Will anime ever be extinct?
Honestly, I'm pretty bugged by this idea. Do you think there is a day
where no one can think up anything original, and every way, twist and
addendum has been done in order to make more anime plot?
It's pretty much quite possible to be done. Maybe not another few years
from now, it might be decades. Where we, human being, has no more
fiction left to thread.
Though I would really want to say that anime will never last... Is that
really so? Well, I do hope it would anyways. What do you think about
this?
N.B. Mods, I have no idea whether there has been a thread about
this, if there is, please kindly lock this discussion. Thank you.

I dont really think that anime will end any time soon. although i agree that as more and more anime are made that there will be reoccuring themes.
I really doubt that humans will eventually run out of ideas for fiction. I have thought about this before but then I will discover something new that I had never even thought about before and prove to myself that there really is endless amount of ideas out there. Of course there will be a lot of repeats of ideas, for instance in animes and mangas, there are tons of giant robot stories and monsters trying to destroy some major city in Japan. Just because people are influence by one another doesn't mean their perspective isn't unique in itself.
I highly doubt that anime will ever die off, maybe evolve into something else just like how anime’s roots are based from some American style animation. The last step for anime was going from hand drawn to computer animation, so who knows what else may happen in the future.

For now i think its safe to say that it wont extinct ;D
imho, as long as there are still people who are supporting and/or demanding for anime, anime will never ever die out!

For me
Full Metal Alchemist and GunGrave

Well, I didn't really say that it will extinct soon, but what I mean is,
is it really possible for every story bits and pieces to have been done,
and there's nothing else that people can think of. Of course, like the
science major back in eighties, microbiology doesn't even exist.
Fiction may evolve more (hopefully about fantasies instead of
science-fiction) due to the increasing technologies...
But yes, I do not see any extinction to anime soon.
Maybe another light year... Or rather, when the world ends...

Dun think so, i think it can be said as impossible, because if you see...there are so many uncountable fans around the worlds, besides whats the point of quit making anime? they are awesomeeeeeeeeeee
Anime will never become extinct - for several reasons. First of all, as it has been stated before, there are basically an infinite number of ideas for new anime, and there will always be anime series that will bring something new. Second, there are too many fans out there for the producers to simply give up, and if such a thing will ever happen (I doubt it though), then the fans will make their own anime, and that will be that. And finally - let's face it, anime is a serious industry with millions and millions of dollars spinning - who would be willing to give up a source of income such as that? So I don't think such a thing will ever, ever happen.

No way, anime may evolve with changes in social trends, but will never die out. Just like any other form of media, films, music, as long as people have the drive to express their creativity.
I can see anime going extinct as it gets replaced by something more entertaining, however I do believe it will never truly go away as collecters will continue to stock up on it. Its kind of like pieces of art, some people will believe it is the dumbest waste of money and time in the universe (thats what I think of Abstract art at least) but people will continue to collect it, therefore never truly going extict through lack of interest.
About the lack of ideas problem, I don't believe it will happen anytime soon. Improving technology gives us new ways to entertain people and anime will transcend its currant televised state into other things, like interactive television or Holodeck novels (like on star trek!). Even if we run out of original storylines, all we have to do is combine lots of different storylines, like that Korean drama that not only has 1 tragedy of a horrible accident, murder, cancer or sacrifice, in fact, they combined it all into 1 movie. Thats right, if we run out of single storylines we'll simply combine the mahou shojo, with the shonen, shojo, robot, cyborg, futuristic, samurai, parady, theatre, sports anime and ecchi all into one 1420 episode series.

It depends... Now I don't think so... It's very popular and almost all over the world love anime! Many people start to do some own anime, manga or whatsoever... And the japanese are more loved by people from all over the world... so it's a pretty little chance it'll be exctinct... But however, we people are good at develop new stuff... so maybe in the future there'll be something more fun and good than anime (but I personally don't think it's gonna! =P) and then everyone'll forget about anime and start to like the other new thing... so you don't really know... But know... Not a chance anime are gonna to be extinct! =P
Anime will out live the human race....
The way that i look at it is... as we reach new heights of what we are able to do and what we are able to build there will always be a person with an incredible fantasy that will be shared by people. There is usually always something that will seem impossible to people and to this extent there is fiction for people to create stories to go with anime and mangas. So i don't think (hope) there won't be an end to anime.
BUT IF there should be an end to anime or manga I hope they make it a time in which I am not around to see it.
