Instrumental or Lyrical?

I can't say this or that..it always depends..sometimes words really mean a lot, but sometimes i prefer instrumental..it depends on the performer and my mood..I don't mean pop..i'm a jazz lover for isntance, however, jazz can be both and both ways it's great, so...whichever you chose..
I find instrumental musics more relaxing.
Usually at the start of the day, to shake up the remnants of sleep from my brain, I'd listen to vocals, not the heavy rock kind. I'm not a fan of those, somehow all that loud noises just don't sit well with me. Some Linkin Park, Tracks from some movie soundtracks, etc.
At night before sleeping or when I'm studying, I'd listen to quiet instrumental music, which would not distract my concentration. Some slower trance. Maybe some anime music...

It all depends on the music, and also my mood. If I like the lyrics and they're more than just lines repeated over and over or those clichéd lines that have been inserted into every song ever written, then I'll listen to those songs. When I'm looking for inspiration for a dramatic or romantic fanfic, or just feeling a little down or emotional, I go for emo or cheesy lyrics. XD But not too emo or too cheesy, of course.
But usually, when I try to relax or study, I lean more towards instrumentals, like anime background music. Some of them still have vocals (Yuki Kajiura's, especially, and a few of Koutarou Nakagawa's have chants) though, but they're still worth listening to nonetheless.
Sometimes I'll prefer to listen to lyrical, and other times I'll do a lot of instrumental. It really depends, because I like a lot of kinds of music, and I'm not too picky.

I really depend on the day and on the mood.
Sometimes I need something to awake me and then i'd listen to metal-it's effect is pretty good. But when i want to relax i listen to instrumental music, especially to Chinese and Japaneese. I really love Shyakuhatchi compositions.

It can vary, Instrumental music can hit emotions I personally cant get from most lyrical music, though I specifically like the latter when i want to sing along.

Instrumental or lyrical, I love both. But usually I also love hearing instrumental works that based on lyrical songs. Sometimes there are also anime instrumental music that are so good that I immediately love it as soon as I hear the first time, especially the original soundtracks works from the 3 famous Key games: Kanon, Air & Clannad.
Sometimes, I love listening to J-music, too especially the music that I've heard in the anime that I've watched, (despite the fact that I don't know Japanese, I still love them, partly because most of the time the voice of the female singers were so sweet & nice, which make me visualize a little beautiful anime girl is singing)
I like instrumental more than lyrical, but there are few instrumental songs that i find to be really good. so most of the music i have is lyrical. either way black metal lyrics aren't made to be understood, they blend into the background music. they sound nice but you don't actually understand them.

I will say is good mix of the two!^^if the intrumental not good, how good is the lyrics also waste.i prefer both of them mix together.this is my opinion.

Insrumental. For this reason, I listen to songs with languages that I don't even understand as long as the music is good.
It's true that many pop songs use similar lyrics, repeating still the same cliché. And I also don't like pop much.
Yes, I would say I prefer instrumental as well, many my favorite ones are only instrumental. And then songs with really meaningful lyrics.
When I'm thinking about it, lyrics are often my clue while looking for new music.

Well, both of them have their own strengths, they are even the same, just that they have different a different way of expressing the thought of the song, but most people nowadays listen to lyrical music. Instrumental isn't that bad, actually i prefer it depending on my mood, but continuously listening to it tend to get boring.

If a song has awesome lyrics but a boring tune, it wouldn't last very long on my playlist. I'd say I'm more biased toward the instrumentals than anything else. I'm all up for powerful lyrics, but if the instrumentals don't please my ears... eh.
Now if we have good instrumentals but lyrics that just suck (the over usage of the term, "OH BABY"), I'm gonna have to think on that one. xD

Personally I delete anything "gsdfgfg (karaoke)". If you mean that
Both are important to me, if the lyrics are boring, or not well enough sung, i won't like the song. if the instruments aren't composed very well, i won't like the song. i actually pay more attention to vocals generally when i listen to music, but the vocals have to be good! which is why i hate bob dylan. no matter how good the rest of the song is, or how poetic it is. but i also listen to a lot of techno, and it's because a lot of it is composed very well.
here's the order in which i pay attention to what's in a song.
rock:
vocals
lead guitar
rhythm guitar
bass (unless it's playing lead, then it takes 2nd)
drums
rap:
vocals
beat
is there anything else... rap sucks anyways
country:
same as rock but only if it's not too twangy... country pretty well sucks too
techno:
melody
bass
beat
classical:
piano
strings
brass
woodwinds
percussion (yes i know piano is technically percussion)
ska:
vocals
lead guitar
brass
rhythm
bass
drums
you should get the idea by now! everything in a song is important to me, any of those elements, if poorly done, will turn me off a song.

I'd say it depends on my mood. Instrumental music can really help me calm down, but music with lyrics seems more powerful when it comes down to emotion. Lately, I've been more inclined to listen to instrumental music even thought lyrics mean a lot to me. I also prefer folk or acoustic music with deep lyrics instead of something loud and repetitive.
