Dragon Ball Kai
I know this is supposed to be a big thing for all DB fans, but I am dissapointed...it's just a remastering of the old show. I would of loved to see new drawings for the original story with toei's new artists and technology. The openings were unbelievable, a fans dream come true...I just wish they would of reworked the series and gave us a true reversioning. Anyone else with me on this?
Nah, is good for the next new born generation to watch it fresh.

But it's not fresh from the first ep so far it seems exactly like the first run. And the voices .....my god have goku's balls even dropped? How can the hero and main char of a series have such a week sounding voice, it's a horrible clash to the character.
now i know why i stuck to the dubbed versions of dragon ball.

Sometimes there's old, some others have new. Some of the voices of the characters are remastered. Except the voice of Goku. I'm watching about good old days of the Dragon Ball franchise after all.

If you watched Dragon Ball Kai how you watch the current series you wouldn't say that. And the same for Goku's voice. It's a habit, you know.
Now for this remastered version I can this: the new OST owns! The show is okay too. It's sad they didn't do a remake but oh well... we can't have all we want.

The only complaint I have about this remastering is they're going to make the entire series shorter. I'm against this because it feels like I'm not going to be getting the "director's cut" version (ie. the length of the original version).

You say that like it's a bad thing. In all my years of watching anime, never have I seen a series that dragged its feet as badly as DBZ did. The series literally told a story that should of been limited to 100 episodes and managed to almost triple that. When it gets to have an entire episode focused solely on nothing, literally nothing happens, then you've got a problem.
I watched the first episode and I have to say it's a rather welcomed change. I was really hoping that they could of used some of the more recent style of animation, but I have to admit I prefer the artwork of the first season over everything else. I really liked the intro they offered as well for the series. It helped give a rather nice recap of DB as well as some back history that wasn't offered until later on in the series.
I loved the old DB. It was a masterpiece in my opinion.
I don't know about this new one. I watched the first episode so far and it seems exactly like the old one except in widescreen and a little clearer. Makes me feel like they are dragging out something that should be over. But I guess what makes money is the choice.
Only thing I think it's good for is for the new generation to get into it. I don't think I could rewatch the whole series just because it's new colors. I might just watch a few here and there like big fights Frieza vs Goku.

I recently bought the first season and after watching the first five episodes, I can most definitely tell.
First is condensing. They really cut out a lot of meaningless stuff. The show feels much tighter and more fluent. What the first episode consisted of was basically like 1 1/2 episodes. Considering they showed us some stuff on Goku's father in the beginning as well, as well as a bit of back history on DB, I imagine it could of been up to two episodes had they not done that.
They've also got a new soundtrack as well, in additional to new opening and ending.
I honestly feel that they've taken what's great about it and made it even better. I still wish they would of done it with new animation, but if the show continues this way, I imagine they'll cut the series in half practically and that is a good thing.

I really like the new series.
so far it looks really clear, and cutting out filler is most likely a very good thing.
I know i'm gonna keep watching it.

Also the details are much cleaner and the colors are much sharper and clear. Also the lines are a lot smoother and the background is a bit more well done then the original. Also the new soundtrack keeps it up to date. If you are watching on a pc in just Standard Def. then its going to not look really any different. If your watching it on a HDTV and in HD then the show is going to look pretty impressive. Considering the beginning of the she came out in '89 the remastered version looks really good.

I loved Dragonball
but i don´t think I can watch it all over again

How would they ever be able to remake the legendary Dragonball story completely new. I think the next generation animators would really die, if they had such a tough task.
Well the opening was just created to draw attention, making us think it is a new re-made version of the Dragonball Story, but in fact, it is what we just see (I mean, I watch that show only for a week now...). I can cope with it. I wouldn't mind watching the "slim version Dragonball Z" at all. I hope they're gonna include the Goku and Piccolo driving lessons-filler which was the most enjoyable (in German language, I'm from Germany btw), but I doubt they would do it...
IMO the re-mastered Dragonball Kai is meant for the younger generations who started to get familiar with Anime and Manga Culture. Akira Toriyama's Team probably intended to show those next generation of Otakus the wonders of Dragonball Z, Son Goku, Vegeta with this latest versions...
a legendary Anime worth to remember!
