Good day!
May I aks what is your budget, do you play a lot of games or do you work with photoshops, encoding ect...
Dell XPS M1330/M1530 has a modern look and it has good components such as LED screenbacklight. Lenovo Thinkpad's are very solid and durable, use the best quality components (R61 or T61 is good one).
You can find a lot information of notebooks on notebookreview.com

Hello there. I've one middle class suggestion for you: Sony Vaio VGN-FZ21M. http://vaio.sony.co.uk/view/ShowProduct.action?product=VGN-FZ21M&site=voe_en_GB_cons&category=VN+FZ+Series
I've got one Sony Vaio VGN-AR41L. I found out few days later that this one was released. I saw some people using it and its performance is awesome.
Sayonara.

Just make sure it has a Geforce 8 GPU in there .. and try to avoid any dual video card configurations (SLI) ... it simply doesn't work well on the laptop front. I own the Alienware m9750 and, although I like it a lot, they're pricey as hell unless your into serious gaming with a serious budget.
Dell has a few nice notebooks. The Mac books are also interesting now that your free to install any OS on them. We have a lot of HPs and Lenovos in the office where I work. They are functional but I find them flimsy and lacking in performance.
Key things to look for would be:
1) Has a core 2 duo processor with an 800 MHz FSB (667 FSB is discontinued).
2) Has a nice video card (GeForce 8600 min for some sort of gaming)
If your serious about gaming try to catch an Geforce 8800, but you may not find any on the market yet. Avoid Intel extreme graphics like the plague; it has little to no hardware acceleration for movie playback (poor or no MPEG H264 decoding) and forget about gaming.
After that make sure the screen resolution is good enough for you and that you have sufficient RAM for your uses (like 2 Gigs should be standard).

Just something to keep in mind dell only offers windows vista with their pcs so if your fine with a broken os on your new laptop then get a dell but if you want to use your laptop to its fullest go with alien ware they offer vista or xp or if you don't like windows then get a mac (they suck little software) but personally i stay away from dell they haven't impressed me at all in the past. Yes alien ware is rather expensive but you can at least get what you want from on your machine instead of having to settle for what the company wants you to have.
Well i have a gateway its a bit slow but it has all i need like photoshop and windows movie maker it only cost me $500 wich i liked because my budget wasnt that big and it allows me to do everything i want to do

For anyone thats confused right now: DELL == ALIENWARE
Alienware's main advantage is style. Both companies are offering some nice laptops at the moment and both will release GeForce 8800 laptops in the near future. Right now though, Dells M1730 beats Alienware's m9750 in raw power. Both also allow you to customize your rigs to your liking. Both have lackluster upgradability. I have access to both forums (I own a laptop of both companies) and I can assure you they are both the same (or in the same league).
And to make things clear, you'll all be stuck with vista in the near future anyway. Like Windows XP .. windows sucks until the first service pack. It's the same old story, nothing new here folks.
If you really hate vista, buy the boxed (aka NON-OEM) version of Windows XP so you can install it on any machine and transfer your license from that machine to a newer one in the future. (The OEM can only be installed on one piece of hardware and it's binded to it. So if that machine fails or you upgrade it, you won't be able to re-install windows!) This way you can have XP on your laptop today, and just install the VISTA that shipped with it should you need vista for a future game or piece of hardware. You'll still be able to use your non-oem XP on a desktop if you need it.

I'd go with an Alienware myself, it even gives you an option to have XP preloaded if you don't want vista. So far the only laptop from Dell for a gaming laptop that will let you have XP pre-install is the XPS M1710 for the Mobile & Mighty (which is the low end of the XPS, all the other laptops on Dell I can find will only let you get Vista preloaded-loaded so if you DO want to go with XP you'll have to cough up some extra dough to buy an OEM or Retail version of it yourself.
