Instrumental or Lyrical?

I think I prefere instrumental music since I don't understand the lyrics of the most (Japanese) songs I listen too. xD That's why I love Anime/Game OSTs I've once watched/played. Sometimes I just like listening to the instrumental version of a song cuz the voice's just too horrible. =_= There're unfortunately too many songs like that.
It depends mostly, but in my opinion i think there is a drop in good instrumentals lately, neither the vocals are that good. only a few lyrical songs that have kept my interest long enough till now. For instrumentals, i think the only ones that i like were tsubasa chronicles, kanon and some gaming instrumentals such as the black mages for final fantasy series.
I'm not gonna just talk about lyrics and instruments but vocals as well. A good song is made up by good meaningful lyrics, killer vocals(which to me is something like the vocals of Switchfoot or Falling Up, I personally hate metal cuz' all they do is scream their heads off) and great instrumental atmospheres(which to me is either punk rock or soft piano...I generally like rock or ballads- whatever that genre is...) Anyway, music which is missing any one of these is just...well...awful. It's a pity to hear great lyrics and music, only to later experience the excruciatingly painful vocals of out-of-tune singers. So therefore, great songs, must first have the 3 basic building blocks of music: Instruments, Lyrics and Vocals. =]
I love instrumental songs that include the lyrics as a part of the instrumentation itself, what that means is that the lyrics really do not have a meaning but are included as part of the melody of the song, beautiful voices singing along with the instruments...
there is a lot of new age music around that is composed that way. I think I've read some comments from the guy behind Era and he explained his concept of music mixed the voices with the instruments to get a feeling of harmony
I also love japanese songs of course, I think most of the music I listen to is sung by women, I don't speak japanese at all but I just love their voices, for example you just have to listen to the live quiet version of BoA's "Moon and Sunrise" :)

Although I also liked instrumental music, but I prefer the lyrical more.It just fits me more, and the lyric sometimes contains a deep meaning to it,enough to make you cry.Sometimes the voice of the singer is just soo perfect that I get attached to it.Sometimes the lyric and the singer voice blends very perfectly, and making the song flawless.

For me, i like the instrument, because i listen a lot music from asia look like korean and japan but i don't understand their languages, so instrument is my choice!

I lke both instrumental and lyrical it depends on melody
many instrumental is nice to hear also lyrical
many instrumental is nice to hear also lyrical
I like them both but ive got a more soft spot for instrumentals than lyrical. Instrumentals are more moving than lyricals. Everytime I hear The Firebird 1919 suit i always end up with tears in my eyes. Few songs do that to me.
I find it a damn shame that no many people like listenin to instrumentals, especially my friends and classmates. I especially adore movie scores :) James N. Howard is my hero! Along with Christophe Beck who did the Buffy score and Yanni...yes, I said Yanni.
And I also adore the instrumental tracks of several anime's like Bleach, Angel Sanctuary, Tsubasa Chronicles and Full Metal Alchemist...and Ouran!

I am an artist, so I'd have to say both. The music has to convey the mood of the lyrics, and when the mood of the lyrics change, so should the mood of the music. I'm also a fan of acoustics (guitar and piano mostly) and love when there is a long musical break. Music is an important element in a song! It is suppose to move you and affect you, some people tend to forget this and focus on lyrics.
Lyrics, however, are important too. It's hard to appreciate songs with lyrics that say the same message over and over.
You have to have a good combination to create a unique song:)

Instrumental or lyrical, I love both. But usually I also love hearing instrumental works that based on lyrical songs. Sometimes there are also anime instrumental music that are so good that I immediately love it as soon as I hear the first time, especially the original soundtracks works from the 3 famous Key games: Kanon, Air & Clannad.
Sometimes, I love listening to J-music, too especially the music that I've heard in the anime that I've watched, (despite the fact that I don't know Japanese, I still love them, partly because most of the time the voice of the female singers were so sweet & nice, which make me visualize a little beautiful anime girl is singing)
I like instrumental more than lyrical, but there are few instrumental songs that i find to be really good. so most of the music i have is lyrical. either way black metal lyrics aren't made to be understood, they blend into the background music. they sound nice but you don't actually understand them.

I enjoy both just depends on how i feel. But i guess i lean more on instrumental because most of the music i listen to has little or no lyrics. It also tends to have more emotion.

I prefer instrumental rather than lyrical songs. Because these instrumental songs helps me to set my moods, it's especially useful if I'd do some jobs / projects.
It depends on mood actually. sometimes i like listening to music only but at times i like both. but most of the time, i pay more attention to the music first rather than the lyrics ^^;;
I like both, depending on my mood. While I love lyrical songs, of mostly any language, I enjoy instrumental as well, especially when I'm writing or I want to relax. Plus, there are times when I just don't want to have to focus on the words and I want the music. So, I suppose both are good for me.

There is a time for both, but I could go forever with JUST the INSTRUMENTS.
I enjoy professional, complicated instrumental stuff. Mainly guitar driven, but I recently have caught on the most awesome type of music... Orchestras. They rock in their own way. One thing an orchestra can do that a guitar cannot, would be that magnetic pull on your emotions. Hear me out, I know this sounds wimpy but have you heard Hans Zimmer's Batman Begins score, just breath taking. That's only one example.
