Deathnote wallpaper

What's wrong with a simple design like this~? ( ; 3 ;)
I took a look in the galleries, but under deathnote there's nothing on L! So I thought I'd make one of my own, and I'm quite pleased with the result ^___^
Too bad it wasn't good enough for the galleries (T . T) And they took all my papers too~
Well maybe I should have known better than to use a scan from this site... But still~ >_<
I really am a noob on photoshop tho, and this is the first wallpaper I ever made ^^; So, I wonder what you think of it?
L the wallpaper ^___^

Well...hmz..first wallpaper...what I think?? nothing....cause...I don't see any wallpaper >.>
Sorry, eheh I made a lil mistake, all fixed xD
Well, first of all, it doesn't seem like you put a lot of effort into it, at least it doesn't reflect it. Try putting some text and instead of just duplicating the image, maybe you can just extract the main char and apply some effects? It's lacking design and idea, it's up to you to think of some =P

It does seem kind of like you just pasted the scan together twice, from a first glance. I would remove one of the figures (probably the one on the right), and try adding a new background to the rest that compliments the original image.
It looks a lot better than I can do ^^. But (this is coming from a newbie) maybe um...uh...smart blur it a little so it doesn't look as grainy-ish..or um..look for a cleaning image tutorial >.> somewhere...um...you can try: wwww.good-tutorials.com Anyways...

The problem with simple is where does it stop being a design choice and become a reflection of a lack of any effort or covering up a lack of skill.
Using a scan twice at different sizes and throwing a bit of pink at it probably falls more into the latter. Try to look through the gallery and see what types of things people have actually done with scans.
What setting have they created, how have they used effects or abstracts, what adjusmtments have they made to the scan if any?

I see your point.. that's exactly what I did, but I really like it like that~ having the smaller scan in the background is like.. the whole concept ^^;
And I did put effort into it, it's just that being so unfamiliar with photoshop, I tried a lot of different things to get to know the software you know..but I feel like the more I add the messier it gets ^^;; and I'm afraid to alter the picture too much >___<
But you're right, I'll keep this in mind. Thank you for the critique ^__^
If you wanted to have smaller scan in the background, maybe you can lower its opacity to make it look not as noticeable. You can goto www.good-tutorials.com they have a lot of good tutorials to help you get started (hence its' name "good tutorials" xD) I'm so lame...
Or um..you can lower the opacity, put bigger one a in the back and the smaller one in the front, so basically, the less visable one is um...like..the smaller one's "shadow"...do you get what i mean?? Hum..well i hope you do =/ Anyways, its just advice.

That's something that will just come with time... Photoshop is such a complicated program... I've been using it for about 6 years and I'm still learning things! I like browsing the Help file to kind of explore and learn different functions of the program. Mostly it will just come with practice. Just keep at it. ^_^
