Don't you feel like anime series are not that good anymore?

The last series that I saw completely because I thought that it was worth watching was monster. And since that series I haven't watch a series completely. I do not know if it is me that doesn't find anime entertaining anymore or if anime series are not that entertaining anymore like they use to. I want to know if somebody else feels the same.

I don't like the new ones so much
I can't even watch it to the end
the old ones where way much better
like Dragon Ball series (80s) or Sailor Moon
the new ones are not haveing "it" any more . . .

Really I think the decline of recent anime is due to the fan-service they drown the stories in. I mean the thing that made the 'Great' Anime's well great was they had a storyline that didn't need to be pumped up with boobs every ten seconds.

Have to agree with blasphemer, old dragon ball was V good, but the newer stuff from japan isnt that bad. Im buzy with "Bleach" which I think is a VERY good series.
Would like something like Evangelion again, that was the best!

I dont agree with this I mean I havent watched many new animes and dont have an example but alyl I can sa is the series you like because they are older were once new so sometime there has to be a new anime that is going to be just that good

Well to some degree...you cant escape bad fan service in almost any of the anime's now'er days...well there are some anime's without those things...but the plots are begening to get bad in the recently anime's...ergo proxy seemed good first, but it annoyed the crap out of me fast with all that emo stuff with vincent going around with a robot -.-
You just have to find the right anime. It's not like theres only 10-15 anime series out there. Some of the best anime out there are ones that came out in the past 3-5 years (Monster, Alchemist, Stand Alone Complex).
Personally i like the new stuff i like the comedy series so it's different than monster but lots of good comedy ones out imo, Welcome to NHK, School Rumble, Zero no Tsukaba (or w/e), and lost more. it might depend on tastes and that type isn't as strong as it used to be. plus the longer you watch anime (or anything) the more similar it all becomes, since there can only be so much diversity in a story (although it's still alot of possibilities, so once and a while you're surprised with a good original series, i'm not knowledgeable enough to mention one)

Well,... at least for movies, IMO, it has already started, especially in terms of Hong Kong Martial Arts. Yes,... almost all those latest Martial Arts-crap has no original story anymore at first,... secondly almost all the moves and fancy choreography has alreadey been seen hundred times already...
Well, there are certainly many Animes which follow a similar storyline of a previous Anime which had the original concept of storyline and in terms of Action... so yes,... maybe after a while almost every story might be the same over and over again. It will be a matter of "HOW" this story is being told, and how it would speak for itself in terms of Action-scenes.
The only originals I still watch are One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Aoki Densetsu Shoot and Ah my Goddess and I am watching Rurouni Kenshin yet again,...
Nowadays it is veeeery hard to invent a new Genre and thus ... an original storyline and convert it good with spectacular Action...

Really?, you really think so?
Actually I think the newer animes are much better than the previous ones.
First of all most of them have better story lines like Full Metal Alchemist, FMP 2nd raid, Honey & Clover Season I & II, Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, heck overall the newer ones have better story lines than there 90s, 80s counterparts. Better animation too but thats a given. Music? I like the newer ones but this one is strickly a matter of taste.
In other words Anime is growing up.
Gone are the days when every episode had a new monster to kill (well mostly gone) but didnt really advanced the story line at all or those battles that lasted 10 episodes when they couldve been much shorter if only there were more fighting than talking ...and flashbacks...amontg others...
About the originality part...well you cant help that since they need..."Inspiration", but its how they do it that counts. Still originality in anime aint dead yet with shows like Welcome to NHK, Elfen Lied, FLCL, Higurashi no naku koro ni, XXX Holic etc...if there is anymore that is.
But still its hard to beat Classics like Evangelion and Cowboy Bebop there just in a league of there own.
Ya know, i do feel that way. there are a lot of new animes that are coming out now, and not that many that seem really cool. I just recently saw Hellsing and was like blown away by the amazing graphics and characters... a lot of the new anime just doesn't have the same punch.
Well, I can't agree with the decline of recent anime. There are so many of them! The history of anime has both bad ones and good ones. There are a lot of both of them. But the elder ones have got many comments and rates, so the good ones are become popular and bad ones are tempted to be forgotten. And the new ones are just npt filtered so you don't know which of them are really good and bad. They need some time to be appreciateв or dismissed.
It depends and the manga series and creator of the anime series.
Yeah, I think so too. Most anime these days just run a season or two, and then are forgotten. Unless, it's made by a really popular company/writer. I only watch the classic and most popular anime these days..

I thought Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu was exceptionally amazing and it exists to be my favorite anime of all time. Also, it may seem as if the animes of today are getting boring because we tend to look at the greatest anime there were out of a huge pool of other animes that we may have forgotten, and if were to transport back in time, we would feel the same way about that era's anime. Ne?
