Ahhh.... Death note. loved it. very different from the anime/manga i'v seen. very exciting!! the japanese made it into live action films, and i only seen the first part tho... love to get my hands on the 2nd part

I got a question about the Death Note...
If the person you wanted to kill had a twin and you know his/her name but have only seen their twin's face and not actually them, could you kill them cause they have the same face but techniquelly you've never seen their face.

Eyes are like fingerprints. not even twins have exactly the same.. i think it was said that you have to see the eyes and a part of the face. i could be wrong tho..
to the topic. i realy like death note untill... the end of the first season. character design was realy good especially of the main characters. they both pretty much been anti heroes. from the behavior you could think L was the bad guy and light (realy fitting name;P) the good guy but its actually the other was around.
and yeah i do think Light was a bad person. even tho his motives were noble beeing provoked and unable to keep his cool and on top of that killing innocent people.. he realy was a bad.. well the death note turned him into an evil demon.

I was reading the manga for like 2 weeks and I almost got to the end, I needed like 4-5 more Vol to read and I was done. But I skiped to teh end and found out what happened to everyone and for some reason I have no plan on reading the parts that I missed. Ending was not even that great. It should be better like the rest of the story was so good I could not stop reading but after reading the end the Manga just is not that good. Thats what I think about it. Other then that it is pretty good.

I agree with yoho2007, I think that if L was the main character people would kind of hate Raito.

Personally i found it extremely smart and original. At least until L died (not that i thought it was bad after that) the cat - mouse game between them was very intense and definitely not comparable with anything else i have seen....
This is an excellent anime, i'ts very interesting and the characters are so amazing, specially L. This gonna be a legend!

the battle between Kira and L really something that is amazing, because they're fighting with their logic and strategy, not by force. it's almost like detective stories than whatever the genre is

Have to tell that it is one of the best story in the anime/manga world.
I like both L and Light.
Well, maybe Light is a bad guy but not really bad at all. He has good ambition but made it wrong way.
For L, he also has another way of vision and try to defend his justice his ways. I like L very much as he has a unique character.

Death Note is the first anime series that I watched. I had only seen Miyazaki's before I stumbled upon DN. I loved the plot and the characterizations (Ryuk's love for apples, L's sugar and caffeine mania, Matsuda's shy cuteness, Light's gradually growing hubris and hamartia...) but I didn't like the ending. I can't think of a better ending but I don't like this one either.
All in all, Death Note was a great start for me.

SPOILER (click to view)L was amazingly lovable. I loved his eccentric personality, it made me laugh in such a serious series. The whole anime kept you waiting and it made you want to watch the next episode, see what's going to happen next, like any well-written mystery.

The animation is gorgeous. And they took an anime with pretty much no action in it at all and made it interesting.
The battle of wits between Light and L. is amazing. And the idea of the Death Note is interesting.
I love the characters - L. is so quirky, just like a genious. His love of sweets and the way he holds phones... Absolutely wonderful.
I love the way Light changes his voice. His inner voice is dark, serious, and somewhat creepy. When he talks to family and friends, the pitch of his voice gets higher and seems more cheerful. Pretty great.
And the colors - Light is red and L. is blue... seems like good / bad but in odd hell / heaven colors, it was an interesting anime, but the and + M afterwards was too much.

Death Note definitely was one of the more thought provoking anime titles. I haven't read the manga, so I don't know how that is. I also like the "chess game" metaphor and I agree that the second half goes somewhat downhill from the first half. The ending was somewhat disappointing to me, I guess I just expected something better when the rest of the anime had such great planning.
