Instrumental or Lyrical?

Lyrical for me,
it makes the music feel so much fuller than the instrumental which is plain music. The lyrics add effect to the overall song. Try listening to Groovin' Magic by Roundtable [Gunbuster 2 OP] with lyrics and without. With, sounds 10 times better.

In my opinion... i prefer both of them... because both style are so good to hear... instrumental the best is the anime's soundtrack and the lyrical is the ranma's osts
I CAN'T stand instrumental music. I have to have something with lyrics.
Though I always sing along to my songs so thats probably the reason.
If an instrumental song comes on I skip right past it usually.

I prefer a good mix of both! Depending on the lyrics, some get very repetitive and in this modern day and age it's hard to come by something original although when you finally do find something like that it's worth it =].
It really depends =/
When you understand lyrics, it is really easy to be influenced by them. Sometimes so much that you won't focus on the actual music. The only thing I can't stand is when a song is very very repetitive >.< I like a song with a story.
But there are always exceptions. I love listening to orchestral music =]

It depends on the type of music.
For example, I really like some instrumental types like classical, orchestras, wonderful jazz solos or quiet musics (like shamisen, flute or piano)
But some songs, with a nice melody, meaningful lyrics and a nice voice, are really nice to hear. I like songs with a use of the voice luike one of the many instruments of the background, when the voice interacts with the background music. Some songs sound so deeper with the lyrics.
And I like the simple acoustic type. A guitar, a calm voice and interesting lyrics. Charming.

Depending on what mood i would be in, i would choose either or
for a more relaxed mood i would go for instrumental, for a more pick me up mood i would go with lyrical

I listen to both.
Ever heard of "For the Love of God" by Steve Vai? Those are one the best songs ever written in instrumental form and it doesn't need lyrics to express its emotion. Try it out, it'll blow your mind.

Instrumentals 100%
There's a few times when a vocalist can evoke enough vocal control to take my interest, but it's few and far between... at least for the type of music I play(abstract ambient soundscapes with heavy hip-hop beats).
Vocals from the likes of Alexandria from Soillaquist of Sound, Del tha Funky Homosapien, MF Doom, Radiohead, Cyne and a few others still get playtime from me, but for the most part... I prefer beats so intricate that it becomes hard to even fit vocals into them.

I like both. Although on most occasions I prefer instrumental.
Well, I must say that most of the stuff I listen to is probably lyrical, because of the ease in which you can (no matter how sadly) reproduce from singing.
But I definitely agree with you that a lot can be expressed in non-lyrical music as well. Instrumental stuff, like classical music is also really good, my current favorites are Chopin and Beethoven. But I will admit, I don't really get familiar with much beyond that.

I really like both. Instrumental has more memorable melodies to me. Its easy to get lost within them and just paint pictures in your head and stories. I like lyrics too because they can give different interpretations of what they are telling. I think both forms are great because I just love every aspect of music and what it makes us feel like. It can really change your mood and feelings for things. So both of these forms are really great to me. I really can't live without music it sure helps me along the way ;)

It's different.
Sometimes I'm in the mood for listening music with lyrics because the singers sings about topics I'm thinking about too at those moments. Another time it depends on the melody, whether it fits to my feelings or not.
Piano pieces like the 'Moonlight Sonata' from Beethoven play a special role when you feel sad for example. In my opinion the best thing helping you feel better then.
