Rurouni Kenshin

Maxi-Ryu99Is that Villain really Evil because he is Evil,... or is it rather the belief makes this villain evil?? Is there any right or wrong in either Kenshin's principles or in Shishio's principles?
I think the villain is evil because he was influenced by the evil belief, rather than being evil himself...because i believe that everyone is born good...but being in the harsh world and being influenced by others...well...look at the suicide bombers...they all did it because they believed in what they were doing, not because they wanted to do it all along...
There might be no wrong in either Kenshin's principles or Shishio's principles, but they have to think whether their principles are really as correct as they think...it all depends on your point of view...so there's no definite answer for that question...
I love this anime so much, it's one of my top 5 hottest anime.
I like the battle scenes, the techiniques..... Hitten Mitsurugi style!
Oro! I really like it! It's really funny
This anime shows the culture of Japan and I'm proud of this anime
I know Saito Hajime is really true, I hope Kenshin is also true!
This is also the first anime that makes me cry so much! http://static1.animepaper.net/images/emo/nanana.gif

Kenshin is great, it is my favorite anime series. I have not read much of the books, but I have seen the show. The first season was good, the second season was amazing, and the third was not as good in my opinion. Kenshin was actually based on a real person, as well as Saito and Aoshi. I think that is pretty cool.
Rurouni Kenshin its wonderful, but the manga's better than anime.. but the anime its.. marvelous

Well... Not all of them was real person. Just some of them was roughly base by some real characters. Examples:
Himura Kenshin = Kawakami Gensai (one of the Four Hitokiri of the Bakumatsu)
Sagara Sanosuke = Harada Sanosuke (10th Unit Captain of Shinsengumi)
Shiomori Aoshi = Hijikata Toshizō (one of Shinsengumi Captain)
Saitoh Hajime (Fujita Gorou) = Saitoh Hajime (Fujita Gorou)
Shishio Makoto =Serizawa Kamo (Lead Comander of Shinsengumi)
Like Hiko Seijyurou isn't real character based (If there was a person like that, Miyamoto Musashi would be just a kid playing with two sticks).

Quite Frankly, they should have ended the series after the Shisho fight! Now dont get me wrong, I LOVED Kenshin. The first 50~ episodes were delight on reels. My heart was pounding the whole time all the way up until the end of that fight. Then, the series plunged downhill like a nuclear bomb! The bits about that one gang (all I can remember is that one could fly) and the geomancers... *shudder*
Sorry If Im a bit negative here, but I really did enjoy the anime and HATED how bad they butchered the ending. I hope the manga took a different course.
However, all the OVAs that ive seen were all excellent too. Very touching and artistic.

Wow, I can't even remember how long ago it was that I first watched this anime. That said, while I certainly enjoyed seeing Kenshin and the other characters brought to life, the manga was probably better than the anime. Of course, I really liked seeing all the action scenes animated ^^, especially all Kenshin's cool Hiten Mitsurugi moves. It's nice that we get a happy ending in the manga though (the author did it for the fans' sakes, but also told them what the ending he had planned out would be).

This was the first anime I ever bought the whole series for. It brings back so many memories.
The anime was so great, although there were so many differences between the first, second, and third seasons.
The first season was a great introduction to the anime, with an involving story and great action. However, it was too bad that the line art was often not so consistent, resulting in the characters randomly looking like they were drawn with the non-dominant hand.
The second season had improved artwork, action, and special effects with strongly consistent line art and the best story arc animated in the series. It is by far, my most favorite story arc of any anime. It was so engaging and detailed that I can simply watch the second season over and over without being bored.
The third season was the worst in terms of story, but the animation was at it's height for the TV series. I had wished the Enishi arc had been placed here instead, but I suppose the company had it's reasons for creating their own story, although it seemed to bring a decline in terms of appreciation of the series.
It would have been sweet to see the manga ending though.
This was one of my first real exposures to anime and it's still a classic in my mind. I ended up buying the entire manga series as well as develop a liking for English dubbing. Unfortunately, that like has been greatly toned down by the butchering of the US licensed series via censorship of poorly cast voice actors.
Rurouni Kenshin remains, on the whole, one of my favorite well-rounded series.

Ohhhh. I remembered now.
Man, I missed that show some hot action, comedy, and drama too. And also "Oro?" when Kenshin always saying that. My favorite character would be Hajime Saitou. He always taking cigars and his fighting style really rocks. He's the only perfect rival for Hitokiri Battousai.

Rurouni Kenshin was a classic anime...especially the Kyoto Arc. The anime kind of ruined it with the third arc (I think it was called..romance of the meiji era?...lol). But back onto the Kyoto Arc it was amazing when I watched it for the first time...especially the fight leading to the Kyoto Arc with Kenshin vs Saito. Then there were classic one on one fights in the Shishio's base: Sanosuke vs Anji, Saito vs Usui and to be honest, although I liked the fights with Soujiro and Shihio, the best fight Kenshin fought with in my opinion was Aoshi. The others seemed to drag on for a bit. If the Revenge Arc was animated I wonder how good that would have been. Obviously the OVA Reflection did it no justice...basically the whole storyline was taken out and all we saw was a short Enishi fight sequence...read the manga for the real ending...then watch the OVA if you have spare time...lol

I just started watching it like nowish and i have to say its pretty awesome! i dont wanna have high exptecations but the first 4 eps really make its sooo good!! cant wait to watch more!! ^^
Yeah, Rurouni Kenshin is a classic! But I really prefer the manga than the anime. The history in the manga is really cool, is more direct and have a lot of things that in the anime was ommited. In the manga theres no German and Shogo Amakuza saga, in the manga, after the fight with Shishio the story go directly to Kenichi saga, this saga is really cool and have a lot of fights and cool stuff than in the hole anime version.
However, I really like the OVAs, the first four OVAs are really a master piece!! And are so much cool than the version of the manga, but in the manga are more explanation of it. The final OVA Seisouhen is really sad, is the only time I almost cry in the end.
I really like the character of Tomoe, I know a lot of people that hate her, but I see her as a tragic heroine that sacrifice her life for the sake of Kenshin.

Kenshin will always be one of my all time favourite anime. And when i say Kenshin, I mean the first two arcs, the first four ovas and the manga. In my world the third arc with the Christians just doesn't exist because its soo bad and the last ova, Reflection, just doesn't do Enishi justice. I think I must have watched the entire series at least 5 times, and the read the entire manga about 3 times. I never get tired of it. Every time I watch/read it, I get obsessed with it all over again!
10 years from now, when Kenshin is 25 years old and computer animation has taken over, this anime will still be amazing.
Maybe I'll go watch some now...
