Strike Freedom vs. Wing Zero
2 years 3 weeks ago
Ok, this was brought up by OtakuGaijin and seemed to be a pretty interesting versus topic. So here's the guidelines you can use the specs of the Gundams and experience of the pilots to help you determine who comes out on top. Please give reasons to back up your statements and not just spouting things out like "Wing Zero will win." I would prefer people use examples from the each series to further strenghten their argument by considering the pilots skill and Gundam. Also for those who don't know please specify which Wing Zero you are talking about because the Wing Zero from the series and the one from Endless Waltz are the same Gundam, but Zero Custom was just redesigned just for the movie. Some people, like myself, have always thought that the EW Wing Zero was an entirely separate and upgraded version of Wing Zero, but this isn't true. Even though they are the same Gundams, Wing Zero Custom can't go into Neo Bird mode like in the series, and doesn't have a shield. This is why you should specify which Zero you are talking about. This also applies to all the Gundams in Endless Waltz just so everyone knows.

With firepower strike freedom has too much of it: Hi-Mat mode w/ homing system(how could you home lasers?!?!), Dragoon funnels...The only thing that wing zero could be better than strike freedom is its zero system w/c allows the pilot to see future fight battles and use the appropriate counter attack.
And I think strike freedom would be user friendly even to newbie pilots compared to zero system w/c would turn any pilot psycho. And Heero is just a regular human w/c is has possibly trained too much compared to kira w/c is a coordinator newtype w/c is too damn cheating. hehe :D
BTW I think this will be locked soon coz i think they dont allow too much of those X vs X threads

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the second gundam known as Wing Gundam. Geez.
And I think Baran Doban will kick both their asses at the same time while eating free spaghetti at the local 4-way drug store.

No, Heero piloted Wing Gundam in the beginning of the series and self-detonated it. Quatre found the blue prints for Wing Zero and built it and Heero eventually received it and is now his since he is the only person besides Milliardo Peacecraft who can use it without going insane.larukucielPlease correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the second gundam known as Wing Gundam. Geez.
Is there really that many Vs. topics because theres only two including this one. I hope it isn't locked because I put some time into my first post to start it off.
I usually don't compare elements from other universes but just this once I'll do it for fun.
Wing Zero sport a fusion reactor while Strike Freedom carries with it a fission reactor. I've also wondered how a fission reactor can have a higher output than a fussion reactor but that's not this discussion. Neither side is going to run out of power. Wing Zero may run out of Vernier fuel (truster propellent) however.
Wing Zero has the Zero system which is multiple-targeting but in addition it relays combat information directly back into the pilot's brain giving the best tatical advice possible by displaying all the possible combat scenarios and their outcomes even if its not the best option in terms of avoiding collateral damage (i.e. blowing up Peacemillion in order to destroy Altron). It is important to remember however that these are predictions and not facts on what will occur. Strike Freedom is equipped with the HI-MAT which is also a multi-targeting combat system. It doesn't have the mind warping side effects of the Zero system but at a reduced combat effectiveness.
Strike Freedom's DRAGOONs will offer Kira a distinct tactial advantage. The Zero system on the other hand can quickly analyze the movment patterns of the DRAGOONs and tell Heero where to shoot. Wing Zero's buster rifle is a particle cannon and the closest thing that Strike Freedom has to that is the MGX-2235 "Callidus" multi-phase beam cannon. With power rating unknown its tough to tell which is better. The Buster rifle can be moved while firing while the torso cannon is stationary.
This is more anaylsis then what's really needed. Using EW Wing Zero, the angelic wings can be used as a very effective sheild for the gundam. Whereas I'm not entirely certain that Strike Freedom's beam shield can repel a particle beam shot from the Buster Rifle (espescially when the Buster Rifle is combined). The DRAGOONs wont offer much support if the Zero System can predict their movments and Heero shoots them down. But for that to occur Heero will need to be able to avoid getting hit while he makes the shots. A DRAGOON's laser beam can tear away gundanium armor if it makes contact. The MMI-M15E "Xiphias 3" rail cannons are usless againest gundanium armor which is virtually imprevious to physical attacks. However the MA-M21KF high-energy beam rifles will melt away gundanium armor with ease (espesially when combined). The wing vulcans on Wing Zero's shoulders are useless againest VPS armor but the Buster Rifle will pretty tear the VPS apart. I didn't forget about the MA-M02G "Super Lacerta" beam sabers but Wing Zero fought Epyon with his gigantor beam saber, so I didn't know how to rate that one.
I see this as a toss up. Both pilots are highly skilled comabtants and wont falter in battle unless something else is on their mind.

