just have so much more impact with words that melody alone could not achieve. Dreams to Dream is a good example of that... And also, lyrical songs are fun to sing to, it can get pretty interactive. We wouldn't have all the goofy antics of karaoke without it.
laaaaa
I mostly like instrumental though, since it's not too engaging and in general I can relax to it. Good shtuffsh! |

I like a mix of both. It also depends on my mood. When I'm working, I like instrumental music to play in the background.
Intstrumental!
cos they are speaking with no words, not even a whisper.

I like both actually
I always in the mood to listen to instrumental or lyrical. I guess there is nothing wrong with both of them. In instrumental i'm always amazed how people can play the song with instruments and with lyrical i always think how special a voice can be.

I like both instrumental and lyrical songs, but mostly the mix of them. In my opinion half-instrumental and half-lyrical tracks are the best. That's because they could start with lyrics to get you going and make you fall into the story of the song and then they could continue with the instrumental part of the song to keep that story alive until the song ends.
A good example for this kind of song (and I love it) is the song "From Across the Sea" from the band Jeniferever [ Click here to listen ]
It's in a complex measure, 6/4 , which is not a good measure for lyrics. Most songs have the 4/4 measure so they can sync the lyrics with the song better.
Personal conclusion: A mix of the instrumental with the lyrical is good.
Overall conclusion: It depends on your tastes.

I guess it depends, I mean I listen to Video game music that is instrumental and also listen to standard music with lyrics as long as the song/music is nice to hear and it sounds cool IMO.

Okay for me it has to be instrumental...i am a marching band member...i love to listen to instrumental because when i listen i can picture what is going on with the music...where as lyrical the picture is depicted in the song...

I like both. It's hard for me to choose which I like more.
My friends always find it strange I listen to korean music, since I'm not korean and I don't know korean. I don't really mind, because I'm more concerned with the beat (I'm more into upbeat music...), unless it's rap, then the lyrics should be a little moving. But I'm more about the instrumental part of the song

I like all three kinds, but I like em seperately as wel. A mix of both or just instrumental is commonly used, but I also love it when it's only lyrical with no music or other sounds at all. One of my favorite instruments must be electronic flute (If anybody knows Touhout they know what I'm talking about). Normal flute sounds good, but the electronic flute kinda gives a little more somehow. Still I love singers like Megumi Hayashibara which often in just at the beginning at the last chorus almost stop the music entirely, sings just a few seconds without any music on, and continues with music. If you ask me, it makes a very good combination.

With instrumental music you don't have to limit yourselves to the lyrics, you can think anything you like and the song gets boring not so quickly as the lyrical one.
