I prefer mostly fighting games and action-rpg games how about you guys
L like RPGS, especially square enix games, they put alot of work into their series and they are not only eyecandy but also have a nice story. =) KH2!
RpgS...some 2d action cant hurt(ex-rockman/megaman-fan)...dun like 3d action much...
3d fighting(tekken) is a no for me...always got confuse with buttons and stuff...i'll stick with 2d fighting like MvC1/2...
suprisingly...i LOVE Armored Core, dispite that it is a 3d game...mb its becuz it feels weird to have a robot-action game(hi-tech) in a 2d game lol^^;
rpgs are the top choices for me...becuz FF made a big impression to me when i was really young...and i love teh game and stuff...(back then...i don't even play for story line...i just...play lol)...and re-play them around 6yrs ago and realy enjoy them since i can play US version(instead of jap version) and understand the story well...
long live RPGS~!~!~!

Pretty much everything...RTS, RPGS, action/shooting and a bit of racing. However, what I like the MOST is RTS and TBS/SRPG games. Some titles like Earth 2160, Warcraft 3, Disgaea (SRPGs) and Act of war Direct Action, Tiberium Wars and Starcraft (RTS) are my favorite. I also LOVE Sonic games (Sonic Adventure 2, Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog -Next-gen-). The only type of games I hate are sports games, since for sports, I usually prefer to go outside and play sports instead of a Strategy-based sport game. I don't wanna be the coach, I wanna be the PLAYAH who's on the field! :P I also tend to dislike fighting games and I barely play any puzzle games.

My favorite type of games are Action/Adventure games, with simualtion games second. I like most genres, though. The only types I dislike are racing games and most sports games. Never have I played a racing game that I actually enjoyed. Other that, I like all genres.
I like strategy(warcraft) and rpg(Final fantasy). i like srpg(disgaea) rpg combined with strategy too

For playing by yourself its best to play RPGs...they have long and fun storys to keep you busy for a while. But for playing with others online or with friends action/shooting or fighting games are the best =)
The larger portion of my collection for PS2 is made up of anime strategy RPGs like Disgaea, La Pucelle, Atelier Iris, Phantom Brave etc. I also own a lot of standard RPGS. Since I'm the only one in my house who plays games, I usually looks for ones that have more value for a single player than multiple players. (Although, I do own a good chunk of fighting games). I also own a couple of surivival horror styled games, namely Silent Hill 3 and Haunting Ground, but there's not much I have in that genre.
Pardon me for answering this in kind of a different way...
Irony of ironies, I really didn't enjoy RPG's an awful lot when I was young, my first foray into the genre was Dragon Warrior (NES) and my young teenage mind apparently just didn't have the patience for the exploration, turn-based fights, 'get that key' type of elements when they're were action games to play that provided immediate gratification. Fortunately, year[s] later I gave the genre another and try and, long story short, RPG's are now easily my favorite types of games (and I include SRPG's here). As for Dragon Quest, to continue the irony, the series ranks as one of my all-time favorite franchises -- and I even re-obtained Dragon Warrior I to give it the chance it deserved long ago.
Full circle.

Fighting for me. And Action games like Ninja Gaiden. I also enjoy good FPS for multiplayer mainly as I haven't enjoyed a FPS single player since Perfect Dark. But play Halo2 Multiplayer on odd occassions. The only racing game I play is Mario Kart on SNES and DS.
Single player: RPG, Survival Horror. Games that you can get absorbed in.
Multipayer: Fighting, FPS. co-op is awsome.
Huge Resident Evil fan. Played a game called Obscure lame in comparrison to ResEvil but its multiplayer survival horror! They need more like that! Common Capcom you know you want to ^_^

Nothing makes the day go by like a good RPG. I can play all day but it has to be good. Other than that a well rounded fighting game is the way to go. I only like 2D or 2.5D(never knew that existed) fighting games though. 3D is too slow for me. These fingers can only work with the likes of Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Guilty Gear. Not completely button mashers. But if those are not avalible than I'll have to settle with a FPS. oh yeah.
