Vocaloid - Kei's Miku Fig wall.
Textless Wide

With Text Widescreen

1600x1200 Textless

anyone who has seen the original Miku wall for this one will know why I call it a copycat attempt, by no means ripped, entirely original.
This is first attempt and what I call a "Full 3D wall for 2D character"
well... nearly anyway, except for the 3D PV you can see on youtube. (search, Vocaloid 3DPV, Melody.exe, Anger PV Edit)
I think if you have already seen the original wallpaper of this one, you will know what I mean when I say this is a copycat attempt gone on steroids.
I wanted to amplify everything from the original, not that it was a rip, it is original, I took what is in fact, a VOLKS figurine (available on eBay) picture of Miku, used packs of renders from Greeble, Akhtar and others to make it look like what you see here.
It is in fact, what I call, whole 2D walling into 3D... if that make sense.
I think the original is much better, simply because it is clean, uncluttered, this one I made has a more messy element.
I will say I am paying tribute, this wall also took much inspiration from "Guitar Starship" concept.
You will realize part of the render is at her back is blurred, to show the white heat emerging from the platform opening.
As if she is stepping from a flying platform of the vertical looking ship, a blasting atmosphere as she shows herself.
Anyway, nuff bullshit, this is my attempt to show love to Vocaloid2, I am just obsessed, if you so desire, head down to my page to see what is perhaps the sickest short story you will ever read.

This, sir.. it really cool. >_< The background rox my sox! I don't know what else to say except that I'd fav it if you'd have been able to put it in the gallery. >xD

I wanted to make a signature with a figure once, but it ended up being crap and I thought that it would be a good idea for a wall. What I never guessed was that it could look so damn good.
+fav
...wait, where's the Fav button?
Crap.
We need a category for this >_>

This wall is total goodness. There are jagged lines but that doesn't bother me one bit because this wall is overall epic! I also wouldnt hesitate in faving this... if i could. XD
Nice work man!
Nice work man!
Dang!.That wallpaper is awesome..The background is totally cool and made very artistic..The character blends in pretty well with the background. The only complain i have is that the 3D effect at the sides of her hands (the circle things) dont look very smooth..So you can just say that the smoothness is the problem.Other than that i dont find a problem so i would have faved it.
FAVE+
Keep your good work going Omni.Hoping to see more 3D wallies from u..How about a GITS one..Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee..

Cute. But I feel that there's some problem with the blending between the character and the background. It also feels quite "detached". Around the feet, it doesn't give the illusion that she's standing on the objects at all.
The blocky objects at the back seems to look as if it was enlarged. It's kinda blurry and has anti-aliasing problems around which gave me that impression. As for the surface at the below, I assume it was done via threshold level adjustments. I do use it sometimes for creating grunge backgrounds and subtle organic patterns but rarely use it to create a solid objectsince they tend to give the jaggies. If I do, I'll always have to follow up with the pen tool to smooth out the jaggies. It contrasts quite starkly against the smooth 3D'ish design at the further back ( Which is quite cool though. I see it quite often among wallpapers utilizing 3D render progs.)

The background is awesome as expected but the main scan/figurine/whatever doesn't seem to blend well with it. Or is it suppose to be that way?

You were working from this? That's good work matching the color and style of the figure to the background. :3 Also, nifty background.
But I do agree with what θDias pointed out about the "detached"-ness around the legs, they don't appear to be standing on the block underneath her. The blocks are angled and don't provide the flat surface that her legs & feet imply. The right foot (her left) is particularly glaring -- if you take the surface under the left foot as "ground level", then the block underneath the right foot is angled much sharper and protudes, making it seem 1.5 heads above the ground level established earlier. To a viewer's eye/mind, this height difference cannot be reconciled, so the result is that she does not appear as if she is standing on the background at all.

I got here late so everything was said... She looks awesome though and my brother has a fascination with this character as well...
Nice concept, very cute and striking at the same time. Also great job on matching the colors. XD
This wall tends to look much darker at my office monitor... but looks just fine on my home monitor. I suggest upping the mid-point level (brightness) a bit to Miku to make her having less contrast and less saturation (notice the screaming color saturation on her armpit). Would be safer for lower-gamma monitors, and that way she would also look more natural.
The 3D effects are very good, and techy. But the only irk about it is that some of the lines look too much aliased it's distracting. But I have no idea how to fix it since I very rarely use 3D rendering softwares ^_^'
Oh, and to trick people's vision into not noticing the 'detached'ness, you can try adding 'light rays' originating from her back, very subtly and low opacity.. because her background elements emit very strong lights and IMO adding shadows beneath her would be a bit odd because of the disorientating angles pointed out by hamstersanonymous.

It looks fantastic! I almost wish more people would make walls from figure photos. I like to collect figures, but they can get pricey and take up a lot of room. A nice way to be able to look at them alternatively is to have really nice photos of them; putting them into a great wallpaper is even cooler!
I want a KAITO figure. D:
Well anyway, this wall is epic. :D

Wow...this wall is great...XD
i really like the 3D effects of the bg, they are really nice and creative.
anyway, in my opinion, the character seems can't blend in with the bg.
maybe it is because of the colour or something.
like what the others said...i also noticed that the character is a lil "detach" as if it is not standing on the object.
maybe it is only me...i'm not good at judging 3D stuff...:D
keep up on it...XD
