My first public wallpaper

This is the first wallpaper that I've ever shown to anyone. I was trying to figure out how to make wallpapers (and generally use inkscape) with some pictures I found on an old backup disk. This one didn't turn out awful so I figured I might debut with it. Now I get to sit and wait for my wallpaper dreams to be crushed or vindicated. Anyways thank you for your time those brave souls who follow the link below!

First I want to say that PNG is not a acceptable format for wallpapers, you should use JPG. Second Inkscape is a good software - but is mainly for vectoring, but not for creating full wallpapers. And to this comes that the main problem of your wallpaper is in the very plain background, don't know if you use something else except Inkscape, but that should have not enough options for creating better backgrounds.
The character vector itself is good, tough noticing a little blur.
U need more textures and brushes for the background, guess best would be something snow themed.

I actually left it blurry on purpose...What program would you recommend for working with post vectoring work then? I tend to like simpler backgrounds due to the fact I often have a lot of Icons on my desktop, but I think your right now that I look at it, it needs something more, yet subtle. Anyway, thanks for your comments.
I agree with akiranyo. It's too plain but I guess it's good for the first wall. Mine first one I worked for a whole day with a tutorial in my hands. As they say practice makes perfect. Same goes to me too.

Heya :)
Akiranyo is pretty much on the mark in my opinion, a snow scene would suit the vector nicely, but I think you would better off making the vector sharper, with much more detail, and removing the blur.
As for text, while i don't really recommend text at all, sometimes it works, if you find the right font. You can download more fonts at places like DaFont.com to keep it interesting.
For vectoring I prefer Adobe Illustrator, but Inkscape can get the job done. For everything else i use Photoshop.
Lastly, before you can submit anything here, it needs your signature on it :)
Good Luck.

Aim of vectoring is actually to make them better quality and sharper so dunno why you should do that... :P
Btw I was told by my Inkscape-addict friend Moutonzare, that it can also do some good backgrounds, but I from my experience still would recommend Photoshop, or from the freeware ones GIMP. This two have much more options and on the web you have a lot of brushesShapes which you can add into them.
Not everyone has a lot of icons, and they will be not very happy about some simple overlays/gradients.
Good luck with it.

Well I was making it sharper and stuff but I noticed that it looked cool in my opinion blurry, like a ghost, slightly out of focus but you can tell what it is. It was an artistic choice more then a purpose of vectoring choice. I think the blur would be better if there was a background and the girl was made smaller and more part of the scenery. I'm working on a new version more along these lines, but my skill isn't anywhere near enough so you guys may have to wait a little bit unfortunately.
