I have watched this series and i think Elfen lied isn't bad but i don't know why it's so popular the story is not bad(no spoilers) and it's bloody and violent which is good but the nudity i think wasn't needed. So everyone let me ask you,

The violence.something that almost crosses the boundaries of what's acceptable on tv.they only aired this in tv tokyo's satelite channel ATX.
I didn't mind the violence hack i like it but the nudity was to me was forced in like it had to be there

Speaking of that scene that was the only scene they cut out when they aired elfen lied in the U.K. that scene was too much.
as for the "visuals" let's just say that's eye candy,fanservice.

Heh, Nice thread, anyways...
Elfen Lied was pretty much a mix of everything... LOTS of violence, romance, drama, bits of comedy and so on... The manga was also pretty popular Heheh Finished all 8 Volumes was it? and about 200 - 300 chapters in less than a week. And the story, it's symbolism and portrayal was moving and touching, in my opinion anyways...
oh lastly most people would be able to relate with the feelings of discrimination and predjudice

Don't really know a lot about the manga.all I know is that lucy's much more violent in the manga.

She's actually equally violent while Kouta was more forgiving in the anime. Well, you really can't measure the blood scale on both of 'em. Your screen wil over flow. Heheh.

that scene is the depiction of child rape.her stepfather rapes her repeteadly and her mother doesn't believe her or just ignores her.

In the anime, Mayu's mother seem to hate her and wants her gone so i don't think its a matter of believing or being ignored but rather being hated and driven out of the house.
I'm prety sure mayu was raped.poor girl.

I feel the most sadness for her than any other character in this anime since her whole family deserted her and was sexual abused. What assholes!