I think Strike Freedom will win. Kira is the best fighter.
Lols wat a short answer ne wayz besides equipment and specs, I would look at the PILOTS themselves.
Heero Yui is a NATURAL BORN KILLER. He is an assasin! He was conditioned to kill and only kill by following orders and he abides to his mission. HE wants to complete his mission. And thats it. And if anyone gets in his way, he'll DESTROY you. I mean, he comtemplated (and wanted to) kill/murder Marlene PeaceCraft (did I spell that right?)! THis guy is soo badass, that he even Self-destructed his Wing Gundam WHILE HE WAS ON IT! HE ISNT AFRAID OF DEATH! Throughout the series, his thoughts were mostly about "WIll I Survive?", "When will I Die?, "I don't need to be here" etc etc...I mean he's practically suicidal! If a guy isnt afraid of death and he's coming to kill you, you better be scared. His skills are crazy too. He may not be a coordinator or have 'Seed Mode', but he is damn fast and isnt afraid to pull the trigger.
Now Kira Yamato (compared to Heero Yui) is a damn sissy! He has to take 10 minutes to think about whether or not he should shoot down someone. In fact, after he realizes about what he should be fighting for, he starts blasting at legs, arms, heads and weapons of Mobile suits, not at cock-pits. THe guy doesnt want to kill! Kira is like a normal dude (besides the fact that he is a coordinator), he grew up with friends, having a peaceful life, until of course he got thrusted into the war. But even then, he is still afraid to squeeze the trigger. However, the only time he is not afraid is when he gets into fighting and goes Bezerk (like in Gundam Seed, when he fought against the Desert Tiger on the sands, he blew away this dude with his massive gunz) but thats only 1 TIME!! JUST ONCE!!
Ne wayz, the guy is not on a level compared to Heero Yui. Have you seen Heero shed a tear? Have you seen Heero throw a gun at sumone instead of using it? Does Heero shoot at legs, arms and heads of Mobile Suits to disable them? HELLS NO! HE USES HIS BUSTER GUN AND DESTROYS THEM!
Kira does have 'Seed Move' which can sort even out the discrency between Heero skills and Kira's. That is the only thing I can think of that I dont really know much about. Heero is fast and so is Kira but only in 'Seed Mode'. Kira is a biologically made super-human (aka: Ultimate Coordinator) and Heero is a conditioned Assasin (aka: 'Ultimate tool of destruction').
So yeah it is hard to see who would win. BUt if you think about the Gundams and the specs, well, I do admit that Strike Freedom is damn well equiped. THe only thing powerful on Wing Zero is his twin Buster rifles. Hell, imagine HEERO YUI PILOTING THE STRIKE FREEDOM? Holy he would own all Gundams.
SO I suppose wat? They are even? Kira maybe a PANSY, but he has the Strike Freedom. On specs alone, Kira has the Advantage. Wing Zero may hve the Zero System but compared to the Strike Freedom arnaments, Strike Freedom takes all. But comparing the PILOTS alone, Heero Yui Wins, no competition there.
Oh and to make Gundam Seed fans not hate me more, KIRA YAMATO IS THE BEST DRESSED MALE compared to HEERO YUI and his speedo/1980-look. Heero please get sum pants and a good-lookin shirt.
Kira does have a good wardrobe :)

