I used to live in Penang when I was a small kid (still go back during Chinese New Years).My grandma's house used to be near Gurney's Drive (a popular tourist spot that used to be a beach several years ago but is all now underwater). There's an old Chinese temple and a firestation opposite it. Every December, there would be a teowchew opera troupe that do performances there and food stalls will sprout up like mushrooms for that few days. I miss those good old days.My grandma's old house is now demolished to make way for condominiums. She now lives in an apartment (given to the residents there as compensation).
