Case of Plagiarism of wallpapers from AP and AS
1 Page: [ 1 ]
Dear administrators and users,
I am writing to report a case of plagiarism. Many wallpapers from this website, created by lots of different authors, have been copied and posted, without any previous authorization, at http://konachan.com.
The same situation has happened at our website (animespirit.net). However, as we tried to alert them of the lack of consideration, our messages were ignored (or worse – one of us got a response with no politeness at all) and our accounts, banned. As their banning system provides an automatic block for the IP the banned account came from, we were not allowed to create new ones, neither to get the wallpapers deleted.
In concern, we would like to ask for your help as well. The total disrespect they showed is absurd – none of the authors who had wallpapers copied got any note or request.
Please, help us get the notoriety and credibility the wallpapers authors deserve.
Yours faithfully,
Naru-chan, General Administrator.

Unfortunately, while we at AP respect the effort wallers put in to create wallpapers, many other websites do not, and will do exactly as you've experienced. It's a risk you have to accept with when you put your wallpapers online.
Yes, but NOT copy the galery of sooo many wallpaper from Anime Paper...

We cannot police the internet. Expecting us to do so is ridiculous.
This is matter of free copyright...in my work i can sue people who use my own work as theirs, cause it's legally has been signed in paper.
But if this about some wallpaper we can't do nothing, after we upload our work online we must take all consequences and that also including the plagiarism thing you mentioned, cause basically other user here in ap (as i know) that download the wallpaper didn't pay anything
The site you mentioned i supposed is one of many other sites that upload some wallpaper without notification the artist first
Perhaps to prevent that matter every artist here put animepaper.net text in the wallpaper, so even if people download that wall from other site they still know its original source, but that's just weak solution.
Other extreme solution never upload anything except via email...but if we do that how can people see our work?

Websites, which covering theyself with "the free download of everything for everybody" (usually even without any registration), but they know that in this way they will never get any good artist in. Approving, credit system, rules are needed to create a site as AP and MT is, so in that way they can just serve our art. Practically all of mine or of my AP friends wallpapers are there, and they are quite fast - my last one was uploaded in a few hours from uploading here on AP.
Anyways there is nothing what we can do, I don't like it as well, but as long they don't detext or trying to act as the creator, I leave it just so.

I speak as an end-user. I wish to get wallpapers that I like. So I either use konachan or danbooru or whatever for free, or use animepaper, and randomly post three-liners on the forum for an uneducated opinion. So happy and easy way to wallpapers against drooling on the keyboard.
Now, when I think about the creator's part, when your wallpapers come from AP, you get appreciation from a handful of users, whilst when coming from one of the above websites, you get nothing (generally). Going to materials, nothing against nothing.

As long as they do not remove my signature, than I'm perfectly fine with my wallpapers being shared on sharing sites. Wallpapers are meant to be shared. I see no issues with this, unless they blatantly come out and say that they made it. But that's what you have to come to expect when posting your work on the internet.
I'm fine with my walls being posted on other sites as long as they keep the signature
i'd appreciate permission but it's not like everyone does it
but once they cut the signature it's a different matter

To sum it all up, in the end the real artist is discovered, and all the thief has done is promote their art for them. promotion isn't generally bad.
