After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

Well I realize that the anime has made some large changes to the original play but let us remember that the anime is "based" off the original story which gives Gonzo some room to play around. Personally I think this rendition of the story only makes it better. More specifically I think the whole mysticism/fantasy with the floating land and the pegasus (or is the plural "pegasi"?) make it only more fantastic as a romance about "two star-crossed lovers." Well as we all know a story based off a legendary story from the victorian age will be nothing short of amazing...hopefully.

As for the animation qualty, I think it is simple yet effective in its execution. Its nothing to brag about per say but in its simplicity only stresses the importance of the story more.

And I do admit to crying on an episode or 2 already...

I think the anime is kicking so much ass so far. Some parts (such as when Romeo and juliet first run away) seem to go by kinda slow. but the action is really good in this show. I think for a romance show, it has the perfect mix of action and romance, making it suitable for both boys and girls. in the recent episodes, it seems like mercutio is gonna step in and have a bigger role. Cant wait!! I wonder how they are gonna do the tybalt vs. mercutio thing. At first, i had thought that it wouldnt happen, seeing as how mercution was doing lose to NOTHING, but now...I think that Mercutio might try somehting to hurt juliet and that will make tybalt kill him.

Romeo X Juliet is an anime that should not be missed.
Thought the story is different from the paly... It's still good~
It'll be boring to watching a story that you already now~
There are some characters that didn't appear in the anime and yet they appear in the drama. For example, Samson? Is he in the anime?

I think the animation is great. The storyline of William Shakespeare's epic classic detail. 2 years ago, GONZO created a story remake on Alexander Dumas' "Count of Monte Cristo". The animation detail looks stylish and artistic design. The color of the clothing, the hairstyle and the background is very not too much colorific details. Unlike other anime shows. They teamed up with Media Factory and GDH to develop one of the settings. The computerized 3D styling and detaling design looks comprehensive artistic look.

Romeo X Juliet is now a classic details. If I watched a movie, the two people have found dead. Romeo is drinking a poison juice, while Juliet is drinking her last drop of juice. and suddenly she found dead.

Is there the two families have to stop this fighting? I have to find out first.

The opening song was a re-version of the song. First, there is Westlife. It was a different catchy tune while the another version. Lena Park is written the Japanese version and the english version of the song. I've almost found on the website perhaps, but I like the sound and don't too much to try the vocal chords on you.

The ending song is very rock out tune and the sound is very artistic work for the song. I think i'll like the sound of the rock-out song lately.

The song opening and closing of "Gankutsou" is only song by Jean Jacques Burnel who did the composing of the song. But in "Romeo X Juliet" the opening is different song artist including the ending song. I think I'll think of something before the catchy tune or watch a picture and see what happens....................................
AnimeNewsNetwork
This is a story of a young and tragic love, set in the aerial city of Neo Verona. Tyranny rules this island in the sky after the Montague family took control 14 years prior. The disparity among the wealthy and poor is apparent in the present state, the earth dries and water stagnates. The sky itself is wrapped in a deep dense fog. Both Romeo and Juliet's lineages are of present and past ruling families of Neo Verona. Romeo is the son of the current Montague dictator, Juliet (a beautiful woman) masquerades as a man (Odin), she's the last descendent of Capulet the previous rulers who were killed by an assasin's dagger 14 years ago. Her true background is not to be revealed to her until her 16th birthday while being raised by her sister. The cruel hands of fate introduces 2 people who will become "Star Crossed Lovers".

Fansub Groups:

Umai
Shinsen

Characters:

The story begins with the young Juliet Capulet that lives as the heroine of her day with astonding swordsmanship and agility. She disguises herself as a boy as instructed by her guardians unknown to that fact that she is a Capulet and that fact was to remain a secret until her 16th birthday. However, the Montague (mainly Romeo's father, except for Romeo himself) has massacred every possible Capulet due to their opposing threat when Juliet was just a young child, unable to remember the past. The Capulets were the former rulers of Neo Verona until the Montagues visciously took over. Romeo is part of the nobility livng lavishly while Juliet lives as a meager commoner. However, through fate, they occasionally meet and their passion fuels their desire to be together.

Story:

The Montague family has become a dictator-like regime that previously massacred every Capulet (the former rulers of Neo Verona) except for several, including Juliet, the last of the Capulet. Her true identity as a Capulet is even unknown to herself and she is advised to be in disguise as Odin, a young boy. However, through a set of circumstances, Romeo and Juliet will only intensify their passion through every meeting.

Animation:

The animation in the 1st episode was impressive and it was one of the reasons that inspired me to write this entire thread. The action scenes (although short in ep. 1)are intense and well thought out with good sound to match. The background imaging is also detailed and truly depicts wonderful Verona in a different fashion. The main scene in which Romeo and Juliet (as a woman, not Odin) fall in love at first sight, that truly begins this passionate piece by Shakespeare was well drawn, timed, and you could literally grasp that moment with your eyes. The only down side to the animation is that the insignificant background characters are not perfectly animated. Also, the backgrounds images are well drawn and detailed.

Music:

The OP is "Inori ~You Raise Me Up~" by Lena Park has a soft tone, but somewhat dull. However, on the contrary, the ending song, "Cyclone" by 12012, is more volatile and is the very opposite of the OP due to the style of how it's sung, but still pretty good.

Verdict:

Overall, the show started off well and the animation is impressive too. Hopefully, they'll maintain the quality. The story and plot is also solid and there are so many possibilies and turns the show can take. Although this is technically bad when it comes to being an adaption of Shakespeare's play, as an anime series, it has a lot of potential and is good so far.
Verdict: 9/10
I am finding that there is a little too much mushy romance in the last few episodes. I feel that they have already established their love in previous episodes, and its now going a little overboard into boredom.

I AGREE...they have taken it to the point of being unrealistic. People who have watched episode 12 will get what I mean. Really, why would they go and do that? =( ) emoticon

I'm really liking this anime so far. I love all the little changes they have, and the animation is gorgeous, specially when you can get a working mkv file to watch. The animation is so clean, and really works well with the story. I also love how its not exactly like the play, that would be so boring.

SPOILER (click to view)

There are so many little things that make it worth watching. Really. I'm also head over heels for the flying horses X3

I'm definitely going to stick with this one till the end though.

Subs sometimes are slow, but they're good quality so its worth waiting for them. 8)E emoticon

The series is taking a turn for the worse though...but at least it's different from the original play like the characters and stuff. Yes, it's mushy, but isn't that like one of the main points of this anime? >:3 emoticon

Gonzo have a reputation for doing great anime, but I think they're running out of ideas, I mean come on, this a play created a long time ago, couldn't they just make something we never saw before. Maybe because I'm European I can't stand this story but that's my opinion.

The opening song is sung by Josh Groban - You Raised Me Up (English) <-- that's the original.

However, the Japanese version is good as well.

I'm up to date with the anime (English subs), and I'm really into it considering the courses and English literature I took never covered ROmeo and Juliet.

I'm currently taking a credential course for graduation which we talk about Shakespeare's works. And now, we're talking about Romeo and Juliet. Comparing and contrasting both the literary work and the anime... is pretty interesting.

I really like the style and the animation of Romeo and Juliet after watching 3 episodes . It's really different watching Shakespeare's work through anime but its really interesting to see a different point of view for a tragedy love story of two lovers!