The powerplant used in the Gundams in the Gundam Wing is odd because Wu Fei's Altron Gundam ran out of power when they decided to escape into space. All of the Gundams in Gundam Wing use the same power supply, so I'm not too sure if Wing Zero won't run out of power if it has to fight for a long periods of time. Strike Freedom doesn't necessarily have a unlimited power supply because Destiny Gundam, who uses the same power supply, was close to running out of power because of its massively draining Wing of Light, but I doubt Kira is going to fire all his weapons at the same time over and over again.
The Zero System is a cockpit system that quickly calculates battle data and feeds the large amounts of stats on estimated values directly back to the pilot. But this system also drives a pilot to his limits. To the extent that he won't even fear his own death. Thus helping him gain absolute victory. The system also relays different outcomes or scenrios for total victory. Heero Yuy is immune to the side effects of the Zero System at the end of the series after completely mastering a similiar system in Gundam Epyon.
Armor wise, Wing Zero and the other Gundams are made of Gundanium Alloy equivilent to Phase Shift Armor. Zero is made of it so its protected at all times and the same can be said for S. Freedom who has a unlimited power supply.
EW Wing Zero has shoulder mounted guns that are useless against S. Freedom, two beam sabers, and the Twin Buster Rifle. The Twin Buster rifle can be shot like a beam rifle, fired like a beam cannon for continues fire for sweeping attacks and can be done when separated, and fully charged blasts. Fully charged blasts can only be fired three times and is ineffective during a duel. Also has those angelic wings to protect itself from enemy fire.
Strike Freedom's got the whole packagae 8 DRAGOONs, 2 railguns, 2 beam rifles, a chest cannon, beam shield, 2 beam sabers and head mounted machine guns.
Now to the pilots. Heero Yuy is a trained assassin who has mastered the Zero System that gives him heighten battle awareness. He has fought and defeated Milliardo Peacecraft, who has also mastered the Zero System in Gundam Epyon. Heero Yuy is a trained assassin who does not concern himself about his only well being or safety.
Kira Yamato is a Coordinator, who has fought in two wars so far between the Naturals and Coordinators. He is experienced in operating Strike Freedom, which is similar to Freedom. His note worthy battles would be his defeat of Rau Le Creust in his Providence Gundam and Rey in his Legend Gundam. Kira Yamato only aims for the cameras and weapons and never the cockpit.
In space it kind of seems to be a one sided fight because Wing Zero and the other Gundams, besides Heavyarms, are designed for close quarters combat, but Strike Freedom is designed for both. No one is sure how well the Zero System will help Heero against someone like Kira and his DRAGOONs. Close combat wise I think Heero's got the edge since Kira seems to only spam his beam weapons all the time. When it comes to long range weapons I'm sure Heero can destroy the beam rifles and DRAGOONs leaving S. Freedom with the chest cannon, railguns, and beam sabers. The chest cannon can only be fired in a fixed position. The Twin Buster rifle is much more powerful then S. Freedoms chest cannon just for the fact it can destroy a colony with one shot. The key to this battle in space is whether Heero can destroy those DRAGOONs, if not its going to become a problem. If he is able to he can now rely on his experience in close quarters combat. I think the out come will be decided with the beam saber then with beam weapons. Wing Zero doesn't have all them flashy weapons like S. Freedom, but is equipped simply with a long and short range weapon. I think in the end Heero will win just for the fact he is trying to kill Kira, while Kira is just trying to disarm him and render him immobile.

Those are all great arguments and everything, but I think that Kira will win. As soon as he fires all his weapons at once, it'll be over. Sure, Heero may be able to dodge the beams, but Kira can fire them continuously, and Heero will only be able to dodge for so long before he makes a mistake. It's not like Heero has a shield to block anything with, either. Well, not if he's piloting Wing Zero custom, anyway.

Actually his wings can be used as a shield. Kira can lock on to enemies that are stationary basically not moving and they have of course have to in front of him. Thats why you see petty soldiers in mobile suits getting disabled by him because they aren't exactly moving, but just staying in one place and shooting at him and still miss.nycaznThose are all great arguments and everything, but I think that Kira will win. Whats that?
Lols Kira's "50 guns-a-blazing" move only hits stationary targets. Also, Wing Zero has wings which can be used as shields. Heero uses those wings as a heat shield when doing a re-entry onto Earth. SO blasters have no effect Heero. HE can block and dodge all he wants...oh and I never seen Heero make a mistake when piloting a Gundam...that is totally unheard of.

