I've decided to completely re-do this wallpaper. I've got the basic layout but I've no idea what to do as a background. On request, I've done it in widescreen: 1440 x 900. Well technically the request was to have it bigger, but eh.

First the file format: We only accept jpeg so make sure to upload the right format. The background is a bit too croweded with the pics in it an the stones above. Also the logo doesn't really make sense here and looks out of place. The required signature is also missing!

Um, is it possible to vector without the pen tool? I'm using Photoshop Elements 7 and can't seem to find the pen tool.
Would glad to add that "bigger" means 1920x1200 or even 2560x1600. If you already vector, then do it in big. Usually beginners or people providing quantity wallpapers instead of quality (not AP wallers of course...) get scared by it, due that renders become unusable by that size (pixelation, since they are raster based) and need vectoring or re-cg.
Vectoring without pentool is possible, and doing it by transforming lines with Line Tool. Be sure to avoid trying vectoring by stroking, which will produce weak quality and too high uniformity of the lines.

Oh by bigger was from the previous wallpaper over the page. Someone wanted see it in higer detail so they asked for it bigger. So is the render OK, or will I have to resort to the dreaded task of vectoring for the first time?
Anyway guys, thanks for all the tips and pointers, very helpful indeed. V2 of this wall will have my dA site on it and a mahjong 1 pin watermark as my signature.
BTW, what is the difference in uploading a wall with a different pic format? I've noticed when making sigs, people complain about how JPEG screws up color or something. So I got into the habit of PNG'ing my finished works.
Extraction can use work. The outlines are jaggy. Also the scans could use a bit more cleaning.
The background is way to plain and boring. Just a pale white background color with the mahjong pins in it. The extraction of these pins should also be improved. And cleaning would be a good idea.

About the file formats: use PNG if you create character vectors (belong to the scan gallery). PNG alias Portable Network Graphics is the only from the common image formats which supports transparency. But for wallpapers, since they go on with a full background is not needed, or rather said not even recommended, since they are bigger in size and takes much more time to load them. So JPG for walls pls.

I'll fix my render as best as I can but as for the BG I can't think of anything that will match...
With vector will be much awesome! Because you've two great characters! So i suggest you to vector them..and believe me vectoring isn't hard..step by step and you will know vector and improve on it!..and Also don't forgot your signature!..If you want any help let me know., i'd love to help you with stuff like this! ^_<-b

Wow thanks! I need some help on vectoring without using the pen tool, because Phototshop Elements doesn't seem to have it.
