Does everyone else hate fillers?
I think fillers are what made me stop watching an anime and stick only to the manga. I cannot watch Naruto anymore because of the long stupid fillers. And Bleach is starting to have stupid fillers also. I mean the new thing that is now with the little princess is one of the worst stories so far. Bountu arc was what it was, but had something interesting to it.
Those are stand alone series. So you cannot say they have fillers. I mean both have manga, but the manga was written after the anime as an adaptation. So no episode is a way to stretch time till the manga advances. And they are 25 or so episode series, usually those that have fillers exceed 50-100 episodes. Plus no filler should contain character development, because when it ends the characters should be in the exact same shape as they were at the begging. And I love these searis also. Especially Cowboy Bebop :D
I honestly like more series like NANA which is not out anymore, because they don't want to make fillers. And the second season is going to be released only when the manga has reached an ending. Now I know that really popular anime like Naruto or Bleach, fans would rather have the fillers than not see them at all, but I for one would rather not see them for a while than waste time with them. And plus, there is also manga to read.
PoeyFor example, one could claim that shows like Samurai Champloo and even Cowboy Bebop are almost nothing but episode filler type of stuff, but it's all still at least character development. ...not to mention I freakin love both of those shows, so yeah.

I don't mind the fillers.
I just don't watch them so it's almost impossible to annoy by them.
It gives me time to check something else in the meantime, or enjoying other hobbies.

I despise fillers. I'd almost rather have the animation studio skip a few weeks than make filler eps. They're just a waste of time for the audience and the studio.

Normally I skip fillers where the episode is a completely off the story (such as the characters all have different roles and has nothing related to the plot and set in different time / enviroment) I did watch alot of the Naruto fillers but I just got fed up and bored with it that I don't watch it anymore =[
No I like fillers. Being a sentimental guy; someone who gets attached to animes and grows some sort of bond between the characters.
The longer the anime goes the happier ill be. Just get a longer journey with the characters. Fillers can get a little dull but most of them I find are good and enjoyable.

Fillers are dragged out and boring...... i hate filler episodes.... in the case of bleach the last filler was pointless and unnecessary... in the middle of a great fight... it made no sense...
I absolutely don't like fillers. They are just annoying and mostly the enemies or the new characters there are not interessting or good at all. Thats also a reason why I have stopped looking longer series like Bleach or Naruto, but I still read the manga. Enjoying the original one more.

Naruto had terrible filler. I read a review of the show once that just said watch the first chunk of episodes and go right to Shippuden. I don't really know of any shows that had good filler except the already mentioned Fruits Basket, but that wasn't really filler since the show was more about Tohru's interaction with the Sohma family then about the overall plot of breaking the curse.
Maybe.. the right question is.. why fillers are made.. yes.. it's for character development.. and if there are no anime fillers.. it will put a pressure to the mangaka to publish manga chapters sooner (which may give poor results).. fillers provide ample time for the mangakas to think and draw better for the next upcoming chapters.. most animes are based on mangas, right?

I hate the filler because there are stupid, for exemple in Naruto there are so patetic!!i never see it
Fillers are just there and we gotta live with it. As for Naruto, yes it was the longest ever filler Arc in Anime history that I have ever experienced, really really remarkably extended. And I had the guts to watch them ALL. I tell you again, the one's who are complaining about fillers are completly f*&^cked up. Is it any of your business to determine how many fillers should be made? The companies know what they are doing.. so shut your trap, damnit..
I think after every Manga Arc comes a filler Arc. That seems to be Toei Animation's new frame work considering Naruto ...

As sonolostwithin said above, id all depends on how good they are.
But i'd much rather have fillers and the rest of the story to go exactly like in the manga than having a whole different story in the anime. Take Rosario to vampire capu2. The manga is almost 100% ditched...
Sekirei anime on the other hand was pretty much hand in hand with the manga.
And just as a side note, the latest Belach filler was really boring. Story-wise, character-wise, fighting-scene-wise

Unless it's essential to explain the plot or whatever, I think they totally suck. They make the episode look like an episode of Spongebob Squarepants! (No offense to Spongebob fans, I love that show, but anime =/= cartoon)
Kind of depending how the fillers go. Most fillers are ridiculous and make no sense, so I don't like them. It's hard to find goos fillers these days, after FMA
IMO, sometimes I do like fillers and sometimes I don't. Filler episodes shouldn't be used only for the fanservice purpose. Anyway, I much prefer the if filler episodes providing good opportunities in developing characters or plots. A few fillers in anime series won't hurt so much as long as it doesn't overload and influence the storyline badly.
