The Bleach dubbing
2 years 3 months ago
Tonight there's the first showing of Bleach in America. Now, everyone knows how bad some English voice acting is, but I've seen clips from the episode, and the voices aren't actually half bad.
I can Only say one thing here..
Watch Onepieces Dub,... then you will thank your god that bleach didnt get anything close to that terrible treament... hell it sounds like retarded circus midgets did it!
as far as dubs go I have I hopes for bleach...

I thought that Ichigo's voice wasn't too great. His voice is one of the Power Rangers and that's all I'm able to think about. Other than his I've only heard Rukia's voice, not too sure what my opinion of hers is yet. Still a little skeptical.
Try watching FLCL dubbed to german or swedish -.- or why not pokemon dubbed to russian? it sounds kinda weird in my ears (no offence)
Bleach starts on Fridays for us in Canada, and I can say now that the dubbing is done farely well. They're better than other english dubbed anime shows I've seen, so look forward to it tonight. It really doesn't matter to me how the voice sounds it's how good the acter is at acting. FlCl in engish wasn't even good. I watched Chobits in english half way and then the rest in japanese and the voice acting was done really good in both languages. Bleach is just as good =P

Watvhed it last night on tv, its up on youtube
All i have to say is... i hope that the voice acting is not set in stone yet, Ichigo is not supposed to sound like vash the stampede, Rukia sounds way to old (yes i know she is a couple of centuries old thats not the point) Karin sounds like she's trying to hard to act indifferent and Yuzu sounds to old considering she's only 9, in fact the only voice that seems to fit is the father (can't remember his name right now) and that seem to be only because he's acting like a child
also the extra words that they use to take the place of the longer japanese mouth movements is really really bad, they also have little to no comical timing so the funny moments that i loved in both the manga and the original episodes (thanx to youtube) wasn't as good as i wanted (and hoped) it do be, my only hope is that these things get fixed in the nexted couple of episodes

Personally I didnt think the voices were bad at all. I can ejnoy my show fine with that. But maybe thats cause I never watched the subbed ones. I only watched dubbed animes. But as I am starting to learn. We need more professional anime actors. Im starting to sense alot of the same voices in animes.( and some of those voices im even starting to sense in some american cartoons) Id like to have a wider variety in voices in animes when dubbed. for example Observer said that ichigo's voice sounded like Vash the stampede and Now that I think of it. Im almost certain it was probably done by the same guy.
Also on a side note real quick I have a question.
bak3donh1gh... who is that a picture of in the towel under your posts. =P

It was Ok, But I dont think Ichi and rukia voices match there personalities.
Umm i don't think voice actors were too bad like they are in Naruto, and personally i think Rukia's voice is exactly perfect the way it is since when she gets looked up and it gets all serious it will be perfect in that nature. Where as the ICHIGO voice is wayyyy tooo soft, i mean reallly soft...its not the type that will get you all excited when he is in a battle ...because ichigo jappense voice is an agressive type most of the time and serious type , but the english one nawww , his family voices were good also w/ sisters voice and stuff except Dad..his voice was also tooo soft..but then again that's just my opinion
I've recently picked up Bleach due to [as] airing it on Saturday. It seems like a really good series, but I'm pissed off at what they've done with the seiyuu cast. Read any of the Bleach topics and you'll see why. This isn't even the dubs we're talking about here.
They practically merged the casts of Naruto and Nadesico together to get who they have, and have tacked in some rather unexpected others such as Orikasa Fumiko and Noda Junko and a few others from the FMA seiyuu cast, as well as One Piece.
This isn't coincidence at all, so it really fricken' irritates me. There are too many well known seiyuu for it to be done without knowing. If I didn't know any better, I'd say they actually tried to assemble an 'all-star cast' simply for ratings.
The only character I really like thus far from the above mentioned series is Urahara Kisuke. Miki Shinchiro is an excellent seiyuu and I love his style. He fits the parts of both Saburota (Nadesico series/movie) and Kisuke perfectly.
The dubs, since I hadn't seen Bleach subbed before Sat, didn't seem that bad to me. I'd have to rewatch an episode dubbed to see how it compares. But I will say that Johnny Bosch doesn't really have that...pissed off negative attitude air about him. I honsetly can't see him playing someone like Ichigo at all.

Ichigo's voice pretty much worked for me but I didn't like Rukia, Kon, or Isshin (Ichigo's dad) at all. They sounded nothing like what I expected.
As fans, we expected the ENG to sound just like the JPN versions and I know that wont happen. But...it pisses me off when it's not even close. Kon was a huge disgrace. I don't even know what they were thinking...if I hear Kon screaming, "Hey, Ichigo!" like he usually does but with the dub voice, my ears will surely bleed.
Also, I think we should keep in mind that...its the first episode. I dont know how intense of a Bleach fan ya'll all are, but Masakazu Morita (Ichigo in JPN) sounded significantly different in the first episode than in say, episode 12. They need to grow into the roles and be coached by the directors or whatever.

As Gundress said, this is still the first episode so i'll keep my hopes (and my tivo) up for now
Wow.. I never knew there was a english dub for bleach ^^.. But I got surprised of the voice actors... I mean for my opnion, somthing doens't feel quiet right.. espicially Rukia's voice xD.. and Itchigo, sounds soo.. Light ( i donno But somthing dosn't feel right ) Maybe I was soo used to the japnese, It just feels wierd.. like naruto as well.. ( I don't really like the translations ethier.. )
THANK GOD THEY KEPT THE OPENING MUSIC IT SELF beacuse
like in Naruto OP the music for english dub is HORRIBLE..
one thing I really wont to see.. Is Bakuya and Kenpatchi's voice xD..
+ yachiru.. O man,, who can speak kawaii in Us xD?
+ and I think since.. Asians voice is are generally Light? ( for girls )
I don't think in all anime the english girl actors doens't fit .. ( 100% my opnion )

It wasn't half bad, but the voice for Ichigo didn't sound quite right because it lacked his arrogant personality. The voice for Rukia was ok, but it sounds too high compared to the Japanese version.
