Metalheads unite!
Metal has always been one of my favorite types of music, it was thanks to Master of Puppets by Metallica that allowed me to enter the world of Metal and Music today. Some of my favorite bands are Slayer, Ensiferum, Wolfchant, Wintersun, Equilibruim, Kalmah, Turisas, Black Messiah, Childrern of bodom, Impaled Nazarene, Manowar and Iron Maiden are but a few of the many bands i listen too. ^^

All Shall Perish rocks. Dir en grey is amazing. Slipknot is awesome. Lamb of God is cool as well. I like a lot of other bands, but there are too many to count. For anyone who hasn't heard of this new genre, check out Deathcore. It takes the warm and melodic arpegios of Metalcore and mixes it with crushing death metal riffs. With the two combined, you've got yourself some music that is as tight as Murdoc Nickels' pants (Gorillaz reference. Yes, I do like more than just metal).

Next time you want to troll Metal, try adding Linkin Park (works every time) or even AFI and 30 Seconds to Mars.
I'm a metal head... mostly listen to prog metal. Emperor, Gojira, Meshuggah, Strapping Young Lad, Opeth, Between the Buried and Me, blah blah)
I do listen Metal l,,l, Helloween, Pantera, Gamma Ray, Megadeth, Astral Doors, Evil Dream, Avantasia, Blind Guardian, In Extremo, Corvus Corax, Tanzwut, etc, etc.
I like more the Power metal, Folk Metal, Viking and Heavy.

I have a bit of a variation when it comes to metal. There's the usual Thrash/Speed Metal (Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera) I'm also into Progressive Metal (Symphony X, some Pink Floyd, older Iced Earth) As well as Metalcore (Shadows Fall, Five Finger Death Punch, All That Remains) I have a few others, but can't be bothered to list them at the moment.

Everyone knows the best kind of metal is Progressive Metal! Gimme Dream Theater, Opeth, Devin Townsend, Ayreon or Pain of Salvation any day! Dream Theater is quite easily my favourite band and has been for years now.
Progressive metal all the way! Dream theater especially, although Rush are somehow considered prog metal as well... hmm. On that note, would anyone consider tool metal?
Pretty much anything metal (or with the suffix -core) will do me. Metallica, megadeth, and whatnot from speed/thrash metal side, to some rap metal (saw rage against the machine at t in the park - best gig ever). And forgive me for saying this... but if theres nu metal on, I'll listen to that...

I assume all you Progressive guys are leaving out Evergrey just to piss me off. Too bad Ayreon was already mentioned...
Tool are just a band. They're said to be Progressive and said to be Metal, but I think they just are. I won't accept them.

Ohh this thread has actually survived a bit I'm quite shocked but nice to see at least a few fellow metalheads are here =)
I recently starting listing more to Heavy metal (Black Sabbath, guns and roses etc) and mostly still listen to power metal. Surprised I haven't seen anyone else mention Savatage.
Also nice to see so many Progressive metalheads Evergrey, Ayreon and Dream Theater are bands that I listen to on a regular basis. But mostly my music is on random with a good 10.000+ songs of all sorts of heavy, progressive, power and other metal.

Not the uber-mega fan of it anymore.. but I can be counted as metalhead i guess..
my favourite is progressive metal (Dream Theater,Pos those are my fav. bands) I like power and symphonic metal too (cob,nightwish etc) I also had a band for 4 years on progressive metal,have a few song belong to us ^^

I like Katatonia & Opeth as well as many other bands. I really enjoy music with harsh vocals & a melodic sound and those bands really capture it in a few of their albums.
Melodic death and black metal is what I like. With melodic death I mean Opeth, Dark Tranquility, At the Gates (if you count that as melodic death..), In Flames ( The newer albums suck, with In Flames I mean their glorious days aka Whoracle and Jester Race), In Mourning (great debut album), Island among others. The most prominent melodic black metal band that I like most is Sigh. Their new album is great!

Nice. I like metal too... well, in particularly, i listen everything, from pagan/folk to thrash and so on. Well, favourite band is finntroll. Last summer was obsessed with megadeth, youthanasia.. Well, now, i have the original album, my friend brought me :D lately, everythng started from metallica, ofcourse.. Lars, James and Kirk were my favourite. Mustaine is a good guitarist, i like his songs, and manner of playing, but i don't like him as a person. So, that's all. For now.. well, don't like black.. maybe thrash black, (actually one song, ajattara... dont remember which song.)
I listen to Slipknot, Iron Maiden and Linkin Park(they are not into metal though).
