Greatest Hero In Final Fantasy
Who do you think is the greatest or most note worthy hero in FF?
My personal opinion is Tidus, although not the strongest like Squall or the Coolest Like Cloud, he has a courage and understanding beyond his young years or childish demeanor could properly display without the devastation of Spira and the potential loss of a particular summoner's life.
Please tell me what you think, or who you think fits the bill and why.

My favorite FF hero is Ramza from FF Tactics
all other heroes from their teams, go all around and make friends, have support but Ramza didn´t have it so easily

Very well put keyblademaster. I glad that you understand real heroism, like myself, where it isn't just a starring role, but a choice.

None. They all were just the stereotypical shy-guys-that-are-secretly-cool. Some villains, however, were fairly interesting characters.
As cool as Cloud and Squall are I don't really see them as heroic. Despite them both being main characters and being the main motivator (the person that brings everyone together) in destroying the evils threatening to destroy thier worlds, they both lack something. Cloud not being sure of who he was meant that he lost some of his heroicness and Squall being a moaning cry baby ruined his chances. They did have their moments however (like Squall saving Rinoa). I don't particulary think Zidane deserves any hero points and despite not being a fan of Tidus... His selfless act makes him the most heroic out of out main lads from 7 through 10.
I would have to say some of the most heroic characters in FF are out of the girls. At least that's how I feel. Yuna and Aeris definatly deserve a mention. Aeris because of the end of disc one and how she acted in order to save everyone she loved and the Planet (even if it didn't really go to plan), which is similar to Tidus' situation in a way. Yuna (in X not X-2) also deserves a mention because she wants to save everyone from Sin and devoting your life to becoming a summoner must be hard esspecially after finding out...
I guess what I'm saying is that for me there isn't an overall greatest hero in FF but there are a handful of characters who really stand out. The ones who knowingly risk their own lives (Tidus, Yuna and Aeris) to save everyone elses are for me definatly more heroic than the ones who get swept up in the motion of things like Squall or Zidane. I guess you could also say that characters like Barret and Garnet are heroic too because they want to make the world a better place...
I babble Oo;;

Cloud and Squall were both asses. at least Tidus wasn't an ass. my favorite FF hero is Celes though, she was separated from her friends after Kefka initiated doomsday and was all alone in some island with her granddad who died later on (though if you feed him enough fish he'll live...) and instead of being an emo little bitch, she set off to find her friends (and wonders she found them all!) and attempt to save the world once more. and because she was a former general and generals are cool.
I've only played FFX and X-2. Out of those, I think Auron is the best.
Oh man...She had to say Zidane, I have to agree. No hero there, my apologies to the Zidane fans, but it seemed like there was no motivation, other than the one liner at the demo screen. Vivi, on the other hand really racked in the points with me. but as a enigma, as a opposed as a hero. But that I suppose is off topic. Cessa, you are on the right track, I believe. Cloud was antihero, not hero, who wanted to settle things between him and Sephiroth, it was in the best interest of the planet, but he didn't really care about that till near the end. So Cloud, although the coolest, again, not hero material till advent children (sorry imPanda...my bad.) Squall had more potential, as Rinoa dragged him out of his shell, and made him realize that there was more to life than him, he realized his place among his friends. He wanted to save them from death, and went very far to protect them and Rinoa. So there is FF Vi's hero. As far as Yuna goes, I agree she's every bit the hero that Tidus is. No doubt. Although the stubborn streak in her was perplexing, but such is her complex character. I was very pleased with her just prior to the fight in Zanarkand, for realizing her value to her friends. Aeri(th/s) did urk me on one thing. maybe someone can clear this up for me...WHY did she just run off, to summon holy without anyone else. Independance is one thing, but it was a suicide run. With all the crap on Sephiroth, like how he likes to perform unnecessary surgery on disabled nuns, so again why? That's like me dropping into beirut butt naked with a butter knife...I don't see the heroism there, it seems more like grand standing...Sephiroth found out of the Black Materia, obviously after his take on Palpatine's gravity experiment. So with that in mind, is it not reasonable to think he learned of it's anthesis? Ok, enough of Aeri(s/th)...I digress. but if anyone would speculate for me on this, it would alleviate a near decade old headache.
For the record My Top Five Heroes are
1. Tidus/Yuna (Tie)
2. Cloud/Squall (Tie)
3. Ramza
4. Auron
5. Locke Cole

I would go with Squall Leonhart. Why? I felt that you can see him grow from someone uncaring and isolated to someone who became a good leader and a btter person in the end. He is great in battles for he never misses, can automatically do criticals. I like the way Squall dresses and the gunblade is just an awesome weapon. Although Squall is my favorite, most of the heros for Final Fantasy were cool in my opinion.

she wanted to be an hero.
Ashe from FFXII maybe?
Probably Zack from FF VII.
Well, castel...I think you didn't really answer. I, however appreciate the effort. Nice pic...
Any other takers?
mcrazar has an excellent point with Squall's character development, which is part and parcel to a good hero.

Are any of you Laguana Loire fans? I really dont hear to much talk about him, I really played threw FFVi because of him and his story. I think he is a great hero because he kept fighting as a teenager, a parent, and as an older man! Anywase, enough rambling out of me, I just find Laguana to be a great character.
