Well, it's hard to say because I don't really care about from which country the technic is I'm using.
But from what I heard and realized by using I think that Japan is still the one with the the best technology development. They are great in inviting new things and new technology which is amazing mostly comes from Japan. Just take the development of the first humanoid robots. Japan has taken a big step forward in this. They are inviting so many new things which are really usable that I really think that Japan has the better technology development as the USA. But let's hear some other opinions

I would have to say Japan, overall.
Looking at the automotive industry, it's not hard to see that Japan wipes the US off the charts, mostly due to the american car companies refusing to move forward. Nissan and Subaru have some of the most technilogically advanced automobiles on the market, and have for years.
Computer hardware is designed almost exclusively in Japan, and it's complexity blows my mind every day. However, what good would that hardware be without an operating system? Both Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows are exclusively designed in the US, so we've got them there.
TV's, radios, vibrating chairs, and gadgets of all sorts, Japan seems to have it down. Weather it's the technology that's further along, or the creativity, because that's really what invention really boils down to, I'm not sure.
It seems that most of the ideas start in the US, though. They're just perfected in Japan. My 2 cents.

Well it is hardly to compare. Each one of these countries has a specialty technology of its own,... I suppose. I have never been to Japan and I haven't been to the States since 1998, so I could hardly tell.
I would say that Japan is indeed more advanced than USA because they were the ones who invented whole body robots ahead of USA. Furthermore in terms of Videogames they work 10 times faster and harder than any foreign Game design company, that's just an assumption from me.

I'd easily say Japan is ahead in technology than USA by a few years. USA Cell Phone Technology is weak compared to japan. I mean, Konami's e-Amuse system ties into the cellphone networks there, how cool is that? Hehe. Japan has so much more cool electronic stuff than we do. USA, the way it is built, is doomed to slower development pace. I blame unions. Thats why we're seeing outsourcing to foreign labor here to people who will do the job faster for less pay than union workers. Sure the quality of work isnt as good (which is why I Love Japanese product, for its strength of quality, who's heard of broken Wii's [yeah yeah stupid wiimote] compared to number of red ringed 360's or duffed PS3s?) but at least that work gets done, right?

The best Super Computers are from Japan or other stuff like that
The USA are good in Weapon Technology and cars bt thats it i think.

I wouldn't really use the cellphone market as a basis as to why Japan is more advanced than us. Even if we were as advanced, it would not really matter since the American market for cell phones is very basic in terms of needs. Many Americans don't need blazing fast speed, data plans, or any extras beyond a phone. Consumer demand would probably be a determinant of how advanced the cell phone market grows in America.

I would have to say Japan for right now for many reasons. One reason is that car compaines in America are now starting to combine or at least contribute with Japan companies. They are starting to get ahead of us in that department. They have also created some of the best video game consoles out there to. Not to mention the games they have also produce is awesome. Lastly Japan have the advantage because they create and produce the best computers out there today. United States does have some advantage out there today compared to most countries, but for right now I believe they're are behind Japan.

I think Japan is more advanced than the USA in terms of technology. Japan seems to be always inventing all these weird and crazy gadgets which i love and cant get enough of ;p
Iunno much about economics, but judging from what people have said, I wouldn't be surprised if Japan was ahead of the US. I like technologies from both worlds though ^_^ But one thing I don't think Japan is ahead in the US is software development, coze Bill Gates and Microsoft just came to mind

Also, the fact that the US has Microsoft does not really speak for advancement. It's just that the Windows platform is readily available that no one can really compete. For example, if I had a 122 MHZ computer with 8 megs of ram, and I controlled the market, I could essentially make the whole market use that computer despite technology advancing.

They have very cool mobile stuff and any technology stuff there is amazing!
