Sad ending like in the book or happy end?
Considering the way that GONZO ended Gankutsuou, I wouldn't be surprised if they went either way: killing both Romeo and Juliet or keeping them alive. *shrugs* I don't think they care to adhere to the original titles, but rather use them as a basis for their own adaptations.
That being said, I personally hope they stay alive. ^^; It doesn't necessarily have to be as they are, but as something else. I won't say since I don't wish to spoil it for anyone, honestly... but if any of you reading this have seen the latest raw episode, you may understand where I'm going at with this thought.

Donno what to say.Is probabily going to be a happy ending because I don't actualy see that the anime is going in the right way (Shakespeares theatre pice that is).
I hope that is going to be a sad ending.I love dramas, but whou knows.Maybe the ending won't mather that much because the story is a bit boring so people don't actualy like it because of that >.<

Well, the final episode just recently aired in Japan. In watching it... all I really have to say was that I was rather disappointed and that it felt rushed. It was very anti-climatic.

It kind of sucks that the ending seemed rushed... I've seen up to episode 21 with subtitles, and it seemed like it was going to have a sad ending then. Then again, I suppose I'll have to watch the ending for myself to judge.
I'm personally hoping for a sad ending, just because I think it would be better for the story... even if I do get emotional over it. D:

I think the end was good and everyone know that the end of Romeo and Juliet are the two will die .. overall the anime was really nice and I like it

Someone mentioned Gankutsuou (count of monte cristo) which i'd forgotten was be the same people (GONZO), but a fair point: they ended that so significantly differently to the original book, i wouldnt be surprised by a complete split from the shakespearian plot, resulting in riding/flying off into the sunset or somesuch. :P (and probably wouldnt object too much either)
[havent seen the ending yet myself, as i only started watching a few days ago and am working my way thru, hoping its going to be better than the genral impression given here so far...]

I just hope the two lovebirds are less stupid.

I feel that the ending should be inherently different from the original because this is a new creation with different spins on the characters. The opening sequence shows a potential happy ending with the last fade out, and heck I'd like to see them end up happy =) The drama build-up also doesn't seem like the original, so I don't think that this version will end in a double suicide.
All I want to say is that I hope they keep the original ending, like in the book.
It sure was sad, but the really have to keep it.

Both endings are pretty depressing. romeo, after all he went through, died because of some stupid branch!
how stupid is sthat???????
so juliet decides to kill herself for that.
unlike in the play, they thought each other were dead.
well, at least in the anime, juliet was able to have a few words with her romeo before he died, thats kinda like an improvement?
i dont 'know.

I hate an ending when the main character die...
but I think sad ending isn't bad for this series... because die together is the proof of their pure love.. ^_________^
eemmm sorry I didn't watch the final episode yet so... I hope I didn't read any spoiler... T______T

I kinda want a tragic ending like with Shakesphere. I mean, if it was based off of his play, why not? XD
It kind of has to be a sad ending since it is a anime based on the tragedy Romeo and Juliet they have already changed the story a lot so if they changed the ending to a happy ending they couldn´t call it a story based on Romeo and Juliet any longer. You can´t change the story totaly when basing it on another story, it would have been diffrent if it haden´t been based on shakespears play. So they will probably die both and I think Romeo will be the one which dies first.
