If your an only child, just give your opinion on this. If yuo could choose, would you be the oldest child or the youngest child in your family? I would want to be the oldest because you get to choose what you want before they younger child and be the boss of the youngest because the oldest is more responsible.

No you don't. I'm the oldest of three children and am responsible for their actions. If they don't come home on time, I get yelled at. If they're not studying, I get yelled at. If they're not doing ANYTHING AT ALL, I get yelled at. When they want to go out with their friends and no one else is home, I have to stay home to guard the house, answer the phone, and be there when they come home. It's especially hard when you're smaller than both of them and can't just beat them into submission. As the eldest, you have to set an example.
In the end, you sacrifice a lot.

Hahaha.... i guess its depends on what kind of family you live in..... cuz some kids has advantages being the eldest kid... some being the youngest..... like my family, being the eldest is better ( not me though)... in my friend's case is the younger child.... so... depends on the parents ^_^
Well my family is very backwards in this sort of thing. Like trilapple I'm the one on the guard and helping run the house and watching over what happens to it. But guess what? I'm the youngest of three. Its always been that way in my house though. I'm the "golden child" of the family. I'm expected to do so much around the house too since I'm the only female in the household.
I'm pretty much my brothers mother at times. Well at least it seems that way. Is it sad for the youngest of a faimly to direct the older? And it's not like I nag at my brothers, it just seems like I have more influence and trust than they do.
*shrugs* I guess I have both the perks of being the youngest and the oldest. I have to worry about what's going on in the house but then again I know I'm spoiled to and extent.

It depends on your family, I guess.
If I could stay in my own family, I'd like to be the oldest still. XD My bro and younger cousins all defer to me without my having to exert too much effort. And I'm privy to some matters only adults would know about.

I come from a pretty big family, and I'm the youngest girl with only one younger sibling. However, between my younger brother and I there is a nine year gap, as well as a nine and half year gap between my youngest older sister and I. Sometimes it's really annoying because while I am out of school, my little brother is in the 4th grade and in the perpetual stage of "you're not the boss". Don't get me wrong; I love him. However, I don't think I could handle another younger sibling. Though I am older than he is, I am in no way his 'boss' nor do I get to tell him what to do unless he is doing something he really shouldn't be.
I can't say I was really pain for my older sisters considering they weren't around to house too much when I was younger because of the nearly decade long age gap between us.
Coming from a house that consistently had no less than 8 people living in it, I have always enjoyed the company of family, however, boss or not =)

Me? i'm an older sibling. and... I HATE IT! i'd rather be a middle child because being oldest sucks but i try to make my sister's life hell too so being youngest probably sucks more. >_<...
being oldest is tough. too many responsibilities... whenever the young one does something wrong, you're to blame. no questions asked. being first to choose stuff isnt always cool. there are times when you gotta have someone else go before you to show you the right (or wrong) path. if you're oldest, there's really no one to show you ((of course there are your parents... but what do they know? o_o)).
being youngest, you probably get picked on... and most certainly constantly compared to the eldest sibling. what's more, you get hand-me-downs and i HATE hand-me-downs!
conclusion? i'd rather be the middle sibling (as i said before). then, i get a (un)fair share from the older and younger sisters/brothers.

I too, want to be the oldest. Because I'm the one who choose first and decide anything. Beside, the difficulities is only to keep the younger one, and responsible for their needs. That's not worrying me, because it's easy to guard them. In the reality, I has one younger sister and it is easy to keep them as our parents want. ^^ But, I want to be the youngest one too, because the youngest usually more loved by their parents than the oldest one. ^^

I Am and personaly i love being the younger child i get to be the innocent child and my older sibling allways has the hard way whereas i always get my way that just my selfish nature comming out yay for me Lol But being the younger child isnt always the best because if your older sis or bro in my case sis does somthing wrong lets say damages the custom wheels of a car of cause the younger brother (me) gets concequences of his own meaning that his mother and father dont trust him as much because of his sister doing somthing. i think being the older and younger sibling both have there good points and bad points but ultimately you dont get to choose much now do you lol.

For me i think of to be the younger child, from my point of view younger is happy that the older child. Becouse now i am a big brother and if i can i want to feel to be a younger child.
"Family" mean nobody get left behind
We all might be relying on someone without know it. Only slightly, so we didn't even notice it.
Believe being the eldest suck man you'll be blame for everything of what your younger brother done.

I'm the youngest of 7 kids and I would not trade that position for the world. Like someone said earlier, it really depends on the family. My family loves spoiling everyone rotten - especially those younger than them. So I'm in a fairly advantageous position in the family hierarchy; I get to have my way more often than my siblings. But at the same time, it's harder for my parents or sibs to take me seriously precisely because I'm "young." Plus, I'm always babied, no matter how old I am or how competent I've proven myself to be. Everything has an up and a down, I guess.
I'm the oldest in my family and I love that because my little brother and sister get in so much trouble my parents don't have enough time to keep track of everything I do. But I have to babysit and my sister is evil and my brother just follows her around and they plot, agianst me.
O lawd, I would never want to be an only child. Why? because what if your mum and dad have gone, and you're home alone and your friends are too busy for you? What now? No brothers or sisters in the house to like, bother and such. That would sucks [not on topic]
