Fullmetal Alchemist

Well, to me Fullmetal Alchemist was one of the best anime shows around. I watched things like Sailor Moon and etc. when I was a kid and then Trigun and all that when adult swim started, but I have to say FMA is what got me REALLY hooked on anime. I've read many mangas and watched a lot of animes since, but I still think FMA is the best and I learned more useful things from it than anything else. It has helped a lot in science, especially. ;)
It also gets you thinking a lot about things, especially where equivalent exchange/death/homunculi/chimeras and all that are involved.
Overall, I think it's one of the best series ever.

I've seen the series, and never seen an answer, better then this short explanation of the series;
Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth. But the world isn't perfect, and the law is incomplete. Equivalent Exchange does not encompass everything that goes on here, but I still chose to believe in its principle: that all things do come at a price, that there's an end and a way, that the pain we work through did have a reward, and that anyone who's determined and perseveres will get something of value in return, even if it's not what they're expecting. I don't think of Equivalent Exchange as a law of the world any more. I think of it as a promise between my brother and me. A promise that someday we'll see each other again."
Wile Alphonse reads this montage images of different people throught the series are shown. These include Tucker, still trying to bring back Nina; the Ishbalans, rebuilding; Mustang and Hawkeye, shopping at a market; Wrath, lying on the ground under a tree; Gracia and Elysia Hughes, with Sheska, laying flowers at Hughes's grave; Pinako, with Rosé and her baby, at their house; Russell and Fletcher Tringum, working in a lab; Winry, working with Dominick and Paninya in Rush Valley; and finally Armstrong and Breda, entertaining a group of soldiers that includes Fuery, Falman, and Havoc.
I think that it is cool, and I believe in it. When Dante uses the example of the state alchemy test, and states talks about the people who stdied for months and years, but didn't get to become state alchemist, she mustn't realize that those people did get get something of value in turn: they knew more about alchemy. The world is a constant cycle: everyone has problems in life, may it ne hunger, money, or even loneliness. Life has problems, it's our jobs to go through them. We will make mistakes, but we WILL eventually learn from them, because we can't do everything right: the world itself is imperfect, it's axis is tilted. This is why I believe in Eqiuvalent Exchange, no matter what happens we still get something of value. THAT IS THE TRUTH BEYOND ALL TRUTHS, THE LAW OF NATURE!
Haven't even reconsidered re-watching it, because it was interesting, but then again very stock up on a single quota, which was really not interesting.

Full Metal Alchemist was one of the first animes I watched. And it really pulled me into anime along with all the other major ones around. I really like plot and the character design too. The anime was enjoyable and incredibly sad at times too! I own a couple volumes of the FMA manga and I wish the anime hadn't ended and maybe gone along with the manga instead (so it would still be going) But unlike alot of other animes that don't follow the manga, it was still really good!
And it's always fun to see Ed's reaction when anything such as little or short is mentioned close to him >___~

FMA was overall a very good anime. It had well developed characters and a rock solid, consistent and well thought out plot. I don't see any reason for seriously disliking it, except if you're one of those people who hates generally everything that gets hyped/popluar.
The only thing I personally didn't like was the humor. A lot of it was untimely and not very funny.

FMA~!!
it brought about alot of heavy morale values, which for me, are kinda not quite suitable for young viewers..the existence of God, atheism, political views, and stuff like those.
anyways, for an overall view i think the anime's pretty good. i enjoyed watching it till the end, and yeah, its quite open ended, like how ken akamatsu ended the Negima anime..
you have alot of questions after that, and almost all of them are unanswered..
put the children aside, the anime is worthwhile, and the morale impact is something worth mentioning..one thing i learned from this anime is that at some points in our life, we have to learn "acceptance"..
major point~! those who have watched this anime can elaborate more on this point themselves..
FMA rocks~!

Fullmetal Alchemist is easily one of my favorite anime series.
I found the whole concept of using the idea of alchemy to be very interesting. It makes you question and compare it to the science/magic links of actual alchemy. I also found the characters and their toils caused a deep emotional impact to anyone who viewed the series. The issues felt "real", in a sense that we could all relate to them: forgiveness, overcoming obstacles, betrayal, and war. There was always a nice balance of humor and drama, as well.
It's certainly a good anime, and I can understand that it's not perfect (what is?), but it's one I would recommend any anime fan to watch.

FMA is a really good anime.
It has all that an anime needs, and it also makes you think. If you like serious animes, I recommend watching "Kino no Tabi".

FMA is easily my favorite anime. It changed me when I watched it... it's the kind of show that really makes you think about yourself, the world, and your view of it. The characters are so amazingly human and three-dimensional that it's almost like they're real.
And I know a lot of people really didn't like the ending, but I did.
