Compositionally your work needs attention. The scan, which is meant to be the focus of the image is pushed to the side and does little to draw the eye. The void that is the remainder of your image lacks features to retain interest.

Your extraction is inconsistent.

It's a start but please don't makethe mistake of rushing to submit.

The left side of the wallpaper looks empty. Try to add something like a second character, more textures or text on that side to fill the void. You could also try to place your character at the center of the wall to get the viewer's attention.

You can also use the rules of thirds and sort off put it in the middle, I agree the render needs to be cut deeper, also blending needs a bit of work. Try using brushes that go well with the focal. Maybe some star and a few that have a magic dust look IMO, I agree with hatesyou, Keep Practing... JAANA~ (^_-)b

you don't have to show the whole character, try to use a bit of the body, but it is still your choice.

You can also just go on with this wallpaper and try your best to make something good with it... For the first wallpaper it's always easier to start with a base and go on with people here on Session Zero till you get something worth the gallery...

I don't know if it's you who add that blue outline of if it's left overs from the original picture but you need to get ride of it.

As for the "jump" effect you try to do. It's not the best way to do it... There your scan looks weird with it.

You don't necessarily have to use the scans from here where it will cost you papers. If your having trouble finding it elsewhere you can grab the smaller image and run it through a reverse search engine like iqdb (Appears to be down atm), or TinEye.

Edit: I should mention if you go elsewhere for scans, make sure its official art or by a recognized artist, otherwise you won't be able to submit it :)

Note : for more papers you can just comment in Session Zero. You can comment on wallpapers also. All that gives you papers. The more interesting and long comment you do, the more papers you get.

Reading comments in Session Zero can also provide you lots of advices on your own work ans help you figure out what is accepted and what it's not on AP.