When Wu Fei's Shenlong gundam (Altron was Wu Fei's second gundam) was adrift in space that was because he was out of fuel. Reactors may provide power for a MS but they can't go anywhere without fuel. At least that's how it is in the A.C. universe. Wing Zero (both versions) will face this same problem.
As long as Strike Freedom doesn't drain more power than the reactor can replenish then Kira won't have to worry about running out of energy. If Kira (for whatever unknown reason) does drain more energy than the reactor can handle then he will lose all power and have to recharge.
OtakuGaijin... Heero Yui is a NATURAL BORN KILLER. He is an assasin! He was conditioned to kill and only kill by following orders and he abides to his mission. HE wants to complete his mission. Heero dispite being trained by Odin Lowe was not an assassin. He was taught how to survive and use a gun. Doctor J taught Heero how to use explosives and (possibly) hide his emotions when in combat. Also the guy is partially suicidal because he feels remorseful about killing that girl and her dog. He feels that dying would be a way he could repent for his mistake. It wasn't until the end of the sereis that Heero found reasons to live shouting "I will survive"
OtakuGaijinNow Kira Yamato (compared to Heero Yui) is a damn sissy! He has to take 10 minutes to think about whether or not he should shoot down someone. NO, Kira went beresek when fighting Yzak, Dearka, and Nicol causing serious damage to Yzak's unit, injuring Yzak. Then trying to kill Athrun but failing. Then he went beresek again impaling Rau Le Creuset with a beam saber. Kira never wanted to fight in the first place. He doesn't like the notion of taking life, which leads to some internal struggles, and when he realizes what to fight for he doesn't his damnest to spare as many lives as he can.
On another matter: it takes a far greater amount of skill to incapasitate someone as opposed to just kill them. There's nothing worng with incapasitating your opponent, it just shows that you are that much better than they are. Look at G Gundam. They only killed a handful of crazies and disabled the rest.
Why is it that people have to notionn that whenever someone is in a Gundam or just in a mech for that matter, the pilot has to maim his advisories? Why is it always "who can I kill?" or "how do I blow this up?" Not killing someone doesn't mean your a coward or a sissy. If anything it means your better they they are because you don't have to take life in order to win. Maybe killing your opponent is the only way to stop them, but if you don't have to then why bother? Taking life doesn't make you cool or anything. (Hmm...this would be a good subject for a new post...)
Not a very good picture of strike freedom there...haha
anyways strike freedom > wing zero. kira > heero wahahaha
anyways strike freedom > wing zero. kira > heero wahahaha

Assassin - One who murders by surprise attack, especially one who carries out a plot to kill a prominent person. Thats the exact definition and that prominent person or persons would have to be the high ranked members of OZ. We know that the five Gundams and Gundam pilots were sent to Earth to dismantle OZ militarily and politically in the Earth Sphere Alliance. One objective the Gundam pilots were suppose to complete was the assassination of the OZ members, which ended up in failure when they mistakenly kill the Pacifist group within OZ who were trying to get peace talks going between the Colonies and Earth. So they are basically assassins, who were trained to kill. Heero is only 16, I think, and he can operate a highly complex piece of machinery, a Gundam, knows how use a gun, set explosives, and basically knows how to kill. So I don't know what else makes a assassin if all those things I listed don't.nychi002Heero dispite being trained by Odin Lowe was not an assassin.
Then again they tend to bite you in the @ss when you let them live, like when Kira disabled Shinn and also saved his life from Stellar, but instead thanks Kira with a Anti-Ship Sword pierced into Freedoms torso. Also if you don't have the intent on killing someone and your enemy does your just placeing a handicap on yourself because you can't fight to your full potential. Thats one reason why Shinn was able to defeat Kira in Freedom.nychi002On another matter: it takes a far greater amount of skill to incapasitate someone as oppose to just kill them. There's nothing worng with incapasitating your opponent, it just shows that you are that much better than they are. Look at G Gundam. They only killed a handful of crazies and disabled the rest.
Yes, its not cool to kill someone because the series has shown us that when you kill someone a cycle of hatred and revenge starts to turn.nychi002Why is it that people have to notionn that whenever someone is in a Gundam or just in a mech for that matter, the pilot has to maim his advisories? Why is it always "who can I kill?" or "how do I blow this up?" Not killing someone doesn't mean your a coward or a sissy. If anything it means your better they they are because you don't have to take life in order to win. Maybe killing your opponent is the only way to stop them, but if you don't have to then why bother? Taking life doesn't make you cool or anything. (Hmm...this would be a good subject for a new post...)
